I have been fortunate enough to visit the clinic on a few occassions. It is a life changing experience. The clinic staff and volunteers treat those who have so little with the utmost dignity and respect. You see some of the best of what humanity has to offer here.
Our VOSH Michigan team just returned from our third trip to Coya, having set up an eye clinic where we saw 715 patients in four days. Our team consisted of four optometrists, 2 opticians and 11 volunteers.
The DelPrado's deserve a great deal of praise for the growth of this clinic. It is truly amazing and we feel privileged to be a very small part of what they have accomplished.
This IS the way it is. Our VOSH team has served there twice and the services of this clinic are of very high quality and rendered respectfully to an historically under served population. This is one of the most worthwhile, well-run projects I have encountered in my 31 years of working with non-profit agencies. What they are doing here is quietly miraculous.
