Yes you can. It will be open on the weekends to the public. For a small fee you can access the observation area at the top by using the stairwell. There is also an elevator.
Can anyone tell me of any music written specifically for carillons, rather than arranged? It seems to me that because of the bleeding quality of its overtones, some truly unique and beautiful music could be composed. Very mystical and lovely!
very pretty. this is the same carillon that i used to play. if memory serves me correctly, it's about 216 steps from the bottom to the top, which makes for very dedicated performers! the hourly chimes are automated but the songs afterwards are always played by a live performer, so whenever you hear music up there, wonder who it is and be glad. there is also a practice keyboard for the carillon in naperville, which i have a video of in my page.
After viewing you playing the practice keyboard I really and sincerely believe that you should become one of the regular carilloneurs. Your experience shines right through. You certainly can handle it.
heh. i have no experience! i took a few lessons with the carillon keeper and played the big tower just once. you can't go up the tower unless another player is around to practice with you, and everyone else was already paired off. i lived up the road so i used to walk down and practice for fun, mostly, but i know i never got close to what i know the regular guys can do. :)

He, cool ! I didn't know there were some carillons outside the Netherlands :-D
They are here all over the place, but it's always very cool to hear one play. It always make you happy when you hear one.

All I could recognize was
- All Kinds Of Everything (Alles und noch viel mehr)
- Yesterday
- ???
- Three Coins In The Fountain (Drei Münzen im Brunnen)
In brackets: titles of the German versions, meaning almost the same!
Greetings from Germany!
