I'm from Sweden. I pay circa 30% tax. But then again, I can easily afford to get sick. So I'm happy about it. I wouldn't trade our healthcare for the American version, no way. Not in a million years!

... a chunk of the taxes goes to pay for business trips for the fatcats, and weapons exports. So it's not all good.

And I have a bad feeling about our new right wing government that seems to want to americanise the system.

One way to tell America is in trouble is, they omit the attempted take-over during President Roosevelt. Most people don't know this.

SGAK: Just out of curiosity, what do you actually know about the U.S. health care system that you didn't learn from "Sicko" or from other biased sources? In Sweden and in other single-payer systems, there are long waits for some surgeries as well as for diagnostic procedures that are very basic and quick in the U.S. Neither system is perfect, but there are actually some strengths to the U.S. system. Plus, the truly poor in the U.S. do get government-funded medical care via Medicaid.
