  • It may not be the all time fastest but the VW Beetle has countless uses for its basic platform and drivetrain! Rebuilt as a buggy is among the most popular conversions! And yes, with careful modifications, you can even prep it to sail the ocean like a boat - and float indefinitely! Look closely at the specially-built exhaust pipes in this video.

  • hee hee 0:29 . reminds me of Herbie rides again when the car is in the ocean and surfing .

  • I see by this commercial that even in Peru, Beetles got "customized" with hippie flower designs. This must've been fairly common, for it to appear in a commercial.

  • yup in Mexico its called the VW SEDAN not the beatle

  • @aaronpourazar in mexico we call it vocho

  • bullshit i tried this and sunk it in the beaver dam

  • and they sold those bitches to mexico all the way until 2004

  • hmmmm escaping to the border in a floating bug I would do it

  • AWESOME CAR !! VIVA BUG!!!

  • classic car.

  • mine doesn't shift into second. 1965 beetle

  • Why do they shot the buggy? VW never made those.

  • They normally have a standard VW Flat-4 in them.

  • No shit. they share all the mechanical components and chassis, too, but that doesn't change the fact that they're not made by volkswagen. It's like ford advertising the lotus seven because you could put one of their engines in it.

  • Nobody actually made one but it is partly VW. So whats the Problem. You idiot.

  • "Nobody actually made one"

So what, they pop out of the sky like magic? Do they grow from VW junkyards? Did herbie suffer severe radiation poisoning before becoming a father?

People make them. Cars don't just happen.

Unless you mean no company made them, in which case : WRONG. you can't exactly bake fiberglass in your driveway.

  • No wonder dumbshit.

  • @richardmaudsley77 i dont know i think herbie did have kids or something lol idk the VW is gettin rarer by the minute! i gotta find one kauick

  • @richardmaudsley77 THEY DO IN MEXICO in the 70's they use to make the buggy for the beach, also if you remove the shell of a beetle you"ll get a buggy ,same engine sporty style *

  • i have a 1963 vw ragtop bug and i float it in water

  • I went down to Mexico about 2 years ago and ALOT of people still drive these models

  • No duh.. VW sold there building rights to Mexico, so they've been making them up until 2003.

  • @avatardudefan YES WITH ALL GERMAN PARTS THEY ASSEMBLE IN PUEBLA ,MEXICO.

  • @luverdude

The Mexican Beeltes weren't made from German parts.. they were indigenous Mexican. (Indeed the cheapest pattern Beetle parts in Europe for the last 20 years have been 'Hecho en Mexico'.)

  • BUILD VOLKSWAGEN TOUGH

  • Eth eth eth, eth eth eth, eth eth - Chris Waddle.

    Scorchio!

  • DUDE!!!

my uncle owned one like the one at 01:05 but yellow.

  • that would be a fastback

  • sminky pinky boutrous ghali

    SCORCHIO!!

  • You are right! But, I remember this voice from Mexican commercial when I was a boy.

  • Not mexican ad, because VW of Mexico never produced the Type 3; Maybe that cars was made it in Brazil for the South American market. (Hey! Check the Ultra-mega-rare double air filter in the beetle engine; WOW!)

  • No yet! in Brazil never exist the VW Type 3, in Brazil exist the another version inpired in Type 3, the VW 1600 4 doors, and sequencially the VW Variant e VW TL, every cars inspirated in the Type 3 line!

  • LOL

  • short of money? can't afford a boat? buy a volkswagen beetle!

It's peruvian

  • The commercial is peruvian indeed. The voice is from Arturo del Pomar as VWGustavo noted. In the 60's and early 70's the VWs were initially imported Germany and later from Brazil and Mexico. On late 70's beetles were assembled in Peru from parts imported from Brazil.

  • Hey that psychellic bug is groovy babee!

  • Whichever is your preference (zoom to the Beetle): In detailing (interior of the Beetle) in its line (a... Type 2?) its capacity (a Type 4), for the family, for passangers (a Type 2 next to a lake) or cargo (two cargo-specific Type 2 appear and a very 70s Beetle drives by). But don't be surpised, because Volkswagen is surprising. (The whole line appears). Buying Volkswagen is buying functional economy (the last part, functional economy is what appears as the slogan).

    -Commanderraf

  • Translation:

A Volkswagen can do many things. It's surprising! (A Meyer Manx Flies by, some racing cars drive by and the VW Beetle wads in some kind of lake) The classic Volkswagen is surprising because it's hermetic. (Zoom to the Beetle). It's surprising thanks to its power (the hood opens revealing a working engine). Surprising thanks to its handling (the racing cars drift by).
