@SkywalkerTibor there is no blow off valve to relive the system its air tight the sound you hear is boost being pushed back through the system it doesnt affect it much tho cause its usualy only at iddle since blowers run directly off the crank they constantly makes boost witch is good for max throttle responce
So the cam has everything to do with it!!!!! I'd have to think that large amounts of boost contribute to it as well. Thanks for the upload, it's a beautiful engine, and it sounds like all big blown blocks ought to!!! PEACE to all
you guys crack me up. Anyone heard of John DeLong Cams? Well old Mr. DeLong is one of the finest cam grinders to ever live, bar none. He resided in San Jose, California. He ground a cam for a friends flat bottom with a 467CI BBC and a 10.71 blower. When my budy was talking to John about the cam, he said "hey John, how bout you put a little blower roll in it", to which John replied "if thats what you want". Needless to say, on the lope you could read GATES and the p/n of belt. (continued)
its the second comin, dude ur my hero thanks for sharing the gosphel, two 1050's hehehehehe fuck u opec, and a 10-71 oh baby, what heads do u have on that and vavle size, im surprized it doesnt rip that stand in half , love that blower idel ever sence hollywood nights, lol that sound makes me hard, how much peak boost is it set up for ?, around 20? great choice goin with e85, keep that boost cool, i cant get over two 1050's lol id have went toilet bowls, but shes a beauty
the 632 merlin engine it's a 1000 monster itself, now add that blower, damm. that engine mounted on a black '63 split window vette with 6 gear transmition and big slickers, would be the perfect ride.
Alright, I just started getting into the motors and stuff of vehicles, before I got my truck, I was always about the looks, I am starting to realize that I don't really care how my truck looks, as long as it can eat, digest, and get rid of any import tuner peice....anyways, how does the dual Carbs work out? and is it better to switch my Fuel Injected 350 to a carberated one? So is Fuel injection better or carbs better?
direct injection si better. and for your information. these big block are the proof of the lack of knowledge americans have about building technology. the import cars youre talking about are produced with teh technology of runnign at high rpm's, enabling it to have a smaller engine capacity, but still perform the same, and better than any bog block in america. mayeb an extreme example, but ANY 3,6 liter ferarri would smoke ANY 6.5 liter mustang any day of the week. dotn get amd at me, its true.
Just a quick bit of info for ya. The reason people put big blocks in is to produce a lot of HP and a lot of torque at the low end. They can get off the line like nothing else.
The small capacity engines run at high RPM but have small and high torque bands. The reason Ferraris can win when they do is because they have V12s and are doing high speed pulls. Besides, why else would all the fastest cars in the world have high capacity V8s or v12s?
thta's not true. 80% of all ferarri's have v8's as well.. but theyre only 3,6 litres.. youre not telling me big blocks are 'the way to go' right?' coz if you are, dont bother, You cant convince me.
absolutely right, i dont disagree with you. but i think you missed my point then. the reason americans started building such engines is because of the lack of knowledge they had about efficient engien building techniques.. let's put it this way: take formula one. theyre boudn to use 2.4 litre naturally-aspirated engines in the V8 engine configuration that have no more than four valves per cylinder. there is no big block that could have the same performance qualities with these rules applied..
its just because they didnt know how to amke the engines work more efficient, they just amde them bigger and bulkier. which has its upsides as well. technically as well as esthetically. it's so bulky its almost impossible to fuck teh engine up. plus it has an absolutely gorgeous engine sound. but then again, because they kept making bigger low-rpm engines they had to make them stronger in order to be able to handle the huge amount of torque.. see where I'm getting at? :)
I can see that. I guess it just leads to everybody having which one they like better. Personally I like the BB in a muscle car or truck but as far as the Enzo, F1 (Mclaren), SSC, ect I would just like the power.
