  • The volume of both setups was the same. Adding an enclosure increases the volume. Enclosure made from a business card. Experimenting with different materials for the enclosure would change the sound.

The decoder is an Alco DSD101-LC from Soundtraxx with only volume adjustments for the Diesell, Horn and Bell sounds. The later Tsunami decoders from Soundraxx provide many more adjustments and an Equalizer that allows the user to "tailor" his sounds. The high end clatter is in the recording.

  • I agree with the comment below. Too much high-end mechanical 'clatter' noise with the speaker enclosure. I wondered what the enclosure was made of, and also whether the sound volume was set higher for the part of the clip with the enclosure. apollo300350, have you been experimenting with other speaker enclosures and getting better results?

  • Strange, but it sounded better w/o enclosure.
