@GellyB yeah, we just needed a country other than America or Canada that we could use as a contrast. Our teacher told us that most European countries used one similar to that of Japan, but after doing some research we learned that she was wrong, but we had already written out thesis and had it approved. She also told us that all of Canada had the same system as Quebec, which we later learned was false which is the reason you see Quebec's flag instead of the Canadian flag.
