this is absolutely ridiculous. how hard is it to understand: if you want health insurance, purchase it. if you don't, or can't get approved for it: SAVE YOUR OWN MONEY TO PAY FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH. gee, but what if you don't have the money to pay for your own hospital bills? perhaps you could try surviving without multiple color television sets or automobiles?! genius? no, just not socialism.
Notice how all those GOP legislators keep saying right out loud how we have the best health care system in the world and they don't want Obama care to destroy it. Liars, liars pants on fire. Guess they think so because their health care is so great.
We need a change in healthcare so bad. It's just so fucked up" people go without care, insurance companies jack up prices just to make money off the sick" and the government allow's this madness to happen.... This country needs to fix it's system badly.
We're number 37 because we've made ourselves poor. If you think about how much excess is within our homes, tied down to DVD's, clothes, TV's, books, fancy cars, expensive shoes, etc. The list is endless. If you were to save some of your money, then you could bring down the cost of health care by paying at least $20,000 towards it. Anything you buy that is a luxury , is just that. You cannot conscionably believe you deserve those luxuries. Americans live in excess, everywhere.
I was in the hospital last june 24 hours =$42000.00 goodluck paying the bill if you get sick and dont have Ins.You cant get ins. if you have a pre-existing condition.
I hate our heathcare system. it's truely a piece of shit... the special interest companies don't care about the poor or the middle class, they only care about "PROFIT" scum bags.. We need a universal plan like France and Canada, or affordable healthcare.. My friend is a LEO and he's paying over 800 a month for him his wife and kid it's "PATHETIC" when you work for the governement and pay a fortune..
Health care reform passed thru the Obama; but make SURE to vote in 2012 and keep it strong and intact; otherwise the GOP will overturn it and were back to square one.....
And if more people started looking at the Human Development Index we might start to see a better understanding of some of the problems that plague America today.
Ha! coincidentally, I was discussing HCR with someone the other day. I know a lot of people wanted the single payer system. Personally, th&at is my preferred option, as long as it's set up right and regulated well, but I thought the French system would fit better with American cultural values.
I knew France was number 1 in health care and in other things. I wonder how those patriotic conservatives feel about it. They always are bitching about France. One thing for sure, France is better than the United States is in health care. It hurts haa. Ignore those right wing estremists and fix the health care system.
I have had this conversation with a staunch Tea Partier. They refuse to believe it. They claim that the data was intentionally manipulated to make the USA look bad. SOme people just cant face reality.
Excellent video! After watching it, I traveled to the golf course to ask our family physician and his golfing buddies - the health specialist, surgeon, hospital board member, pharmaceutical rep, medical supplies manufacturer, insurance company agent, AMA lobbyist and Republican Congressman - why we are Number 37. But it was a private country club and I wasn't allowed in.
Yawn - there is no right to any good or service that requires that someone else provide it to you, because there is no right to involuntary servitude. People need to learn the difference between negative and positive rights.
Wow! France is number 1. Not really surprised. I know a few people who've had treatment there and it was good. Terrible that such a great nation like the US does not have socialised healthcare. Shame on you.
It is ridiculous when even our oldest ally (Morocco) has better health care than we do. But in a way, it makes sense since they've been kind of like an older brother to us, to the point we made sure they were the first country we saved from the Nazis.
Doing my part to make this video go viral on Facebook...Watched the entire 7 hours of the Health Care "Summit," supremely disappointed with what I heard. Lived and worked in England for six years, excellent care with the Nat Health, have convinced people there that they have it good compared to peeps in the US. Keep it up Paul, spread the word.

I mean, obviously, in a country with the highest rate of infant mortality of all of the developed countries in the world, the statement is absurd. Ha! You got me!
You're so lame dj. Most European, Asian & some South American countries (the ones that are successful) provide the population with basic transportation, education, health care & housing. The country as a whole benefits with the rise in the standard of living, because the population as a whole is healthier, better educated, & has access to more sophisticated employment. The U.S. is a Third World Country in comparison.
Everyone should post this video to their Facebook page. I got so tired of listening to our Senators & Representatives at the Summit say "We have the best health care in the world." Such disrespect of the intelligence of their constituents.

