no, theres a high command who is calling the shots like where the next spawn is going to be, control supplies (you only get so many units and getting killed reduced the number) it must be like an RTS for them, they are actual players- vets.but i think they fight too because they have a special uniform on the field.its not like they can draw an invisible barrier around u somewhere- your free to go wherever you want its just you probably wont find anyone far away from the spawnpoint they've chosen

IMO this game would make more sense if it were made after the Vietnam War. There's about 100 players on at any time but this is not enough to really make it feel like world war 2. If it were vietnam it would feel perfect because there was just alot of small skirmishes in nam like there kind if are in this game. Theres usually one main fight in wwiiol with a few spec ops missions going on on the side and alot of sneaking around- the game's dynamic fits to Nam way more than WWII.

The greatest things that all other games dont give you that have superior graphics, is teh feeling that whatever you do means somethign int eh entirety of teh war, whatever you do effects alot of aspects of the game, whatever you do effects the sway of the battle big or small. But there is no other game that is alive war like this, you are paying for the experience of a real virtual war, not just a game.

The reaplay value is infinite for the sake that the game is contantly upgraded!

there was like multiple clusters of 50-100 players and this was at 3:00am USA time. Despite the dated graphx ppl this game has NO problem attracting and keeping players. I wish more companies would stop making the best graphics and worry more about making a fun game like they have here. it's probably important to point out that this game has changed a LOT since this was posted.

and for anyone who's not so sold on the graphics: the graphics were never the selling point.. but when you have a seamless world where a good portion of europe is modeled 1/2 scale, and there's so many layers of strategy and really impressive dynamics going on, there's just no other game like it, at all. it's NOT a simple PvP game; every single action you take has direct consequences on the larger war.

The best game for big battles has been planetside, over a hundred of us holding off waves of attacks and tanks, from a small hill that had lots of rocks and crevices for cover but eventually we then started to crumble under pressure due to superior enemy numbers, but then loads of reinforcements came from another continent where a campaign had just been won and the battle swang in our favour again. Join the 23rd armor and we will show you where everyone is. Your not suppost to spawn on the white missions if you're new . Those are resupply missions most of the time, those missions are for the people traveling weapons from one town to another and you don't see people that much because they are somewhere out of town on the road heading to the frontlines. There's an in-game keymapper to allow customization for unit controls: infantry I stick to keyboard/mouse, then for all armor, trucks, ships, anti-aircraft & anti-tank guns I use joystick/mouse combo. I don't fly in the game - but to fly you need a really good joystick which I only have a basic Microsoft Sidewinder.

Yes. Not much though - I pay $14.95/month & as addicted I am to the game, it's totally worth it. As much as I play, that's literally pennies per hour. They have free promo periods often too for new people to try it out see how they like it. Yeah thats the barrier for some when considering whether or not to play. Longer promo periods where people could gain more rank to try more units (some units require a specific rank level) might attract & keep more people. Considering the fact that it costs over $50 to fill my truck w/ gas, 14.95 isn't much at all. Throw in the addiction factor & well, there ain't no escapin' for me. On the bright side, I gave up drinking some years ago & this game has in a way filled in that "role".
