  • am a syriac-orthodox...but the english version of our mass is really annoying....i love the aramic version

  • This church is the best for two reasons, 1 saint Peter, 2, John of Damascus, I still don't like the fact that many of it's members calls it a "non-Arab" church, it makes it feel like Arab Chrisitans are not welcomed, when in fact it's 2nd most recognized member, John, was an Arab, and two of the largest Arab christian tribes the Taghlib and Ghassanid where members of that church. Jesus would not want churches to be ethnic based, but open to all

  • @getyafreakon411

why cant ur priests marry? why dont they wear caps?? eh? Diluted Antiochene Liturgy..few more years and reeth will be in the same condition as syro malabar..some will turn west..others east..

  • @getyafreakon411 Don't worry about it.. you'll understand :P I'm not going to argue on YouTube.. lol

  • @getyafreakon411 Are you serious? The Malankara Catholic Church is the one which split from the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and changed everything..

  • What is being said at 0:22 after Kurieleison at 0:26?

  • @tube101j what's being said is "showe wu zodek", literally, "meet and right", both words having more or less the same meaning. The implied meaning is "it is meet and right to do so", which is a response of the congregation as the Kasheesho waves his hand. Usually, this waving takes a bit of time, so, to prevent an awkward silence toward the end of the "waving", the congregation repeats the words "meet it is, and right to do so" in its Syriac form, "showe wu zodek". Hope that makes sense... :)

  • This is the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church..

  • I go to a Bulgarian Orthodox church, but went to a Syriac Liturgy a few years ago. It was all in Arabic, though, and I couldn't understand anything. If it was like this, it would have been just as beautiful. I pray for my Coptic and Syriac friends. May the Lord grant you all many years!

  • this is not the syrian orthodox church this is the malankara orthodox church -_-

  • @kurianchandy

yes but this is the Syrian Orthodox Liturgy.

  • @getyafreakon411

Reethe philippiansilo?? Avide ethe Sabha vibhajikana??

  • he sings very beautifully.

  • Rev. Father, I am Prester Shaul Bar Thoma, a newly ordained priest of the Ancient Apostolic Catholic Church in the Philippines. May I possibly ask your generosity if you can email me a copy of the liturgy of your Qurbana and maybe I can ask you also a copy of your various rites especially on the sacraments. We are still coming up with our own but maybe you can allow us to have at least a grasp of your liturgy. Please email me Prestershaul_barthoma@yahoo.com. Thank you very much

  • @cantofalsetto YOU ARE A PAGAN!

  • I love this :)

  • There is no differene between worship/liturgy In Malankara Orthodox christians or Malankara Jacobite syrian Christians. tThese are two factions of syrian rite christians In India.

  • It is so beautiful and meaningful to be able to hear the Holy Qurbana in English. The anaphora is similar to that of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, yet different enough to attract the ear of an Eastern Orthodox Christian. I too pray for the day when Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Christians will be united in full communion so that the world may truly know the glory of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Love in Christ from an Eastern Orthodox (OCA) brother!

  • Eastern Orthodox here. I yearn for the day where our churches may finally share communion again.

  • Aju Achen, I wanted to go to your service in Houston but didn't have the chance to, but I've heard several recordings from your Qurbana. Your voice is amazing and your tune is perfectly in sync! I find it ridiculous that the "voices" in Kottayam have denied/rejected your priesthood over a divorce. I'm praying for you and just remember you gotta let God take the wheel on this one. Keep up the faith!

  • i thought that the syriac church spoke in arabic

  • nope they speak syriac, a dialect of aramaic..the arabic language was actually influenced by languages like syriac, so there are lots of similarities

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! :D

  • i love it sooo much. your brother in Christ from Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church

  • shlomo,

    "Qurbana or Qurbono" means sacrifice!

  • yea thats right,, I just simplified its meaning

  • how come achen was stripped from continuing as an achen?

  • i think it was cuz he got divorced

  • see my comments below.. I pray that you are all well and appreciate the love and positive comments about the blessed gift that God had given me for a short time..

  • May the Good Lord bless you,

I hope you still attend church...No one can take that right away from you. Im sorry about the divorce too....You truly had a gift. Also if i ever become an achan, I hope I could look to you for help.

