  • DURAN DURAN RULES !!!!

  • Beautiful song!

  • Very nice song!

  • Haven't heard this in 20 years. I remember the tape warped on this song from the hours of play. My Freshmen year at Purdue University, this tune was a euphoric ambrosia to my ears, placing DD in the legendary category forever!!!!

  • The way Duran controlled Palomino was excellent. One of his best performances ever, maybe not as great as the SRL fight. But still an excellent showcase of Durans abilites

  • tunes is touching!!!!!!!!!!!!!the most underrated band

  • Blaady 'ell, this sends shivers down my spine! In a good way, like.

  • Absolutely beautiful!! Fantastic job on a stunning video interpretation!

  • legend!!!

  • This song simply touches the soul and you have given it excellent visual dimension.

  • You absolutely NAILED this song with your video. Beautiful. Thank you so much.

  • Laura, this is a stunning interpretation! Really beautiful imagery, and sensitively put together. You've got a knack, girl! I adore this song, one of their best in my humble opinion... Thanks! =0)

  • @brbgal You say their earlier stuff was before "your" time??? How about this! I got into Duran when I was 14....in 1995!! Their covers album Thank You was the first record by them I ever bought! And I am a HUGE Duranie now and have been since '95! This song is my absolute fave off of Big Thing, and I also put it in my top 3 album list. Believe it or not, their brand new album All You Need Is Now, is now also in my top 3 list!!!

  • all musicians should hear a bit of this song.

  • I didn't get into DD until I was 16, when this album came out (Big Thing) Their earlier stuff was before "My" time . I talked my parents into getting me the cassette of Big Thing, and I listened to it OVER and OVER. This was my fave song on it. I haven't heard it in over 8 yrs, and I still remember all the words...and it still brings tears to my eyes because it is SO beautiful. Regardless of how old THEY are or I am, DD will always rule in my book.

  • @brbgal what a cofession. joli!

  • @brbgal Indeed. i was actually listening to the tape version while i was cleaning the garage.

  • Something in this song, you can almost feel it breathe...

  • chr*** i thought you guys were argueing about politics. i was ready to go off. 'its just a duran duran song!' i guess its the usualy which-band/artist-is-better debate again this time :D

  • perfect

  • It's funny how this song takes me back to specific time of my life while in college back in '88. This entire album still holds up well today.

  • I LOOOOVVVE this song!!! One of my favorites from Duran Duran!

  • One of the Triple Crowns of the Big Thing CD - the others being Land and Shame. All 3 tracks have a soulful and simmering intensity. A breathless escape of brilliant music you can call your own.

  • Has anyone ever seen a movie about a mare palomino and her foal and at the end the mother dies. I can't remember what it's called, but I have been searching for it and I can't find it. PLEASE HELP, oh and the mother dies from falling off a cliff I know sad :(

  • TO CO NAJLEPSZE W DD

  • this was an underrated album

  • There are millions and millions of people in the world who know nothing about this song. How fortunate are we who know. Love it to pieces...

  • @MsMarimoos That's nothing! There are billions of people who have never even heard of The Durutti Column or Arvo Part. This is merely a rather pleasant piece of background music (minus the whining voice of course).

  • @MisAnnThorpe There is no 'whining' voice on this sweetheart-think you've heard too much Robbie Williams, Damon Albarn, Liam Gallagher/Noel Gallagher and Ronan Keating shit to be honest! Billions of us live quite happily without knowing anything about either Durutti Column or Arvo Part (what?!). Whereas very few don't know of Duran.

  • @TheMjblades Why do people like you insist on displaying their ignorance as if it were a badge of honour? Lumping Albarn (tosser that he is) alongside the other drivel you mention defies belief & is akin to comparing Bjork or Siouxsie Sioux with Sinitta or Kim Wilde! Duran's best ever album, (imo) Notorious (doesn't even come close to Blur's 13 or Think tank & Gorillaz' Demon days is on another planet from any DD LP! The mere fact that you obviously mistake fame for talent tells me everything!

