@ChillAndSmile - Re your question - we are not really interested in academic particulars - which mostly can't be proven beyond reasonable doubt, despite the scholarly pretentions; However the simple reason is because The Yoga Vasistha is very ancient and pre-dated Buddha by several thousands of years. Nonetheless this approach continued through time & exponents such as Gaudapa & Sankarcharya that came after Buddha - acknowledged & had the deepest respect for Buddha! There is No Duality Here
why is Yoga Vasisthta so similar to Buddhism? It is literally the essence of Buddhas Dharma. It is amusing Buddha is not even mentioned, yet it is essence of his teaching in Ramayana ..? Anyone has a thought on this? Thanks...
I second Indiaseeker. We want it all!!! The Swami has an abridged translation of YV, a most beautiful rendition of about a third of the huge yoga text and storybook.
I heartily second mary's comment. But this short excerpt only whets the appetite for the full video- at least the text of the discourse! Would be grateful if you could share the source.

It is a blessing to see Venkatesananda. His translation of the Yoga Vasistha was a great gift. Deep thanks to whomever is posting these sessions.