Good for you - we, on the other hand are still trying to pry ourselves loose from the long boney fingers of the ugliest creature in the United States which has had us in it's clutches for too long. I dont mind being '37' in the world... go to France and get on the waiting list for an MRI... 12 months... nice. But they're #1.... right.
Classic response, "if you love their health care so much why dont you go live there"
Same response i heard in the 4th grade when someone pointed out the rest of the world does a lot of things better then us. But i suppose its more important to have boats and flatscreen TV's then worry about peoples health, that would be unselfish... who would ever want that?
Disciple42, just more typical right-wing, Fox-fed bullshit. According to the medical site, diagnosticimaging(dot)com, the wait in France was 35 days in 2007 (go there and search "france wait time"). I wonder what the wait time is for the 47 million Americans who have no health insurance. Oh, yeah, that would be until they die. Suggestion: if you can't take legit criticism of this country, why don't YOU go live somewhere else, so there's one less ignorant douche the rest of us have to deal with.
@Disciple42 Having been to France myself I understand that patient care occurs much quicker than in the states. The health care rating system was not a measure of costs. It was a measure of quality, which is a department America is lacking in. We have longer waits for worst care.
You should remember that a true patriot is a lover of ones country that rebukes it and does not excuse its sins. If another place has something better then as a patriot you try to install that in your homeland.
R' u sure, man? I lived in France and I didn't see anyone waiting for medical services. And higher taxes, sure they got it, but most of it goes back to folks. It's not just health care that's free over there...other stuff, like education is free too (with option of paid one). French can go to Sorbonne for free. Can you go to Columbia or Harvard for free, man?
OMFG...I love you......you are so right...and I love the ending......"what? France!!!!"....you just got regonized by milions of people.....and you rock Dude.
"The US is the world's richest nation and the only industrialised democracy that does not provide healthcare coverage to all its citizens." - BBC News, 26 February 2010
I just bought this at itunes. I could have jus downloaded it with a downloader but Paul should get every penny for this song. Preach on, brother Paul... great song!
nObamaCare=Bait and Switch Comrades!! nObama 2012.....Change that Will Happen......check out the polls and the discord with nObama, then put down the koolaid and step away from the bong.
awesome, there was a time in this country when we strived to be number one at everything, now we seem to have morphed into a nation of people who don't believe in science, and God forbid you try to reason with anyone on the right about equal access to health care being a right or something we should strive for, omg..
Because they took our money and spent it on unnecessary wars with countries that were not a threat to us, subsidies to oil companies, tax cuts for the wealthy, and big bank bailouts leaving us at the mercy of the merciless insurance companies. So now that I've answered your question, here's one for you - why do you think we should pay for your paranoia? There should not be a dime spent on a "War on Terror". All that money should be spent on law enforcement to prevent terrorist CRIMES.
Obama ought to open tomorrow's summit with your video. He won't of course because the plan they're pushing won't move us up very much higher in the ranks. Thanks for spreading the message!
Set this to friend in France. Again by reading the other comments, conservatives have NO sense of humour. But then again our health care system is no laughing matter.
You are the man!!! You have the support from The people in sunrise,fl and hope the rest of the country stands behind you. As a country we need to come together and fight against the health care industry. If there is anything I can do please ask. We have an online radio station if you can do a q&a please let us know. Keep it up!!!!
your GREAT!THIS SONG IS GREAT.people listen beck ,palin and their ilk are lying to you. they are anti-american right-wing republican schills.only the super rich benefit from their propaganda.people like them will kill grandma and your social security!!
haha....I love it!! The Prez has had a hard time educating the public, and let's face it, it's easier to scare peeps, but I think the Prez should just play this vid, then walk away...lol
Paying $600 a month in a state insurance pool, the only insurance I can get because of diabetes. Been outta work for over a year, but screw me, cough up the money or your s**t out of luck. AMEN BROTHER. You nailed it.
This song is a modern day 'Blowin in the Wind' or 'This Land is Your Land'. It's brilliant. (although it may have to be rewritten when we become #47 or #57)
yah, that's what they tell ya here...don't want to let go rotten system. canadians have cool choice to choose between free and paid health care, and paid does not automatically translate to "better service"...you wanna meet my dickhead businessman doctor? :)
The World Health Organization also ranks the health care system in the USA at number 37, below Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Dominica.
Isn't the time long overdue that America wakes up to the fact that it doesn't provide its citizens with a health care system that is even close to those of other developed industrial western nations?
One simply has to Google the phrase "Life expectancy" to see that the USA doesn't even feature within the top 30 list of nations (it's actually number 38, below Greece, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Chile and Cuba). This is truly appalling given the GDP of the USA, and every American should be ashamed of that fact.
These figures aren't biased either, as they come from the USA's own "CIA World Factbook 2009", and the 2006 United Nations World Population Prospects report.
Taiwan and Singapore has best medical care system in the world, 99% coverage, high quality, and they are government run. Learn from the Smart Chinese!!!
Do some research other than Canada and Brits. It's time to learn from the East. China a so Called communist country is now USA's Banker. LOL!
Brit ,67, Tax payer, worked from 15,retired 2 years.Only 2 major health problems, hearing loss from 30,heart attack 3 years ago .Ambulance to A and E Hospitalised after checks had operation, 2 weeks in Hospital, aftercare given and medication supplied ,5 items taken daily + one spray if needed cost billed to me ZERO .Hearing loss bone anchor aid now fitted after operation maintenance of aid including batteries bill to me Zero.Sorry US insurance companies I'll stick with NHS
In the US you would be bankrupt and evicted from your home by now. That's because we are strong'n'tough and we don't have time or pity for old and sick people like you!
We need free acess to medicine save $ by cutting middle man doctors from always picking and choosing how and we get meds.ave adviser and a way for all of all ages to get medicine without paying a doctor too
My sister in law had full insurance, but her share would have been One Hundred Grand for back surgery. So she went to Germany, and 30K later, completely healed.
Everyone should have what those socialist hating republicans have in Congress - on call healthcare anytime they want. That's right - no waiting, everyone is served whether its a heartattack or a hang nail. I think they are the Socialists. How about they get no better care than the poorest of us.
Looks like congress was bought by the insurance companies. We've been sold out again! Howard Dean is even urging a vote of no in congress. We need to get every incumbent politician out of Washington.

