It sounds beautiful, play from your heart I say so if some think its a little fast I say I would rather hear someone playing from their heart then always so technically correct...and as a side note when i play it sometimes i play it slow. lol who cares as long as we are happy doing it and I just loved listening to you play its beautiful! It's a piece that takes a lot of "dynamics" finesse to perform properly. I find you're playing it a bit too affirmative. It has an air of reflection and wonder in it. Listen to Leif Ove Andsnes. I'm sure there are many other concert pianists that play this well. It shouldn't be play with strong dynamic variation in my opinion, no thundering statements. It's utopia attained and reflection on the journey.

For everyone who hates how fast I played this, I agree! lol I did play too fast--this was my first attempt at a vid and I was nervous.  Someday when I get a chance I will do another and hopefully do it in a more correct manner.

This is probably a silly question!

But is there any part of the song where you are playing more then 7 notes in either hand...so more then an octave, all at once!

Becasue i love this piece, but often have to change pieces becasue i have small-ish hands and cant reach more then 7 notes in width at a time...

Any way now the silly question is out the way!

hey :).. i think a lot of people have that problem.. me too sometimes.. so i think the way to solve this is to either do a spread chord (where u play notes one by one - normally from the bottom note of the chord).. use the pedal to smoothen the texture and most of the times it sounds just as nice :)in some cases, u can sometimes play the top note or maybe even top 2 notes of the chord with your right hand instead of left which allows you to play them all at once. hope this helped

I don't think it was too fast, but I think that some of the "give and take" messed up some of the rhythms, and some of the douplets were rushed because of that. But amazing. I'm learning this piece for NYSSMA, and it's such an inspiration to see the end product while in the learning process.

I think it's up to the pianist to interpret the music in their own way. You may not agree with their interpretation, but it is not for you to decide. That's what I love about music, by changing certain things in tempo and so on, you can completely change the meaning of the song into what it means to you, or what you want it to mean to other people. But yes, personally I prefer it at a slower tempo than this. But I won't judge this particualr artistic interpretation.

I have to say first that it beats the crap out of what I can do on the piano. Just for some constructive criticism I would say that you rushed it almost all of the way through. You definitely played the music, but I would evaluate the tempo one more time before you perform it in front of anyone who is likely to critique you from a Debussy familiar background. Which is great but they flew a little too fast, and you missed a few notes. ;) Also, give more time for your audience to digest what you're playing. Add more pauses and breaks into the piece.
