I've got a friend who was married, has children and never gave a thought to other men. When he was in his fourties he found himself attracted to men, and his attraction to women diminished. He chose to act on his attractions, but he didn't choose his attractions in the first place.

The fact that you put much more emphasis on anecdotal testimony ("SOME people told you so") than on overwhelming scientific evidence (MOST people and LEGITIMATE SCIENCE tell you so) to me seems to be an indicator of bias.
You want another first-hand testimony? I know I was gay a decade before my very first sex. I certainly didn't choose it. It took me hard work to accept that aspect of myself.