  • @MisAnnThorpe More to the bloody point, why can't ANYONE not even write a comment on a Duran video (if so WHERE can you?) without pointless losers like you acting like its defying the laws of the world. Kim Wilde is nothng like trashy non-singer Sinitta, Siouxsie Sioux is an overacclaimed boring twit with dull songs and shitpop Blurb won't ever do anything even average-the fact YOU believe something is gold-dust jus cos its hyped past the stars (something Duran NEVER are) makes you the moron!

  • @TheMjblades Easily riled aren't we! DD were never hyped?! Do you know what hype(rbole) actually means? No, well let me explain! It means simply to exaggerate. The pop music industry is built on hype & DD have benefited greatly from it, as have Oasis, Blur & the Beatles but you obviously think DD got to be the biggest band on the planet on the strength of songs like, Is there something I should know?, Union of the snake & Wild boys?! In common with most Durannies you're lacking any objectivity.

  • @MisAnnThorpe You can talk-you're here under a Duran vid insulting them-when I say not hyped, you twat, I mean that unlike SHIT like Blur & Madonna etc, they got hated by the pointless music press and still are-unlike the crap of today. In common with sarcastic, argumentative losers like you with love for the overacclaimed pompous shit of this world, you're the one without objectivity. The Duran songs you name are not even true representative of all they've done in 30 years, you deaf cow!

  • @TheMjblades You obviously didn't heed my advice about not writing when angry did you! You make a fair point when you say that DD were never press darlings & yes, imo, they have been given an unfair ride by the music press but then releasing drivel like Wild boys hasn't exactly helped their cause & neither has the fact that image has always been so important for them. Do you really believe Madonna is less talented than Kim Wilde? I have yet to hear a Kim Wilde song as strong as Like a prayer.

  • @MisAnnThorpe lol! 1 day I will try calming before I reply to something kinda outrageous. To be fair, Madonna releases crap like Like A Virgin & True Blue and gets praised, Duran have never been so low. DO YOU really think the overrated Madonna is MORE talented than Kim just cos she steals all styles, humps anything that moves & lives to provoke a reaction over actual depth of tune? Do you even listen to Kim? She's covered loads of things from police brutality, environmental decay, paranoia...

  • @TheMjblades Whether or not you like an artist, you have to acknowledge longevity and Madonna has been having hits for nearly 30 years. Surely that counts for something? I've never bought a Madonna record in my life but with the exception of the execrable Gambler, (almost as bad as Wild boys) I think all of the tracks you mention have been good pop songs. Yeah, Like a prayer probably is her best, which is why I mention it but there's a very long list of pop records she has made. Again, as you

  • @MisAnnThorpe Actually all it really counts for is that the nasty old squealing harridan doesn't know when to quit. Familairity breathes contempt and spreading y'self too thickly are terms made for her. 'Gambeler' is beyond hideous, but so is much of her crap-Duran have NEVER done anything so bad, Spandau Ballet, yes, but they're cheesy trash. Hype & controversy IS all you need to keep going-about the only thing she did create, and that's hardly worthy. Bad things endure and people are stupid-

  • @TheMjblades say, she does rely on being controversial, is overrated & not a good singer by any stretch of the imagination, but over the last 30 years or so, I don't think there's been another female artist, nor many male, who've come close to her level of success. I feel that hype & controversy alone can't explain that success. To the best of my knowledge, Madonna does play a big part in the writing of her music. No, of course I don't listen to Kim Wilde! As you've already said, I'm a snob!

  • @MisAnnThorpe -that's the only way I can explain it. Mind you, critics have long said "Just cos something sells tonnes and is held up as something other than it is, doesn't mean it's any good" Explains her completely, I'd say, and with each year she hangs around, unlike Duran-a proper musical force, she only gets worse, cos she has nothing to give, but disappearing is not in her robotic getup. Btw if you don't click on a few Kim vids past the obvious 3 songs, how will you know what she can do?!

