  • lol an old man (jaffar) is stronger that the younger ones (normal guards)

  • only thing that sucked about this version of POP was the combat, its all wait and hit.

  • Amazing Game, have nostalgia

  • Nice skills, though you played too carefully in some cases. :) Btw, I like Genesis version of Prince. Nice graphics and BGM (especially on level 16), more features and levels compared to PC original.

  • @Zork1y GO FUCK YOURSELF

  • @willem01 Suck my dick, pretty girl.

  • @Zork1y im sure you'd like that!

    : /

  • the princes has a nice ass :P

  • The music that played in this video was awesome. Anyone know if OCRemix has gotten their hands on it?

  • Interesting.

It has some notable differences. Namely, the platforms don't hurt the prince when they fall over his head,

At the bottom of the last level, there are no falling platforms also, just the ones that he steps onto.

  • I've never played this, but the jumping, the movement in general looks so much like Flashback!

  • Flashback came years after PoP.

The original, Apple II version, I mean.

(btw not just Apple II, but also DOS, Amiga and others.)

  • Ah right, thank you for clearing that up. Really similar though! Perhaps there were other games that used that particular style/system?

    *layman* lol

  • Pretty much, yeah.

PoP inspired the creation of a whole genre of games, called "cinematic platformers".

Among those were Flashback, Another World, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Heart of Darkness, Blackthorne and a few others.

  • Cinematic Platformers sounds about right. I've played Flashback, hence me noticing the similarities, I've seen a walkthrough of Another World and played a bit of Abe's Oddysee and they are the kind of game I can sit back and watch being played! That might just be my enthusiasm for gaming though. I doubt many would be happy to sit and watch! lol

Again though, thank you for the insight.

  • @nelrazor1 theres another exellent Cinematic platformer you havent played on da SNES,
