How nice for Industrialized countries to rob, pillage and steal the third world countries resources and subjucate their people to poverty and misery and then once per year visit those same third world countries that we have robbed and put into poverty and hand out some presents to some children.
We can wrap it all up with a cheesy christian, christmas song and a bow and make ourselves feel better and claim that we have made a difference in the life of a child.
So you're saying that we who give the gifts are in control of the other things that go on in these countries? We are only doing what we can, come on! It might not make a global difference to war or economic injustice, but seriously- would you stop us?
I'd like to see you try! Come on, if we're doing such a terrible thing, come out with a campaign to stop us from being so hypocritical!
Fact is: If we didn't, these kids wouldn't have this joy at all.
I'm well aware that its the Developed countries that hold the key to pulling our fellow humans out of the mud- but what can we as induviduals do? Yeah, we can consume locally grown foods and products, but that still leaves these people without...they still have economies to build and in the meantime?
We don't do this to feel good about ourselves! Thats the bonus! It makes a persobn feel happy to do somehting nice.
Is that so very immoral? Sorry for trying to make a poor child smile.
The same people who give the gifts are not the same who take from those countries. My family gives to Operation Christmas Child every year, but we have never hurt any of the people in the places the gifts go to.
You seem to be a bitter person with nothing better to do with your time than belittle others.
Stop wasting your energy complaining and start using it to making a difference.
