When a student intends to study a subject, he does not only seeks a relevant book but also an expert teacher on it. That's the reason why Prophets were sent, to teach and to elaborate their respective Holy books. And then the chain of religious scholars continues.

Women are supposed to be treated with the most respect and in the quaran it says that paradise is at your mothers feet and if a woman cheets on a man forgiveness is always best. I don't believe all the media, but some of it seems to be true (like the rape victim going to jail @_@ under Shariah, that part scares the heck out of me). The local Muslims (where I live) are constantly trying to Shariah law passed, two of the points they made was that people are too free (I'm sure you've seen some of the "freedom go to Hell" signs), and that Honor killing will be legal.

@CombateArmsOndraya Surah 4:34 is mis interprited so much most often it is due to the fact that it is read in english and to translate into english will leave a few things not as pure as they should be. It refers to striking women out of there homes if they cheat or lie or do other worng doings. that is pretty normal in any relationship however to translate it from arabic to english it is read in a harsher tone and it doesnt specify exactly how a man is stronger so really it cannot be specified.

And do not fight them at al-Masjid al- Haram until they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers. refers to a specific time in history a specific battle not to be just taken whenever you feel are unhappy with someone now a day and that killing is justified.

And fear Allah and know that you will meet Him. And give good tidings to the believers." It says fear Allah in what you do so obviously if you wrong your wife you will pay for it on the day of judgement. being "righteous" would mean to be an upstanding human and to be humane and respectful to your wife.

I know I am not going to back down from defending islam. It was written in plain arabic for us to read. If you do not read arabic it has been translated but the translation cannot be 100% in anything you try to translate so it is best to know arabic. In sha 'Allah you will stop slandering islam.
@CombateArmsOndraya further more about how the quaran discusses war, it is speaking about the times in early islam when muslims who chose to forsake pagan idols were ran out and were not able to buy food. They were told by allah to fight for there rights and to battl. It was indeed sucessful even though they were outnumbered in many instances they conqured. They traveled and spread islam even when being attacked they still prospered by the hand of allah.

When a student intends to study a subject, he does not only seeks a relevant book but also an expert teacher on it. That's the reason why Prophets were sent, to teach and to elaborate their respective Holy books. And then the chain of religious scholars continues.

Women are supposed to be treated with the most respect and in the quaran it says that paradise is at your mothers feet and if a woman cheets on a man forgiveness is always best. I am not sure how you are getting your information. Women are pearls of islam and they are supposed to show respect to their parents and husbands but only if there husband respects them. @shanaalansari I live in Northern Canada. lol I dislike the USA for it's strong Christianity as well. I don't believe all the media, but some of it seems to be true (like the rape victim going to jail @_@ under Shariah, that part scares the heck out of me). The local Muslims (where I live) are constantly trying to Shariah law passed, two of the points they made was that people are too free (I'm sure you've seen some of the "freedom go to Hell" signs), and that Honor killing will be legal.

@CombateArmsOndraya Surah 4:34 is mis interprited so much most often it is due to the fact that it is read in english and to translate into english will leave a few things not as pure as they should be. It refers to striking women out of there homes if they cheat or lie or do other worng doings. that is pretty normal in any relationship however to translate it from arabic to english it is read in a harsher tone and it doesnt specify exactly how a man is stronger so really it cannot be specified.

It says fear Allah in what you do so obviously if you wrong your wife you will pay for it on the day of judgement. being "righteous" would mean to be an upstanding human and to be humane and respectful to your wife.

I know I am not going to back down from defending islam. It was written in plain arabic for us to read. If you do not read arabic it has been translated but the translation cannot be 100% in anything you try to translate so it is best to know arabic. In sha 'Allah you will stop slandering islam.

@CombateArmsOndraya further more about how the quaran discusses war, it is speaking about the times in early islam when muslims who chose to forsake pagan idols were ran out and were not able to buy food. They were told by allah to fight for there rights and to battl. It was indeed sucessful even though they were outnumbered in many instances they conqured. They traveled and spread islam even when being attacked they still prospered by the hand of allah.

You're strange. You blame America for these problems? At least 20% of Iraqis (mainly Kurds) ARE HAPPY for US intervension, about 20% (Arab sunnis) hate America because Saddam was Sunni, and Shi'a - well - they are happy for Saddam's death, but would like not USA there, but Iran :-))) .
Soulspire, remember that Saddam attacked American ally - Kuweit, and it was why America changed mind about Saddam.
And America ISN'T responsible for 655000 deaths in Iraq. Dont lie.

Who are real Iraqis, according to you? Because Kurds really are happy for US intervention and possibly they'd get independence if not that they haven't connection to the sea :-))) .

