  • I'm a Charity Hospital baby like K-Doe always said. I loved this record. My cousins came to visit from California in the '60s. We were all teens. They were all pretty girls. I played that 45 record for them and they loved it so much they asked me to give it to them. They never heard that record in California. I gave them the record. I always said that New Orleans music was not marketed properly by people in control. Many of our musicians died in poverty because of that.

  • While I loved playing pinball I have admit my attraction to the Penny Arcade was it was the only air conditioned building in the place.

  • @MsCapro I was there before they air conditioned it. They had those big ass fans on the side entrance and the front entrance that almost sounded like jet engines. Then when they air conditioned it, they pretty much dumped the Bally machines and replaced them with the flipper machines. I lost interest. And how many times were you on the "boardwalk" and they always to play Mr. Acka Bilk, "Stranger on the Shore" like every 15 minutes mixed in with other songs. Great times!!!!

  • That is just too cool. I don't have any memorabilia from Pontchartrain beach. Just great memories, and those little pictures from the penny arcade

  • @MsCapro When I was a kid, I lived in the penny arcade. They had those old Bally pinball machines like the ones Jim Garrison smashed up and dumped in the river. Of course, we didn't win money at the penny arcade, we just like to see how many games we could win. I swear to God, we won so many games one summer day, the machine started smoking. One of the attendants kicked us out. So, we had our swim trunks on so off to the pool for the rest of the day! Next day, back to the arcade!

  • Another thing lost was Mr. Bingle Dolls from Mason Blanche. You can get them at Dillards but they are not like the orginals. I've looked on ebay and most are modern versions. The MB Dolls are out of my price range. So I'll just listen to the great music hear and try not to think of things lost.

  • @MsCapro I have a ragin' Cajun roller coaster mirror from Pontchartrain Beach and some cups from the Bali Hai. Oh well, "Jingle jangle jingle, here comes Mr. Bingo......"

  • It took me two years after Katrina to find this song for my husband. I found the CD on some obscure web site located in the New England states. but it was worth the trouble. Thanks for sharing.

  • @MsCapro You're very welcome. There is no telling how many rare New Orleans records were lost in Katrina. Also, all those Jazz Fest Posters. We move on but know way we can ever forget that storm. It is a bookmark in the lives of us who live down here and at least for me, will be taken to my grave.
