@greg3d4u in real life they never married, they were just together, he left her and went with the other chick and those two did get married, the blonde chick died of brokenheart, true sad love story :(
Everyody is giving praise to the good guys like Val and Kurt, but I'm giving kudos the the bad guys being Powers and Michael. They were all good actors.
In real life, Doc Holiday may have indeed killed Ringo. Wyatt came upon Ringos lifeless body with a single gun shot wound to the head. It was ruled a suicide, but rumor had it Wyatt had Holiday kill Ringo.
I love how the whole saloon just shuts down when the Cowboys walk in and meet Wyatt and Doc for the first time. Everyone stands quietly and just watches like they're expecting something to go down.
The thing that intimidated Ringo wasn't the fact he had the tin cup, it was the fact that he was pissed and did what he did with an everyday item on the spur of the moment without practice thats got a very awkward balance compared to a pistol, thats real skill.
Love the scene with Doc and ike. lol lol lol. Wonderful movie. Why ike whatever do you mean? lol lol lol lol. Won't we love to have a movie like this everyday.
Can you imagine they were making bets for $500 back in those days? Money came easily and was lost just as fast. Can you imagine what life was like back in those wild and scary days? A man lived by the day. Doc Holliday was proof of that. He drank a lot and never backed down from a fight. He kept Wyatt busy.
@wthjrtx1 theres vids on youtube that do it, but its basically Doc.. saying he speaks the truth when drunk, and Ringo replying, that is getting drunk all he do, Doc says he doesnt believe so, to wich Ringo tapping his gun says something along the lines about how people learn from mistakes and Doc tells him to rest in peace!
okay...Dana Delaney (the brunette) is TOTALLY way better looking. But the best part, at least of this scene, has to be "I already did it". In the movie is when Doc is told..."I have lots of friends"...and Doc replies..."I don't"...that's the best part of all
@charismaticace Well, everyone's tastes are different and looks aren't the only thing that attracts people to one another. In this story, the sexual tension between Wyatt and the brunette is based in mutual respect and admiration. Physical attraction was the least of what they like about each other.
Your a dumbass for not figuring out my comment was about Kate and not Josephine. Your a dumbass also for telling me to do research on something thats my opinion; and also the fact you can't tell which person I'm refering to. Just saying.
@johnnyfive222 Oh and I probably shouldn't have called you a dumbass but c'mon it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out I was talking about Kate.
nop, thats true, but, i dont know, theres just something about him... something around the eyes ... i dont know, reminds me of ... me, no im sure of it, i hate him.
Look at the look of dejection on Wyatt's face @ 4:15, as he turns away....no matter what the century or era, a broken marriage is a broken marriage....maybe he only has himself to blame. Mattie sure as hell doesn't even care any more
I am the real, living, existing Dr Holliday. I got 2 guns, and they are still REALLY REALLY REALLY FUCKING fast. And Johnny Ringo, well, dance, drew and bang all too easy really
@66jesko Yeah, but the fact that Doc does it with a cup is a way of making Ringo look foolish for buying into it. In the end when he kills him, he says that he was too high-strong; he put too much stock on showing off that he never really learned anything.
@wtfan Actually, it's been said that the line "He was too high strung" was a reference to real life reports that Ringo committed suicide. Holiday, however, claimed that it was he, in fact, that killed Ringo in a duel. Who to believe? Who knows?
@guardianshaven I've heard that story. Just proves that we can't let Hollywood re-teach us our history. In a few scenes with the gunfight at the OK, Sam Elliot mentions "It's getting warmer, spring must be coming". (a building is burning in the background) Which is true as the movie may have a "summer" feeling to it but it had snowed the night before in real life.
Even though Holliday was drunk (when isn't he?) I think he was alert enough at 8:55 (they showed his eyes more in the Director's Cut) to know that Ringo was better than Earp but that he was better than Ringo, or at least knows how to beat him.
That cup scene is one those great scenes that makes a character memorable. Kinda like that pencil scene in The Dark Knight.
When I show this movie to friends, they react the same way as the audience:
1st confusion
2nd then, dawning and enlightenment
3rd laughter
4th appreciation
I also liked the 'Bravo' at the end, the perfect line from a performer and how Curly Bill tries to laugh it off and pay for drinks, that's why he's the leader, he's cunning.
@smokin94chevy are you talking about yourself?yes, that was a very trollish, and stupid comment, you should have thought before stating such a retarded post.

Wyatt's face at 7:30 has the eyes of a tiger then later when he looks at Doc it is more like, "How do you answer that?"
Then doc defuses the whole thing by trivializing the fancy gun twirling. Pure class.
His character throughout this movie was outstanding.

Johnny: Age quod agis (Do what you do best) (Drink)
Doc: Credat Judaeus apella, non ego (The Jew Apella may believe it, not I) An insult, Ringo was supposedly from a bloodline of jews and hated it.
Ringo: Eventus stultorum magister. (Events are the teachers of fools) (Fools have to learn from their own mistakes)
Doc: In pace requiescat (Rest in peace) (It's your funeral)