Just to be clear, we were 37th in 2000,
10 years ago, the last time the WHO ranked health care systems.
We ranked so low because we cost too much and 1/4 of Americans could even get health treatment.
Today the system only cost more and now 1/3 of American cant get quality health care treatment. So we probably rank alot lower.

Can you go to Columbia or Harvard for free, man?

awesome, there was a time in this country when we strived to be number one at everything, now we seem to have morphed into a nation of people who don't believe in science, and God forbid you try to reason with anyone on the right about equal access to health care being a right or something we should strive for, omg..

All that money should be spent on law enforcement to prevent terrorist CRIMES.

yah, that's what they tell ya here...don't want to let go rotten system. canadians have cool choice to choose between free and paid health care, and paid does not automatically translate to "better service"...you wanna meet my dickhead businessman doctor?

HumanistWikitopian 1 year ago
One simply has to Google the phrase "Life expectancy" to see that the USA doesn't even feature within the top 30 list of nations (it's actually number 38, below Greece, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Chile and Cuba). This is truly appalling given the GDP of the USA, and every American should be ashamed of that fact.
These figures aren't biased either, as they come from the USA's own "CIA World Factbook 2009", and the 2006 United Nations World Population Prospects report.

Everyone should have what those socialist hating republicans have in Congress - on call healthcare anytime they want. That's right - no waiting, everyone is served whether its a heartattack or a hang nail. I think they are the Socialists. How about they get no better care than the poorest of us.
dfillingham 2 years ago
Looks like congress was bought by the insurance companies. We've been sold out again! Howard Dean is even urging a vote of no in congress. We need to get every incumbent politician out of Washington.