    Joel.

  • What does "Qurbana" mean?

  • Dear , Qurbana ( actual word is Qurbono) means Mass ... it is a Syriac word..

  • Thanks a lot.

  • actually, QURBANA Means Living Sacrifice or offering

  • @georgemaliyil, No it's actually Gurbana, and it's an Assyrian word for like you said sacrifice. Gurbono is Turoyo a west Assyrian Dialect.

  • @Assyrianland WHAT PART OF HEBREWS 9-10 DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?!

  • @georgemaliyil Thanks a lot for the information.

  • @Qcumber holy communion in syriac is called qurbono

  • this is not syriac orthodox, i think it is malankara orthodox. the liturgy for both churches are almost the same

  • we are called syrian malankara orthodox

  • cool!

  • Where is this church? I think the Syriac churches near me do things mostly in Syriac.

  • is this ajuuchen's church, i mean i kno he is not a uchen now but was this his church

  • Id think this his church..and i believe he's still an achan just not able to conduct Holy Qurbana :-)

  • i heard he was stripped form being an achen

  • and nayways whats the point of being an achen if u cant do the qurbana

  • Lol..good point.

  • I am sorry that I didn't see this conversation earlier or I could have helped you clear your questions. This video was taken at Holy Cross in Manhattan and I (Aju Achen) was the one who celebrated the Liturgy. I am no longer considered a priest because of my divorce, but prior to being defrocked I was suspended for a year for the same divorce. Though, I appealed the decisions, I clearly have no voice in Kottayam and was denied. I ask you all to pray for me, ..

  • Although the diocese doesn't acknowledge you as a priest anymore, that doesn't take away your actual priesthood does it?

  • according to the kalpana I received, as per the decision of the Synod (which I was not even asked to defend myself at) I am longer a priest of the Malankara Orthodox Church and cannot use the priestly vestments or the title. May I ask who this is?

  • Hmm..that is strange. My name is Jimmy, I live in Tampa.

  • so i see that you were a priest in the orthodox syrian or indian orthodox church right? does that kalpana also apply to the syriac orthodox or jacobite church?

  • this service is malankara orthodox syrian in english

  • thanks. nice to hear and watch the holy mass.

  • thank u . to hear the qurbana in english is touching

  • Pretty! What are the bells for? They are a little distracting but this whole chanted service is really pretty!

  • they represnt the angelis in heaven prasing god, thats why there is a picture on the rattle thing, oh yeah its called a marbasa

  • I believe this is the service of a priest of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.. just to correct your mistake.

  • the marbaso, is supposed to represent the angels in heaven praising God, and also the departed souls with us during the Holy Eucharist.

  • whats the ratteling thing for?

  • Thanks so much for posting this!

    I appreciate it.

God Keep you. and kep posting!!!!!!!

    Greetings from Eritrean Orthodox!

  • this is interesting. i am coptic orthodox, i think its interesting how they use the symbols... and in our liturgy the priest is the only one who is allowed to shake the censer.

  • In France the holy qurbono is in Syriac aramaic (for the hymns) and in Arabic, French for the sermons.

There are two churches in Paris (St Ephrem for the catholic syrian mission) and nearby (St Mary at Monfermeil for the syrian orthodox mission).

God Bless Them all , BarekhMor.

  • Sweet indeed

  • this is incredible!

    Glory to God!

  • beautiful!

  • Sayollah, I am amazed at your God allah that needs a sayf (sword) to do things on earth. I am glad that I worship the True Triune God. Why would I become a muslim? neka7 alsagheer? la7mul 7ameer? reda3 alkabeer? am, bawl alba3eer? I don't think so!

  • good mass..good voice,...

  • Dear friends in One Christ but many factions: There are Seven churches using name MALANKARA including Two Orthodox, in addition Malankara Catholic too an Orthodox. All these are created gap by people. Jesus is heavenly Education more than what we believe religiously. Of all these and many more, American Indian rite of the Catholic is wonderful in their anscistoral tradition, Jesus and the Bible without foreign imposed rule. If seen their Qurbana you will surprise with Holy Spirit feeling.