  • @MisAnnThorpe 'Like A Prayer' is just 1 song-and many think she peaked with that one. Is it so great? Lyrics anyone could have written & all she's doing is trying to shock again. Many who dismiss Kim don't even half a clue of what she's done. At just 23 she wrote an amazing song call 'Shangri-La' and another called 'Fit In'-and that includes the music, and she played on both. Madogga can't play instruments and all those early stinkers Holiday, Like A Virgin, Angel, Gambler she barely wrote!

  • @TheMjblades That you still refer to Blur in terms of 'Britpop' tells me that your prejudice has prevented you from listening to anything Albarn has done in at least 10 years! Equally demonstrative of your bias, not to mention your downright appalling taste in music is your utter dismissal of Siouxsie whilst defending the "talents" of Kim Wilde! Oh, may I take this opportunity to offer you a little advice? Never write when angry, as it does nothing for your already limited communication skills!

  • @MisAnnThorpe Your hypocrisy knows no bounds-I refer to Blur as britpop cos that's all they are-but they're not worthy of any tag anyway-apart from embarrassing Monkeys knock-offs with bad voices. You're not biased, your musical love is for shit-the Psych Furs & Talk Talk being far too good for your bog-standard fare. Kim Wilde is worth way more than the silly mumblings of Banshee bag and Bjork is so overly-eccentric for her own good and you can't make out any diction, you arrogant snobby cunt!

  • @TheMjblades As I've already stated the term "Britpop" means nothing to me anymore than New wave of new wave. Remember that one?! Just another meaningless media invention. I think the fact that I actually appreciate Blur/Gorillaz despite the fact I really don't like Damon Albarn suggests that I do possess at least some sense of objectivity. Of course he has a shite voice! Who in the pop world doesn't apart from Liz Fraser, Marvin Gaye Jim Morrison & maybe a few others. Certainly not Le Bon!

  • @MisAnnThorpe Objectivity not so much as liking what music critcs tell us too. You seem strangely numb to the actual promise the music world once had and Mr Le Bon can sing pretty much anyone today under the table without even smiling! Back in the 80s (and before) people had distinctive voices, some better than others. The pop world since the 90s is entirely different, so of course now everyone sounds shit, they either howl or shriek like Pariah Carey and Knowles or they are robotic like Kylie.

  • @MisAnnThorpe I might also add that my communication skills are fine-when snobby, arrogant, condescending losers like you think others are benaeth them just cos they happen to disagree with every failed musician's (i.e rock critic) pompous view of what's considered superior musically to another style or person. I see someone else has already messaged you're inbox about you being exactly what you are and using a less-than-flattering term (you do rather bring it out don't you?)-Go get Bjorked!

  • I had forgotten about this song. I cry everytime I hear it, I think it such an amazing tribute to their talent as songwriters, musicians and artists.

  • I had totally forgotten about this GORGEOUS song by Duran Duran. I immediately bought it on iTunes right after I watched your video. Great interpretation of the song! Love, love, love it!

  • This is such an amazing song. Absolutely beautiful..

  • Gives me the shivers,a sign of a boss tune

  • This song has haunted me ever since I heard it the very first time. I still remember wanting to come up with a dance that matched the rhythm(s) in this. Thank you so very much for posting this!! A lot of really good memories from a better "age"!

  • A lot of typical duran duran feeling in this song...I love it

  • Perfection without equal

  • So beautiful~ just perfect!

  • i forgot how gorgeous this is... now i remember how it left an echo trail in me the first time i heard it ...

  • I love this album,but what`s the inspiration behind this tune ?.

