For a woman who endured such a great career & was very tough and courageous with her Battles with Hollywood and her near fatal illnesses, she was very sharp & intelligent told us like it is & was back then! It's Refreshing to see what a real Legend is & how strong a woman she was & never let life's setbacks get the best of her. She leaves a strong & everlasting Legacy behind & her ungrateful daughter B.D. Hyman will always be remembered as just that, Ungrateful & disloyal towards her own Mother

Bette's asst. is incredible because not many people would've stood by their own family during a crisis, let alone their employer the way she did. She was also a real friend to Bette Davis. She was a true friend & loyal employee who showed great compassion by standing by Bette during the most difficult struggle anyone could go through in life. She must have been a great comfort to Bette during the cancer & Stroke & Bette's daughter awful book.

@MPL029 No, she had no aspirations to slip Bette a mickey or drain her car of gasoline so she could take over Bette's part. It's not uncommon for a fan to glom onto a star, it happened most famously to Groucho Marx, and also Kate Smith and Jimmy Cagney, all with bad results. This is Bette's way of saying F.U. to BD Hyman, and "this is my real daughter, screw you." Asked by Joan about change, Bette could have said "not smoking" - she is yet another victim of tobacco- but didn't.

@MPL029 No Katherine Surmack was no Eve Harrington because she didnt deceive Bette Davis in anyway. Bette's son Michael & Ms. Surmack are both executors to Miss Davis' estate & her son Michael was close to his mother & they work together to help talented struggling actors/actresses succeed in the business. Katherine stood by this Great Lady for years before her health deteriorated & Bette Davis still had her wits about her & she would've bounced her out on her ear if she was anything like Eve.