  • Fr. Kashisho,

Is it possible to get a copy of your English service book. If so, let me know. I like your service and would like to introduce it our Orthodox congregation here in Denver.

  • hi. my name is Aju Philip Mathews Kashisho. I am the priest celebrating the Holy Qurbana. This Holy Qurbana (Qurbono)was celebrated in Manhattan at Lampman Chapel (Theological Seminary) on Sept. 15th, 2007 as the mark of the inauguration of Holy Cross Orthodox Mission in Manhattan. This Mission is affiliated with the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India and this clip (1 of 2) was uploaded under a different name as correctly pointed out by grvity33. I was not aware of the reposting...

  • Also, as previously mentioned, the Syriac based liturgies share many common characteristics. my apologies to anyone who was offended. That was not the intent of the original uploading. Pray for me. God bless...

  • what time are your liturgies Abouna? I known Lampman chapel and had attended Orthodox Church of America services there a few times before settling into the Russian Church. I would love to come and visit, as I work nearby.

  • Priest celebrating Holy Mass is not from Syrian Orthodox Church or its offshoot in India, but belongs to Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church from India which follows almost same liturgy and traditions of the former. There are few other Syriac Churches also that uses same west-syriac liturgy in India like Thoziyoor Church, Syrian Catholic Church and MarThoma Church. Liturgy of each of these Churches varies slightly which was gradually developed after its independent formations. Paul

  • You my friend seem to be the most informed. Thank You for your comment.

  • The above mentioned Priest represents NOT THE SYRIAN ORTHDOX CHURCH OF INDIA as mentioned in the above caption, but belongs to the MALANKARA ORTHODOX CHURCH OF INDIA whose official name is MALANKARA ORTHODOX SYRIAN CHURCH. On the contrary, the SYRIAN ORTHDOX CHURCH OF INDIA, which is also reffered as THE MALANKARA JACOBITE SYRIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH or simply THE JACOBITE SYRIAN CHRISTIAN CHURCH in its official records.

  • Dear my brother,

The various name you have mentioned above is originaly represents the syrian church or syrian(syriac) orthodox church headed the patriarch of antioch in syria,it is came to be called as 'Malankara syrian orthodox church' in india.. jacobite ,orhodox are the two factions in the church..

so syrian orthodox church in india is one and same malankara orthodox church..

known in defferent name that's it.

  • syrian orthodox church and malankara orthodox of church India same, only differnce coz of powerhunger between thirumenis Who is Great...Hope one day both fractions will unite...and praying for the unity of orthodox church in India.

  • Syrian orhtodox church and Malankara orthodox church of India same, only differnce, because of the power hunger between Thirumenis..Hope one day both factions will unite... and praying for the unity of Orthodox church in India.

  • @bkmbkurian it's all the same One Holy Apostolic Church. May God be merciful upon us.

  • very nice voices from the Shamasha and the Priest.

This is the Ancient Liturgy of St James, truly a holy Liturgy

  • Hi thanks for ur valuable comment..do u belong to syriac orthodox churc?

  • No Syriac catholic, but same liturgy. Just slightly different teachings

  • I knew it was a Syriac liturgy, but I was wondering what particular parish this was. Thanks.

    - Sam

  • What parish is this? Cool video. I entered Orthodoxy (Chalcedonian) this Holy Pascha!

  • Please try to Upload More of these Video

  • I am sorry...infact I wanted to add another vedeo with the same title ,regrding the costoms followed by church in kerala i will correct my mistake...

  • This was very beautiful. First time in my life I heard Syriac Orthodox prayers in english. Very nice.

  • This was very beautiful. First time in my life I heard Syriac Orthodox prayers in english. Very nice.

  • How exactly do you justify your title with this video?

  • The title gives no validation of what the actually video shows. In fact this is re-uploaded version of a video whose original title is, "Holy Cross Qurbana." This clip shows a part of the Anaphora of St. James according to the West Syrian Rite used in the Syrian Orthodox Church and the Malankara Orthodox Church in India.

  • Just for clarification my comment was referring to the original title which was about how hindu customs have influenced the Syrian Christians of Kerala