  • @ArmouredCharmer

A wild, untamed spirit of a lost love.... desperately trying to come to a meeting of the minds with the true love of her life. A palomino is known for its unruly and independent spirit. "Awaken beside the scent of burnt sugar on her skin" a vanilla musk...makes such a definitive and realistic statement. Aaahhh, it just touches me. It certainly moves my soul.

  • great song. gay ass video.

  • amazing video for this song.

    fucking kudos.

  • you did a wonderful job of putting the sultry and moody spirit of this brilliant song to video. love it!

  • Ah!!! Palomino...

    Good memories in my mind.

Thank you Duran Duran...Cheers from Brazil!!

  • las imagenes no me gustan pero este es un temazo de los mas bellos de Duran Duran.

  • Una canción muy especial...olvidada en el tiempo y recordada con el corazón.

  • I first heard this 10 years ago when I was 14 and still remember all the words-the sign of an incredible song-it leaves such an impression you can never forget it!

  • Loves this!!!! :0) xxx

  • This song still gives me goose bumps xxx

  • such beauty its like a poem

  • @dientje0 you just grabed the words right out of my mouth.

  • Simply pure genious! One of DD's best ballads very groomy, blues, sexy and sublime!

  • Big Thing was VERY underrated, I had the cassette tape and wore it out. This song is beyond description...brings back so many memories...

  • Between this and "My Antartica" I just don't know what to do with myself...

  • I must agree with V.K. - the song is beautiful beyond explanation - it's timeless and I am delighted to find such a beautiful video to accompany it! <3 <3 <3

  • Gentlemens, Turn off the lights, take your lady by the hand and dance slowly with her.

  • Big Thing is awesome record. I listened to it all through the 90's, and my friends were like "Duran Duran"? And I would keep saying "Just listen to the record, man."

  • Beautiully done!!! The video totally set the mood for this song. =) Thank U. I hadn't listened to my Duran Duran (records) since I lost them. I remember as a teen I would just sit and listen over and over again to them. Loved the mystery behind songs like this.

  • beutiful song, simon is the best , is a sweet person

  • me encanta lo dulce que es Simon, tenemos algo en comun

  • I love the colours you used, like being half-blinded by the sun, and all these images of the sea - just where the song took me when I heard it for the first time, and ever since. Great work!

  • Big Thing was an underrated album

  • @Reedrup I completely agree.

  • One of the best videos I've ever seen. Beautifully done.

  • For me the Big Thing was the most completing album of Duran Duran till then, every song has something

  • one of the best songs on the Big Thing album

  • A very special song and wonderfull video. for me...

  • Very big Respect.

  • This song drives deep into my soul...I fall in love with it a little more each time. Seeing Simon being tender with the girls in the scences and the images of bellydancers and horses just wedges it deeper in. Great video!

  • I forgot this song existed!

  • The planet has never heard better music than this. If there is a place offering better sonic majesty than this, I'd love to visit there....

  • Big Thing is their best in the post-pinnacle era. After that I sort of lost touch / interest with their stuff because the direction they went in. But this song is haunting as is Land.

  • 1 of my favourites of all times!

  • I think duran duran don´t choose very well their singles

  • agree to all and "land" and "too late marlene" are two of my faves but as everyone is saying, this is one of my all time favorite cd's period.

  • great song from a great album. Big Thing is strange the first time you listen to it but it grows on you, Too Late Marlene is one of the best on the album. Warren plays well on Big Thing

  • @KEISERS0SE I agree with you. When I first got it, I was thrown off by it coz it goes to different areas of sounds but after a few more plays, I grew to love it. Alas, thats why I love Duran, they never sound the same.

  • @KEISERS0SE i had that experiance too.. it was actualy the first cd i was able to find.. it was strange.. then.. about 12 years ago.. still is..

  • Love this song. But is great video, good work.

  • I cannot even begin to explain how beautiful this song is. Greatness.

  • I SO agree with you! Man....DD is wonderful :)

  • @VanessaKrystle I agree completely! this song is so powerful....music, lyrics and overall effect

  • I can't agree more! It's a stupendous song in every which way....