sorta true, but kind of a big misconception in that statement...lots of people think our cars are shit compared to imports (depends on make, model, maintenance, etc.) but our engines are called "less sophisticated" based on what you said, which is true. we had the resources to build bigger. japan, for example, developed what they could with different guidelines (based on resources, circumstances, etc.) so our cars "evolved" differently. both small and large displacement engines... (continued)
have their flaws, and their upsides. lately, though, American car companies are excelling at small-displacement research and capability, and combined with our already extensive knowledge of larger engines, i think will be back on top of the game before long. think about it, do you want a ford or chevy truck (around for around 100 yrs) or japan's attempt at a v8, let alone a truck? look at ambulances, police vehicles, construction vehicles, the presidential limo's....all chevys and fords
@catf1sh1812 youre right in a way. though you have to think about the rest of the world. for example, i live in Holland. what you are talking about is just the united states, (maybe entire north america). BUT, presidential limo´s over here are big ass mercedeses, VW´s, Audi´s and so forth. I´m nopt talking about japan. I´m mostly talking about germany´s cars and italian cars. second, your cars will never be able to get on top of the game, not because the cars are of bad (continued)
@catf1sh1812 quality, but because theyre really bad for the environment (looking at fuel consumption and all). of course big blocks are not easy to destroy (hence cars being arounf for decades like you said.), plus americans might be improving on engine technology, yet american cars still only come to justice on the 1/4. the handling is really bad. I´m talking about overall quality here. I´d love having a big block GTO, But I´d choose any Audi (except for a2 ;)) over any big block car.
again, a misconception had by commonly overlooked qualities in out automobiles. we are starting on the AWD platforms, so it's only a matter of time before skyline and subaru have contenders besides the muscle cars (fusion and cobalt aren't far behind) and environmentally we are right on par with the rest of the world, have been since the late 90's and especially now that we are leading in hybrid technology (though not sales). as for our cars only shining on the 1/4 (continued)
that is where we dominate, true, but we have proven to highly competitive be in F1 (chevy), lemans (corvette C6R and C5R dominated their class their first 3 yrs out, havent watched much since but last i heard only aston martin ran close, and that includes ferrari and lambo) and big blocks are great motors and all, but where our V8 technology really trumps is our small block V8's. handling wise, it's all based on the make and model of the car, every company has winners and losers. (continued)
our muscle cars (camaro, mustang, challenger, etc) aren't good examples of refined track cars, but they handle pretty decent for most people and can be tuned to run with the best for fairly cheap. their "great handling" competition usually costs more than them by a margin and lacks the history and luster of such iconic cars. our high end cars handle as good as any RWD cars on the road, especially for the money. our high end toys (saleen, ssc, shelby, along with big 3's efforts) still (continued)
have yet to be beaten by many of the world's top supercars (lamborghini, porsche, ferrari, mercedez, etc.) in many categories. in conclusion, i'm not putting down any feats or accomplishment's or creations by the world's auto manufacturers, but ours are often overlooked and for no good reason other than bad word of mouth and lack of public knowledge. (we couldn't sell blood to a vampire) hope this book i wrote you (sorry) enlightens you a bit

of course if you really want to put them up for a race let it be drag. curious about the outcome eh?
you know prestige is so overrated. even if mercedes made a shit everyone would believe its better than a true masterpiece
@LordOfTheDrums lmfao so take that same cash and put it into a BBC and it will suck up ferraris and shit out honda's. your comparing apples and oranges. 2nd of all, my 70 ElCamino with a stock 396 and a built T400 and I, apassed a turbo carrerra on the outside downhill offcamber on the throttle @ over 100 MPH on Highway 17 returning from the Santa Cruz beach. Depends on the application, boats have the motor turned around to make it easier to mate a transfer case to the prop. Or the simple fact it's outta the way for testing.
here in brazil, we use Alcohol in turbo, aspirated, and race cars...the price is over R$ 0,99, something like US$ 0,46, but is per liter, a gallon have 3.6 liters, so, a gallon of alcohol in USA is something like US$ 1,80...the detonation resistance is very high, and we can use compression tax like 11:1 in good preparations...
i am considering an E85 conversion on my 6-71 dual carb small block, was wondering if there is a standard jet size conversion, i.e 10 or 20 up from gas, or is it based on the application? thanks Ray
