@RIGHTWORD8 there may be some keys you can press before your computer starts to boot into the os like f10 f8 ect. Sometimes your hard drive will have factory image of your os!

@aussie114 : Willing to reinstall the OS Ws Vista Home Premium I found out that I don't have the CD-ROM. It was not in the PC box ! I mention that I bought my PC as new about 3 years ago. All I got is a DVD-ROM called "Windows Anytime Upgrade". Is there any way to download the OS from MS Ws website ? How ? Do you have any idea how to solve this problem, please ?

Yes. Everything. If i were you backup your files to a USB Thumb drive or External Hard drive. Before you upgrade to vista. Download the Vista upgrade advisor. You need to do a Clean installation of Windows Vista.

DVD is really the only medium as the amount of data or iso file is so large it eceeds the storage capacity of a normal CD.

He's installing vista in a Virtual PC. Innokek VirtualBox to be exact. Doing this means you can record everything using a screen recorder on the host machine. I've recorded some videos like this but their in ogg format and I can't seem to get them converted to anything Windows will accept! Grrr

C! Always C the D recovery drive is for recovering Data after a huge system corruption. Acer started putting them onto their machines. I'm assuming that's what you've got.

I'm dual booting Vista and Ubuntu quite happily. Although I've got 2 separate hard drives so its not really the same thing. With one hard drive simply partition it in 2 nd install Ubuntu on one half and Vista on the other. P.S. only files stored on the Vista partition can be viewed by both OSes as Vista cannot read Linux file systems. Although I think theirs a program which will fix that

i already did this it destroyed GRUB it boots right into vista. now i have to restore GURB using the liveCD. But im waiting because i ordered a CD from the site. Cant wait till it comes :)

When he didn't insert the key, he was unlocking a "trail" version. Not inserting the key means you can choose and trail any version of Vista, Technically hes done nothing illegal.

I'm not disagreeing and getting into an argument with ANYONE on this: But I disagree with piracy of windows. Two reasons:

1/ Its stealing from "PC" giants (and I damn well love Microsoft)

2/ And two; look at what a fucked version of XP did to the name of Microsoft (talking about Xp Enterprise)