  • I love this song so much. Big thing was one of there best albums in my opinion.

  • underrated classic

  • Very pretty song!

  • My favorite un-hit song from Duran Duran. I may listen it near 4 times a week.

  • In 1988, when Duran Duran had a concert in Seoul, I think this was the beginning song. I never knew what this wonderful song's title was because it's not one of the most popular songs from them. How beautiful!

  • My Deepest Dream!!!!

  • Xellent interpretation. Its good to see people appreciate the not so publicized songs of DD. The album may not have risen as high as their previous efforts, it has held its strength. I think if some of songs were touched up and re-released they would do awesome. I find myself listening to Lake Shore quite a bit still. Great vibe for the summer.

  • I am totally agree you

  • This is a great song! Erotic, lyrical, symbolic

  • To me Notorious and Big Thing were their most mature albums. Gone are the youthful experimentations of synth on their earlier albums.

If you consider So Red The Rose as DD, I would think that would be the bridge to Notorious and Big Thing.

All 3 albums were their best. Later albums just don't do it for me. They feel more "poppish" and the worse side of pop.

I love the intro to this song. "The Cool Steel Guitar" just sounds so sublime.

  • Respect.

  • Oh, I love this song! =)

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • This is a beautiful interpretation of the song......well done. This should've been on an episode of Miami Vice!

  • This is an absolutely beautiful video interpretation of an absolutely beautiful song.

    5 Stars and Playlisted it!

    MeOw!

  • in response - liberty had 3 dodgy ish tracks - but the rest is brilliant - big thing! well as a duran fan of 23 concerts to that point and the brilliance of notorious -it blew me away - medazzaland can fuck off but astronaut - class quality every song for me apart from reach up for the sunrise bloody rocks the shizzle!!!!!!

go back and put on b side of notorious, seven and the ragged tiger and rio = utter fucking brilliance

  • BIG THING was a slow seller, probably because their audience core audience didn't like the musical direction of NOTORIOUS....however the B-side of this album is a true masterpiece! Listen to this in the dark...it will take you away to another place.

Sadly...LIBERTY was the mistake that closed the book on the 1986-1990 era of DD. I'll argue that NOTORIOUS and BIG THING are 2 of their best albums...however neither album has that "great" single.

  • I will agree that Big Thing was the last great album that did it for me. I do have every CD they came out cuz I am a hardcore Duraniac. I was disapointed with liberty and medazaland and pop trash. excuse me if I can't spell at the moment lol Long live Duran Duran aka the Beatles of my generation :D

  • Liberty is not that bad/ I like it!

  • I loved Liberty and Big Thing. I'm rediscovering the genius of Medazzaland. I haven't heard enough of Pop Trash to make a fair judgement of it.

  • For years I never listened to the unknown songs on Big Thing. They are terrific, some of the best stuff DD ever did. Can you imagine any other band on the planet making a song like this? So hypnotic and beautiful!

  • how can you say that - fuck me Antartica is brilliant!!! and 4 pther good tracks

  • The album Liberty, in general, was not that great and yes there are a few tracks that stand out. If you like antartica you will love Throb. It's the b-side to the violence of summer. Throb is an instrumental track to antartica.

  • LOOOOVE This song!

  • Love this album - particularly side two. Le bon and Rhodes wrote some damn fine songs.

  • Their best song from a long list classics

  • I AGREE TOTALLY

  • Muchas felicidades, excelente trabajo. sigo a duran duran desde su inicio.

    Hermosillo Sonora Mexico

  • I love this music. DD`s best album BIG THING...in my opinion it`s still a masterpiece.

  • Does anybody know the name of a duran tune I think its from the Wedding Album and its very nice and moody with piano and goes on for a bit???

  • Possibly "My Antartica" from the Liberty album.

