I love this! I have been doing it (complaining to God) all day! I guess if one constantly thinks of what to complain about thats how one becomes habituated. "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." Which makes sense then That God calls us to constantly be in thanksgiving. I thank God for John Piper's dedication to truth!
why does an all knowing God need us to tell him what he already knows? Is God such an egotist? "Yeah I know you're suffering, I just wanna hear you say it.".
its not for Him. Its for u. So that u would belive him, know him , fear him , love him , ...and stay on ur way to salvation and not distruction. Its for a blessing to u from ur father who wants u to trust him fully :)
I do believe, know, love and trust my Father, I do not fear him because he has never given me a reason to. I do not think my Father is a god, nor do I think that the Christian god is my Father, actually it annoys me that you would try to rob my Father of that and hand it over to some phantom who's so just and loving that he let's so many of his 'children' suffer.
My Father wouldn't let me starve and I wouldn't have to beg him for food nor would he ask me to lay down my life for him.
i know what you mean, but its a hard thing to grasp. you gotta begin with the main fact that GOD is not like us. HE IS all powerful, all knowing, and HE IS just. remember HE is not human so we can't hold him to human judgments...i believe that he wants us to cry out to Him because when we do that it really shows that we are totally dependent upon HIM. truth be told NOTHING is possible without GOD...NOTHING...

1-God doesn't need us to show it or cry out to Him, but He wants us to because He wants communication with us. He wants a personal relationship with us, and the best way to grow a relationship is thru communication.
2-there is healing when we get things off our chest, and God knows that. He doesn't want us to hold it all in, He wants us to get it out so we can start healing.
we complain to God because when we do that He is Bigger than our complaints, and can handle it in His sovereign wisdom

it is not good to have a complaining heart, but if you have one to hide it is to court damnation.
you MUST be honest with Him. He knows it all anyway.
