omg..return to oz i have been trying to find out what this movie is called for ages as none of my family could remember it for one reason or another. don't know if its because i watched it in the 80s and they weren't born yet or something but i never remember being scared,just remember loving it and wanting to watch it again. thanx :)

@ NBNA100 - you have an incredible list. i love your narrative parts explaining your brief summaries and opinions about these awesome films! these days, film-makers are overusing CGI. i like these original low budget looking movies. almost all of them have good morals back in the 80's... unfortunately, kids don't learn much these days because of trend and media. hi iam trying to find out the name of an 80s kids film where a boy in a wheelchaire moves to a new house and meets up with a local girl and thay then go on to find some aliens in his garden. and thay make friends with them and try to hide them from the goverment. and near the end thay pledge to become citizens of amerIca and thay drive off in a pink bubble car please if you know the name please let me know thanks x

Interesting sidenotes - the Knight in Young Sherlock Holmes was actually one of the earliest uses of CG. The spaceship in Flight of the Navigator was all CG in the flying scenes, and the entire final battle in Last Starfighter is all CG.

But otherwise, I totally agree - the 80's showed how CG doesn't need to be overused, and when it IS used, done so SPARINGLY.

I know this will sound very vague, but do you know about an old fantasy movie where in a part of it there is some furry giant that puts a woman in a cage, in a cave or something, and that woman's friends try to save her? I have those images in my head from my childhood but I can't figure out which movie it is :(

I've never seen return to Oz, but it looks like the kind of thing i'd love. its got that Dark Crystal/Labyrinth feel to is..I will indeed be checking that out.

The Navigator...again..awesome fun. I place that and Shortcircuit together in my mind as we bought them on vhs at the same time.

Willow...classic...i made sure to pick it up on dvd.I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of a special edition as it is truely MAGICAL.

Wait..short circuit? don't get me wrong..i love it..its awesome..a fav of mine..but i'd argue it belongs in the same lofty heights as MOTU and superman and so technically doesn't belong. Loved it.
