  • You heard people? at 2:23 that's what happens when you eat TOO MUCH sugar, not just eating sugar. Everything in excess is bad, but we need all nutrients in moderation. & the reason people would get headaches and fatigue when they "burn fat instead of sugar" is because you DON'T burn fat when u don't eat carbs, ur protein will be used as glucose, and all that fatigue and headaches could be a result of Ketosis, which is very common in people who do atkins. So people, just eat carbs the right way.

    Being in Ketosis does Not cause headaches.or fatigue. In fact, you will have fewer headaches and far less fatigue while in ketosis.

    It would be nice if people would take a moment and learn the facts about how their metabolism works before posting unfounded rumors.

    Your body does not need any external source of carbohydrates. It will make all the blood glucose it needs from the fat it has stored if you do not give it carbs. That includes when you are working out.

    Dr. Atkins was not and is not the only source for reliable health and nutrition information.

    I've studied diet and metabolism for many years. I have personally been in ketosis for over a decade. I don't have headaches or fatigue and none of the people I know that are also in ketosis have headaches or fatigue.

    You declarations of headaches, fatigue and protein use for glucose are baseless and without merit.

    Your entire post was and is ridiculous.

    Dr. Atkins was far more than a "registered dietitian". He was a Doctor treating real patients with real health conditions and getting real results.

    He was no parrot chanting the latest mainstream fad nutrition advice.

    Beyond that, low carb diets have been around for many decades, Doctor Atkins just happened to get his name attached to it in the effort to share the info with the public.

    I guess they don't teach history in "registered dietitian" school.

Yea I'm sure they just use dummies. You want facts? ok idiot, your body will not use your fat for fuel unless your glycogen stores are depleted. Your body will use the protein from your diet and muscle to make glucose, this is known as gluconeogenesis. If you didn't even know that then I really feel sory for you.

  • @LeeFoxRox And since you don't even know what Ketosis is I'm just gona go ahead and tell you, when your body uses fat as fuel, it has to make ketone bodies first because fat not as "efficient" as you think. When you keep doing this over a long period of time, Ketones will acumulate in your bloodstream, and you'll have Ketosis. I know you think that's so healthy but remember your kidneys are doing all the work to excrete all that excess acetone out, but you knew that already right?

For someone who's not a kid, and probably older that me, at would have at least expected enough wisdom to listen to advice and know which sources to trust, but I guess they don't teach that in "Atkins" school either. I understand is only natural that older people think they know everything, but you're wrong.

Oh and I'm not all against low carb diets, as long as they're not high in fat, but high in fiber, which would actually not make it a low "carb" diet, only low on the simple carbs (sugar).   • You can have fruit on OWL, even with the new book. Fruit doesn't have to wait until Maintenance. In the 2002 Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, fruit was the 4th rung of OWL.

    It's not good to have the author get the details wrong!
