May be, but "They Call the Wind Maria", it's a song of the Broaway Music Comedy 1951 (Pain Your Wagon), recorded by The Kingston Trio at The Hungry I San Francisco 1958, the movie 1959 ( Singer : Roten Luck Willie ).
Sorry David but I can't be too impressed. While it is comendable what you and your group attempted the songs were not sung quite right. What was that "Rocky Road" song in the middle? I guess that wasn't too bad. Your version of Mariah needs work. To much much tenor and not enough bass. When the men got together to sing they went way to high. Also the acting needs work especially the voice inflections. When you were telling the story and trying to scare the children it did not convince me.
Very few Little Theaters would think they could do Paint Your Wagon partly b/c they'd figure they couldn't get anyone to sing Mariah. You've done a fine job here with a song some pro's can't handle. Your community chorus has backed you up well, and the whole thing has been sensibly miked.
This demonstrates that _Wagon_ can be done well in LT! Great job!
you werew great I was impressed... That is a hard song to sing and come over with the emotion. Most I see don't do it with the emotion as Harve Presnell and you did.
I think you did this version of Mariah fantasticly, your voice is strong and clear. Much better than most of the long-time professionals. If you made a C.D. of this I would buy it.
You know, my name is Mariah and I went through my whole life of people telling me about the song but I never heard it. Now that I did, I'm very pleased. And you sang it amazingly, glad that was my first time hearing it, it won't be the last. This'll sound weird, but thanks for being a good singer. v.v I think I want to watch the play now. Let me know if you ever get casted for it again. XP
The especially nice thing about this clip is hearing the original orchestrations. And the man singing, "Maria," has a lovely voice. Was this a community theatre production? Did you do the entire play? Did you use the original B'way script or did you take elements from the (gag) movie?
I wish so much I could have been there in person! What a voice Dave! No breaks, just pure unadulterated velvet! Keep it up - keep singing! Love you lots,
Hmm... nice ... go make records please .. you'' re good.

I love this movie and I think the Harve Presnell's version is a reference in the collective mind but I think you sang it very well.

I think you did it justice, but I have to agree...the sound needs some serious cleaning up. Keep working at it, you've got a great start.

I liked it. You had a strong voice! This is one of my favorite songs from that film and you did it justice.
Riyabryn 2 years ago 3
Excellent. Only criticism is that the talking and music are a little low and muffled. Any way the sound can be cleaned up?
