@lilrp2 i don't think what you use matters, as long as it can absorb the flammable liquid like a wick would and the string is tight enough on the bottle so it doesn't move around you should get the same results

This is brilliant - I've been looking for a way to scavenge cheap things for the glass for a custom vacuum tube, if this will work for 2 cuts per bottle it will be great (the neck is a bit long to use a stem for one itself, but a cut about how is done on the video + halfway down the neck will save me a LOT of glass blowing work).

It's Acetone, he's using it because it burns itself and not what it's in (ie the string), so he set it on fire and revolved the lfame around the bottle, heating the line all the way around, so that when the bottle was suddenly cooled in water it broke on the line.
