Hi, I'm working on a project for a Subaru brochure and we would like to use your video. Can you please respond back to me and I will give you more details?
This sounds interesting, and almost too good to be true. I would be interested in seeing this video somehow get used. Could you get back to me with more information?

I've owned alot of cars, (family does auto body) and the subarus are the ones I own the longest. They really are well made cars. I can drive right by people who are in 4x4 trucks and they're still stuck, and I'm smiling and waving at them, lmao. Sure I offer to help, I make nice ruts for them to get out with :p
if u live were it snows you need to know how to get unstuck in the snow i am 16 and i drive a chrysler 300 rear wheel drive i live in the buffalo area and have never needed help getin unstuck
spinning tires wont hurt it provided you have a strong enough clutch to withstand the abuse and hold the torque without slipping. Clutch dumps at 5000 is what really kills your clutch
all you guys saying Subaru is 4WD is technically wrong... Subarus are equipped with Symmetrical All Wheel Drive (AWD) that means power gets distributed to ALL 4 wheels, not just the ones with the least traction in the front or the back. ;) just my two cents
same difference just different wording 4wd is usaually defined by being able to select from 2 and 4 wheel drive via a lever or switch awd is fulltime 4wd and symmetrical just means it has limited slip differentials most 4wd vehicles have them equipped nowadays too 4wd=awd minus a switch
Its clear from the video the idiot in the truck had no idea how to drive on snow. If he would have let off the gas and drove like a normal person he probably could have gotten himself out. (But I also pull my neighbors out of the driveway snow piles with my Legacy GT.)
What are you talking about? The Ford driver is trying to back out of a hilly driveway with just RWD. It doesn't matter how much or little throttle he gave, he's going to slip because of the drivetrain. He did good by leaving the snow in the bed. Only thing he could have possibly done other than shovel the snow out of the way was to reduce the air pressure in his tires and use snow chains. Other than that, I see no "idiot" behind the wheel of the F150.
Are you kidding! You're telling me that using gentle acceleration as opposed to flooring it doesn't matter? I can't even count how many times I've been stuck at a green light because some ass hat tried to floor it and just sat their spinning the tires.
What part of my comment did you not understand? I gave you strict circumstances that would not make a difference whether or not he used full or little throttle. He's going backwards in a truck only fitted with REAR WHEEL DRIVE up a hill covered in snow and black ice. In that case, it doesn't matter how much or little throttle he gave, he's going to slip. Only thing that could have helped would be shoveling the snow away, and letting out some air pressure. Get it yet?
LOL! So shoveling snow makes black ice go away. Wow. I must say sir, you win. But one last small detail. He's going backwards correct? Backwards with rear wheel drive? Also if he can't go no matter what because of said snow and black ice, how is the Subaru moving? I don't think that's the Mattracks Imprezza. .
Shoveling snow doesn't make black ice go away idiot. Go read my comments again, I never said that. But shoveling snow away does prevent the build-up of snowy chunks. Also, look at the differences between the AWD Legacy and an F150. The Legacy weighs a lot less and is all wheel drive. The F150 is heavier, rear wheel drive, and going backwards up a hill. If you knew anything about weight transfer, the truck's tires lose more traction than if it were going uphill forward. Get it yet?
f1shbone, if you have a truck that is intended to be used on generally maintained roads and is not expected to encounter deep snowdrifts often, the extra cost and weight of 4x4 is not worth it.
that particular truck looks like a base model from the wheels and grille, if it is in fact the V6 model 4x4 wasn't even an option.
proper tires and driving skills are far more important than turning all four wheels for the most part. not saying I personally would buy a 4x2 truck, but they do make sense.
@klurejr Well, winter is coming up. xD My buddy's Subi and my S10 go out during super snowy days to help pull stuck vehicles. OMG, it's soo much fun. People see a 4x4 and a Suburu cruising together, getting stuck people out.
Guy in F150 was kind of an idiot. You don't floor it like that, it does nothing for traction and you run the risk of plowing into the guy pulling you out if you happen to get good grip ... I never understood the point of RWD pick-up trucks
I think you missed my point. I was saying that trucks should all be 4x4. A RWD-only truck with no weight on the back sucks, as you can see in the video above.
Haha that's sweet. And this is coming from a Ford/Subaru guy. The Ford is an 09 F150 FX4 lux package, and the Subaru is an 09 STI sport/tech package.
We were looking at an 09 Spec B at the same time as the STI... but in stock form it obviously lacked the performance of the STI (though it was really comfortable).
STI vs FX4.... that'd be something I'd like to see.
With snow tires I've found that I've outdone a lot of 4WDs and even some Subarus with a fwd Mazda. However, I freakin love Subarus and have had three of them, and when used intelligently they are just the best.
That's the double clutch 6-speed from the STi. Love the car, could be cause I've got your Spec B.'s twin, same color and all. One question though, did your Potenza's wear out at like 25,000 to? And how are the Dunlops?
I recognized this video... in Subaru's 2012 Forester Digital Dynamic Brochure. Did you give Subaru of America permission to use this video???

How the hell buys a 2wd truck where it snows... dumbass. and way to not be an asshole and actually help him out.

@Sirejameshartman In his defense, he bought it when he lived in North Carolina. He moved up to Maine later on, after he bought the truck already.

@rjs5689 Word, as long as you're not slipping the clutch to pull something it's just the same as full throttle driving.

Why would spinning the tires hurt the clutch? I drive an STI and do donuts/drifts/spin tires in the snow all the time and my clutch is strong as ever
