@epicevie1 No it's not a dove, it's a "Common Wood Pigeon" (you can Google it). It had fallen off the nest and was getting attacked by a cat ~ we chased the cat away and got the bird into a rescue place within an hour. This rescue place looks after wild animals and they are very professional. However, regardless of the immediate help the pigeon didn't survive the cat attack.
Aww what a shame. Cat attacks are often the kiss of death on a bird because of the cat saliva and the backteria on the claws, both high;ly toxic to a bird. I like to administer a double dose of baytril antibiotic as soon as possible, then keep up with the regular dose over the next 5 days if the bird gets over the first vital 24 hours. Bless you for trying and for getting the little victim medical help as fast as you did. There will be no dangers, only peace and joy where the bird is now.
@AnnieBirdy Thanks for the post ~ and sorry for the late reply! Unfortunately regardless of the immediate help the baby received, she passed away within 24 hours! The scratches weren't deep, but perhaps it came down to the cat saliva or bacteria ~ or pure shock, you never know! Very sad.
Well, actually not. :( The baby got professional help with 2,5 hours of the attack, but it didn't make it! They said there was most likely some internal bleeding from the cat attack... SAD!!! :S And yeah, birds are the best!! :) Do you have any?
Yes, it's a pigeon! A wood pigeon, one of those light gray ones. I've raised baby pigeons before, so I know it's a pigeon... Probably only about 1,5 weeks old. They look funny in this age.. :)

Hello my friend! :) In a hurry now, so it's just gonna be a quick one! YEAH, I found this little thing; I was in the kitchen, looked out and saw a CAT sitting on the grass and something was moving in front of it ~ immediately knew it was a PIGEON! So I ran out like SUPERMAN (though he flies;), and found the baby!! Guess how shocked I was? It had two injuries and was bleeding a bit. I found a wildlife sanctuary that took it in, because of the injuries.. So, that's the story ~ he's alive. :)

It sucks sooo much.Domesticated cats are the reason why millions of birds die per year. Cats need to be kept indoors at all times!
