My first thoughts on this scene were that jacks plan did work, and they changed their destiny by creating a reality in which there plan landed in lax, and the island sunk due to Juliet detonating jughead.
there were a few mistake by the creators of lost in here. first of all if the plane never crashed and the hatch was never made, the others would have never came. also the the others houses wouldn't be there. Also Richard would have never came so the statue would be at its full size. But if none of this happened then the statue wouldn't have even bin there in the first place.
@razfilms1 Its not really a mistake though. This place is the afterlife. The light on the island is the same light that engulfs them in the church. The light is the reason the island exists and why it is important. The afterlife therefore doesnt need the island so its at the bottom of the ocean.
Its also metaphoric that the passengers have left the island behind. Its no longer part of their lives.
@kappelmeister123 You should really read his new interview. Visit Dark Ufo and check it out. He says he has enough money from Lost he doesn't need to work another day in his life. That he turns down huge roles simply because he doesn't want to act in them.
The ending makes this scene pointless and in fact it makes at least 2 season pointless as not all the lost survivors front the front half and last half, plus the boat, freighter, others and other others. The weren't there at the ending thus making them all pointless, GOOD STORIES!!!! but still pointless thanks for listening....

This thing that you are watching here as well as all the "alternative reality with no 815 crash" are some kind of afterlife or purgatory were all the characters are dead. They all died at some point as they were all humans and that happens to humans.
i think the smoke monster suceeded in sinking the island. when the bomb went off, the survivors were just sent in a flash-sideways. i think they changed time when they stopped the smoke monster from actually sinking it a few days ago.
Why is everyone daying the graphics and CGI are bad? They're brilliant for what it is used for! They don't need all these flashy graphics to make a good TV show, do you...?! It's good as it is, so stop complaining please!
It takes you out of the experience. I'd rather no CGI be used at all, but for a show of this profile, you'd expect it to be well done when it is used, and it usually isn't.

How did Hurley still win the lottery? He wouldn't know the numbers because Lenny wouldn't have heard them on the boat while going past the island because the island had sunk.

the reason the island sank is probably because of the h-bomb explosion, creating an alternate timeline. It can't be just before they flew over, there is too many sealife on the statue for that.

A thought: The island is Atlantis ( do research on Atlantis and youll understand why I say that ) Theres a link between the island and the polar hemisphere ( windows .) So if the bomb was to go off in the northern hemisphere window it could therefor cause the polar caps to melt and the water would flood the island, which would take time which would explain why the Dharmaville was still there.

If the bomb did sink the island why weren't the huts demolished and the four toe statue knocked down. Surely if the bomb was powerful enough to sink an entire island then it'd have been powerful enough to destroy Others-ville etc.
Well I mean when we bomb Hiroshima the buildings still stayed just they looked burnt to hell or worn out you could actually see shapes from blasts against the concrete people took after the atomic bomb went off in Japan and all just saying that what going on plus like I said it alternate universe anything could happen I mean Desomond was on the damn plane lol he would be dead sooo I am going with Alternate Reality
