  • Nice playing, what competition was this for?

  • I think this was for the Hilton Head or Louisiana Competition? I was way in above my head at this stage, and the whole recording is just not up to standard.

  • nice played and cool piano :) i want one too

  • Haha cheers! Kawai RXes are indeed very nice instruments! Just lucky to have one at home...

  • too slow!!!!

  • ...well unfortunately, Beethoven wanted it not to be quick...so...

  • Piano sonata no 32 op 111 is very challenging, try that

  • ...ah, I've been sight-reading that every now and then...the 2nd movt. is a very beautiful, mature challenge indeed.

  • You also might try studying the aesthetics ofthe 4th piano concerto before playing this piece. Using Bach as a philosophical floor doesn't explore the piece enough, it is tonally a broad and eloquent composition.

  • ...it's a bit too late to "study" it before playing this piece now, isn't it? ;)

  • yay yay ^^ thank you!

  • Excellent!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks!!!!!!

  • The thing about the 1st movement is that you have to have a big hand or at least have very good control of the wrists in order to pull off the section with the alberte sort of base ( I think that's how you spell it???)

  • ...it's spelt alberti ^^

  • try to use a fingering wich at the beginning seems more difficult but stress less the wideopening of the hand

    5-1-2-1 5-1-3-1 5-1-4!!-1

  • I'll try it

  • Would you say it is hard to learn? I really love the whole sonata but god knows the first movement is too hard for me so I really want to learn this movement. You play very well :)

  • I think it's not difficult to learn the notes of, yet it is difficult to bring off very well. Getting the balance right, the tone, and that calm, pastoral Beethoven character occassionally seasoned with some tumult will takes time.

I learnt this sonata in 2004 and kept it until 2005, then I brought it back again in 2007. It wasn't terribly good in 2005, but here in the recording (2007) I felt more...satisfied...everything just became more natural as the years passed by.

    ...and thanks!

  • I like how you respected the tempo marking, "not too swiftly" because its a nice tempo.

  • Thanks =)

  • Very nice! I love this Beethoven movement -- so lyrical.

  • Absolutely! That said, I think I still prefer the 3rd movt. of the op. 109, also in E major...

  • Beautiful

  • Thanks =)
