  • looking at Johnny is priceless...he0s lovely

  • Must admit I love the cinematography in this - from Dusk Til Dawn iirc.

One of the highlights from "Dusk" - yes, Matt is a genius, but I think its Johnny Marr's input here that made it for me.

  • AWESOME - i keep wanting to say which is my favorite song, but they just all so good! i still love 'perfect' the most maybe, off Soul Mining! brilliant lyrics and acoustically!

  • The hurt in that poor man's soul, at 3:25, is staggering.

  • i remember when i was about to go to College.! in 1996. i was on the road driving my car and this was on the radio. i loved that moment!!!!..

  • I forgot how much of a cutie he is in addition to his awesomely strong voice. He has a contagious smile. I love the lyrics too. One of my all-time favorites! The lyrics ring so true to my mental state right now. Love the stuff he did for "Hanky Panky" too. My grandma had a picture of Hank Williams in her old B&W photos. Check out "I Saw The Light" among others. Brings back memories ...

  • @causeiuhgotta yes!!, yes!! absolutly true!!!!

  • @causeiuhgotta bom demais msm!!!

  • I love this vid since the first time I saw it on a TV show called Rock Around the World, one of my top ones :)

  • It's my life soundtrack!

  • @alonsopachecao MINE TOO :-D

  • This one is annoying. Too much talking during the song.

  • Fuckin Awesome

  • Uma inspiração, um bálsamo para a alma, é tudo de bom.

Parabéns The The, esta é uma música que embalou os primeiros mesesde vida de minha filha e ainda é a trilha sonora de minha vida.

  • Much underated musical genious

  • wait, johnny marr of the Smiths is playing the harmonica????

  • Yes, Johnny Marr contributed to this record. Great talents tend to come together :)

    Great song.

  • Johnny Marr played guitar on this track, afaik.

  • @richnfamous59 he played on the entire album its amazing!! what a c.v he has!!!

  • Great song. A musical manifesto.

  • My favorite song of all time is Nowhere Girl by B-Movie. This is probably #2. Masterful.

  • שיר ענק!

  • una preciosa cancion,

    perfecta parapor

    las mañanitas sin resaca.

  • Johnny Marr is credited with the harmonica for this song on the "Dusk" album.

And since you mention it, it is very similar to the John Peel version of "Still Ill" that is on the "Hatful Of Hollow" album.

  • I taught myself to play that bit on the harmonica. Only tune I can play on the damn thing other than the theme from "Jaws".

  • That's got to be Johnny Marr on the harmonica! It's basically the same as the John Peel session version of Still Ill.

  • Awesome x 2 = This song. Brings me back.

  • Mine too.

    It has marked my past..

Will always live in the future, along with my memories

  • This is almost my favorite song ever...

  • אני חולה על השיר הזה ..

  • חופשי אחי

  • I can but echo MrKanpel's words from a week ago. I don't think any other artist moves me more than Matt Johnson around this era.

  • The more I see

    The less I know

About all the things I thought were wrong or right

    & carved in stone

    So, don't ask me about

    War, Religion, or God

    Love, Sex, or Death

    Because....

Everybody knows what's going wrong with the world

But I don't even know what's going on in myself.

  • You've gotta work out your own salvation. With no explanation to this Earth we fall On hands & knees we crawl And we look up to the stars And we reach out & pray To a deaf, dumb & blind God who never explains. Every body knows what's going wrong with the world But I don't even know what's going on in myself. Lord, I've been here for so long I can feel it coming down on me I'm just a slow emotion replay of somebody I used to be.
  • Excelente canción de 1991, buen grupo ochentero THE THE

  • TheThe ... amazing music with a message. Also check out the 'thisistheday' website.. Matt Johnson is about a lot more than just music.

  • Thank you!

  • to all of you who want to know what the man is crying about at about3;19 or so,...it's a clip of the night that Bobby Kennedy got shot in L.A. back in 1968...remember seeing it back then...jesus, I'm old!

  • @webkinzfreak221 thanks for the info..I was only 3 y.o. when RFK was assassinated.

  • I love this song... reminds me of happy days!

  • Matt Johnson's output was always kind of uneven (His Hank Williams cover album is definitely worth a listen), but the two albums he did with Marr onboard The The were both pure poetry.....

  • I love all the albums he made, I can't think of another musician who is so diffferent in his production while keeping quality through his career.

  • This singer is an absolute genius, I think his talent is way underrated.

  • AGREED :)

  • it is the 'the the' thanks for posting

  • Nao e so Show!!! isso me faz lembrar de uma epoca do Surf music, hj ouvi um set da oi fm em rede nacional, onde o ouvinte manda um set para a radio e eles tocam, e essa musica tinha pensado e a mesma tocou!

  • Essa musica é show!

  • Excellent band - and probably the last thing they were thinking about in the 80's was whether they could be found easily on Google.

  • I'm sorry you are a moron, but these guys formed in 1979.

  • u dont know how to use google.

  • Once upon a time in the UK....always loved the harmonica playing of Matt...and i like this song...love the Annie Sprinkle cameo...what a party that must of been...Where are they now...???

  • Matt didn't play the harmonica, I think the gorgeousJohnny Marr did when he was in the band. He definitely is in this video plus The Beat(en) Generation and Dogs Of Lust... They got another harmonica player after he left.

  • Thank you ladytawny...cool trivia for me...appreciated!!!

  • Homophobe.

  • Any evidence to back this up or do you just make childish comments?

  • You must be kidding! Now that would be fkin weird...

  • One of the best songs ever. Matt Johnson was and is a genius.

  • yeah but apparently he's really into like nazi and fascist stuff. i saw an interview with him talking about mein kampf

  • One of the most impressive pop songs ever written.

  • Top TOP tune. Yet again Matt Johnson nails the frustration and bafflement that I feel with our so-called leaders whilst blowing me away with a brilliantly hooky tune.

The man is an underrated genius.

  • saw them open for Depeche Mode ,,,love the song

  • Great, Great Band. . . nothing else to be said

  • i love this bandd !!

  • you gotta work out your own salvation, but with no explanation to this earth we fall...on hand and knees we crawl :) one of the greatest song I've ever known ;P

  • And we look up to the stars

And we reach out & pray

To a deaf, dumb & blind God who never explains. : )

  • LORD I've been here for so long...I can feel it comin'down on me...;)

  • I'm just a slow emotion replay of somebody I used to be.

  • "we look up to the stars, we reach out and pray, to a deaf, dumb, and blind god who never explains"

I'm just a slow emotion replay of somebody I used to be.

    Brilliant. Thanks for posting it.

  • man this reminds me of mad times! and doesn't marr look like noel g in this vid haha

  • youre right! its like seeing the future.

  • I'm just a slow emotion replay of somebody I used to be.

  • I love The The. Their songs from Dusk NEVER get old!! So moving. I saw them live when they opened for (hard to believe but they did) Guns & Roses in the early

90s. They were excellent live! They are superior in every way.

  • great sound and great lyrics

  • The video for 'Infected' was so revolutionary it was shown on Channel 4, way back in the day. You can't even get it on DVD now. What's going on!!!???

  • The The (and Matt Johnson) are an exceptional band. This is my favourite track of theirs. Saw them live in the early 90s in Brixton. Anyone got a recent update on them?

We think that with enough interest he might go for the idea. The plan is to get as much support as we can so if your interested in helping plz spread the word and join The The (and Matt johnsons) Face book and my space pages and check for further details.