The US had a hard time dealing with "the insurgency" therefor, they use the fragile peace between sunnites and shiites to their advantage.
They train/hire a person to put a bomb near a shia mosque, explode it, claiming or creating rumors that sunnites did it.
Then they train/hire a person to put a bomb near a sunni mosque, explode it, and claim/create rumors that this was a retaliatory attack ^^

@sylweg If you find that my saying the us use these tactics is incorrect, then i invite you to consider the fact that there was a very fragile cease fire between Iraqi shias and sunnis after the Iraq-Iran war (many iraqi shias supported iran), but that they were cooperating with each other when the us invaded, up until buildings of both parties started being blown up

Do you know that when proven innocent, prisoners of Guantanamo have to sign a paper that they will not try to sue the US? If not they risk being held for several months more, or to not be released at all

US claims, maybe 10% of Guantanamo prisoners returned to terrorism. The no. of the prisoners who didn't return to terrorism is unknown for me.
There should be significant no. of people who didn't act terror, though could be tied to terror.
Now, it is, sometimes hard to sentence such people in standard trial. Eg. bin Laden financed terrorists, though it is hard to prove that he knew whom he financed.

The US had no problems avoiding that using politics (as they did with cuba), bombing these nations was not nescessary for the safety of the US.
I also prefer Yugoslavia whole :) And i agree serbs did wrong things, but the muslims and croatians also did very bad things.
and no, im neutral on Kosovo.. Cooperating is better then cutting up a nation

About Soviet Latin America - you are really in fault. Cuba is exeption, because was very far from other Soviet-dominated states. So, it was really easy to make embargo on Cuba by US ships.
However, if Soviets governed huge parts of Latin America, IT'D BE REALLY EASY FOR them to attack USA.
It is why US dominance there was so important.
Besides Latin states are not mature to democracy. There always were riots etc.
But Japan & Germany are examples of such maturity.

@sylweg America basicly bomb any country unable to properly defend itsself against your airforce, if it does not support its best interests :)
After 11 September, Aghanistan (Taliban) offered tho hand over Bin laden, but demanded in return that he had a PUBLIC trial (viewed by the world) in a Neutral country (Europe, not the US)
The US refused this and made demands wich The taliban could not accept. One example is the demand that the US from that day on Dictates the country's policies

About the case with bin Laden and Afghanistan it's really foggy issue. Bin Laden, officially, still cannot be found.
I believe that the USA just wanted bin Laden for a reason to attack Talibans. Oil, of course possibly was counted.
Besides, maybe it would better to leave Afghans for starvation under Talibans?, however, many Afghans are happy for the intervention. There are some countries which are happy for US intervention (eg. mine), so the matter is discussable.

@sylweg Afghanistan is not a rich country (allthough it has massive amounts of unexploited riches in the soil! Oil, diamonds, gold,.....)
So there will be allways some people hungry, with or without the Americans there.
Many afghans are indeed happy for the intervention, but most are not :) If they were indeed happy, then the Taliban would not have such support from their countrymen.
Opinions of other countries do not matter. Only the opinions of the Afghans count in this :)

If I good remember, Talibans have (now) support of Pushtuns (even not all). Before US intervention was the same though Taliban controlled about 90% of Afghanistan. Some tribes (Tadjiks, Khazars, Uzbeks) didn't want them and proved that by fighting against them.
Besides, Talibans sow terror between own compatriots, so raether it is not good measure of Afghans' happiness about Talibans :-))) .

You should know there are billions people, even between Muslims who don't desire live under shari'a. However Islam deserves that. Proofs are numerous even in the West.
I'd really like to have Muslim good friends, however Islam don't allow that. I may be only dhimmi in Dar al-Islam, or Muslim.
The vid shows some 'heroes' of Islam who implemented shari'a between non-Muslims, so I'm afraid that war between Islam & the world is inescapeable.

There allready is a war between Islam and the rest of the world :) as The muslim nations are under influence from the west, and more and more people forget their religion, Europa is being influenced by islam and more & more people convert

over 200 years ago any Black man was regarded as a slave in UK empire. Was it good law? I think it was brutal, tragical, unhuman law. But was. Now desn't exist.
Now, if someone wants to apostate from Islam, should be killed, or, jailed, or rodded? I think - of course not. Is it good law? I think it is unhuman as well.
Do you know what is common in both issues?

Now, do you think converts to Islam should be treated the same way as Islam treats apostates?
You should remember that the West started to become power in modern world thanks to tolerancy (between other factors of course). No one is persecuted for their religious views. One could be atheist, and great inventor, etc.
but in Islam he should be killed for apostasy :-))) . Europe would be power much earlier if not their religious killing...
It is why, I see Islam hasn't future

@sylweg A muslim state as it is meant to be, tolerates jews and christians and will guarantee their safety. It is not tolerated that they try to convert or divide muslims though :)
The Dhimmi system requires that they pay taxes to the state.
The Dhimmi pay the same taxes as the muslims, but with an extra. Indeed they pay more, but in return the state takes care and keeps respect of their holy places and places of worship.
If a muslim would harm a Dhimmi without valid reason, he'd be punished

If they are unable to remain calm during a discussion or debate, the two of them are not good to be friends :)
also, some things a current day christian does would upset a muslim :) and some things muslims do would upset christians
They both need to acknowledge that what may be permissible for one will not be permissible for the other

First, Islam must start to tolerate others, together with apostates.
Already Christians (and Atheists) tolerate Muslims in the West, but opposite is rarely true in Muslim countries.
It is the difference not ovewhelmed yet.
