I agree that Johnnie's is better than Carm's, Al's, and Mr. Beef. But they are ALL overrated, including Johnnie's. Come on, what's wrong with you people? There is nothing special about their cuts of meat, or their spices, or the bread. It's just simple sandwich's that are small and overpriced. Michael's, Bouna, and yes Portillo's, are all way better than Johnnie's. I used to live close to Johnnies and wouldn't even consider them an option when it came to getting a good Italian beef.
@sadiehl07 if you love johnnie's is my great uncle though he doesn't really work there anymore. His son-in-law does. but still it is the best in IL. :D
My great uncle is the owner of Johnnie's beef he married one of my great aunt's husband. I get to eat in owner's office and get anything I want including money! I just love my family (kinda) :D