  • yup thats it My Antartica but hey there is a instrumental version of it and I love that one over the one on the CD. :)

  • throb

  • Great song....great video...duran duran are the best

  • Very Nice clip this one.Reminds me of the Arcadia stuff.

  • palomino is my last name.

  • I love this song:) Thank you for creating this beautiful video for this beautiful song.

  • no, they are masters of music but their is a group from dusseldorf. germany called " KRAFTWERK " BUT THIS IS AN AWESOME RECORD " BIG THING "

  • Bar none, their best song. And a beautiful tribute video.

  • maybe the best Duran tune ever, simply unique MAX DURANFAN

  • its cos they are masters of music...

  • this is a great song duran duran is my fave band and i also marvel at how i can gind tons of songs from them that sound fantastic and that i truly like. and the songs dont all sound the same either

  • Favorite Duran song of the moment. Totally awesome. Simons voice is breathtaking.x

  • Good job, such a beautiful song and a beautiful video. I love Simon's voice.

  • I forgot to say, google "calzoncillos palominos" , go to Images and have a look if you want a graphic explanation ROFLMAO

  • :D

    This is truly lovely!!! <3

I am going to spend some time thinking so I can write a review befitting of the work you've done on this:)

    *hugs

    <3

  • This is such a beautiful song.

  • fucking brilliant video. Probably the best interpretation of one of their songs. good job!!

  • Probably my favorite song off this album, but overall this album has some absolutely dreadful songs - Big Thing and Drug being two of the worst. Fans seem to love Do You Believe in Shame but outside of what the song is actually about (one of their ex producers) the song is basically a I IV V progression and just plain boring :( And yes - I'm a fan!

  • "Do you believe in Shame" is about Andy Warhol. At least that's what Nick says. Maybe you know something Nick doesn't? Listen to it again "I can't believe my friend has gone." They wrote it after Andy died.

  • This is true. The song also refers to their friend Alex Sadkin who also tragically died around this time.(He was involved with Seven and the ragged tiger)

  • wonderfull song..and from a very fantastic album,,!

  • very good song

  • Masterpiece

  • they have to go down one of the best pop bands ever, but for all that 80s success i didnt really pay much attention......, until this album! some fantastic songs on it.

  • ALL of their work is outstanding. The "80s phenomenon,Thatcherite stuff" we keep hearing about is pure media hot air.I cringe when some twat who wasn't even born when they came on the scene starts talking about 80s excesses and yachts. They filmed a video on a yacht.Get over it.

  • who sent the comment on excesses and yachts then e, 'I' loved this record.

  • I was referring to the way certain corners of the media focuses on the glamorous life-styles,limos,champagne,women etc and not enough on the music! I am a huge fan of ALL Duran Duran's albums and live work.P.S-my comments were not a direct response to yours,I was just picking up on the 80s aspect.

  • No one cares, what pans out is this is a great song. No one cares about Thatcherite music or geopolitical meanderings of fire making....its a good song

  • The Big Thing album was over-looked by critics. Its one of the best albums ever made.Critics go and blow the dust off it and listen again!

  • Such a beautiful, moving, haunting song. Wonderful job with the video, just outstanding. Thanks!

  • My favorite Duran Duran song!!!!!!

  • Duran duran fantastici mitici anni 80 ciao

  • This song is so beautiful...Your video is very nice, i love it:)

  • im 36 tommoro this reminds me of bein back at my mums

  • it makes me cry....wonderful song

  • Ahhh, this is another fav of the lovely mysterious Duran tracks. I listened to Big Thing about 4 times on Saturday. It's such an amzing album. The feeling this song gives me is un describable. Another one that makes me want to cry, absolutely stunning beyond the extreme.

  • beautiful colours Wtf its 4am, no wonder Im cross eyed LO ;0P

  • Another great song by Duran Duran, along with Tiger Tiger and Land ,also from "Big thing".

  • Tiger Tiger is not from "big thing" but from seven and the ragge
