idk why but, for me, MM is the paul gilbert of drums for me.

All you Mike Mangini haters are idiots. Of course Marco is a genius, but no drummer who knows shit would say that MM isn't any good. The guy TAUGHT genius drummers at Berklee. Now he gets to be a ROCK STAR. Good for him. All the drummers who auditioned for DT are exceptional. They chose an American from the NE. Big surprise. But Mike deserves the gig, and he is killing it.

@tastefulphrasing I wasnt really saying hes not up for the task, hes an AMAZING guitarist no doubt about that, i really wasnt that impressed with THIS showing, but after i watched it a few times i felt like they were feeling themselves out, and i have never been one to judge the meal before its cooked, so to speak, I dont expect them to be HLS, that was one of those things i wont see again in my lifetime...............sadly.

Guthrie is freaking incredible, but he even said there would never be another shawn lane. besides, jonas is a much better bassist, and they had a longer music relationship together, maybe once these guys gain some experience with eachother, it will be great, We will just have to wait and see. :)

@tastefulphrasing Shawn Lane was an incredible technician, and, sadly, an incredibly self-absorbed noodler as well. Check out the vids of him performing with traditional Indian musicians. He doesn't look at his fellow musicians once, ignores all the subtle interplay going on around him, and basically treats the whole thing as a backdrop for his own light-speed noodle-fest. You can even see the other musicians looking at each other as if to say 'take a breath for God's sake!'.

That is when you need to turn to a true musician such as Katy perry or Bruno Mars; people with true musical talent, the talent to write simple yet memorable songs that capture the hearts and imaginations of millions, not just meander aimlessly round a fretboard in a way that only amuses humourless muso nerds, who think having a column in Guitar Techniques means you've 'made it'..

The official name of this band is The Aristocrats (from the comedy movie). This band is going to be intense but there'll also be a lot of musical humor and satire a la Zappa. This band is going to have a little bit of everything stylistically but a cohesive sound of its very own. It's not prog, it's not fusion, it's not jazz... It'll mostly be rock with everything else thrown in and a lot of improvisation and spontaneous musical interplay between these three virtuoso musicians.
