  • Grape drank

  • thats exactly what i thought hahaha

  • notice how its grape juice? subtle.

  • I'm afraid I dont get it, somone fill me in?

  • What a multicultural group of friends! A black girl, an asian girl, a blonde white girl, and an hispanic boy. Did you know that for this very reason Sesame Street was banned in Mississippi for most of the early 70s?

  • Really? On account of that? How come?

  • The mixing of races was taboo in most of the deep south until fairly recently.

  • Love the perfect ethnic mix at the end.

  • hahaha me too. :d

  • for real, luv it

  • i know eh, haha

  • OMG I forgot about this one! Thanks!

  • that segment always made me thirsty.

  • what a crappy recipe. diluting juice three times?

  • It's from concentrate. :|

  • i know you made this comment 4 months ago but I'm replying anyway; they're not diluting the juice. the juice is from concentrate so really what they are doing is diluting sludge.

  • Creepy ladies!

  • tiny freezer lol ^_^

  • Awesome, I loved this video as a kid. I think it's kinda funny how the popicle sticks were leaning on the sides of the cups when they went into the freezer, and were prefectly straight when they came out.

  • That always bothered me as a child!

  • Glad to know I wasn't the only neurotic little kid! :^)

  • wow, what a blast from the past!!!

  • JUICE?!?! What the hell is Juice? I want grape DRANK!!!

  • omg i LOVED this one - i have wondered all my (ADULT) life about it LOL

  • This is how I learned to make juice before I could read the container :)

  • This always made me thirsty when I was little.

  • Ohh you wait 4 hours! how cute!

  • Mama let's make a snack

    Child heres what we need

    ^^interesting convo.....^^

  • ok does this recipe work??

  • yea

  • lol those kids at the ending looked horny

  • I never understood how the straws would go in the freezer on their sides and then come out straight up and down.

  • lol its a cartoon anything can happen

  • Tender moments like these with little children having fun. It makes one feel good that they have such a great love of life and of each other and it's the simple things in life that make them worth it, even homemade popsicles. Also love the diversity of the children, one being black, another Asian, another white, and the fourth possible Asian, too. Here's to world harmony, with shows like Sesame Street and the precious resource that is our children. :)

  • HEY HEY HEY IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY

  • omg thats how u make pops wow ... i never knew that

  • man, i saw this cartoon once when i was a kid and obsessed over it for years, hoping i'd see it again and i never did. sometimes you really gotta appreciate the internet and youtube.

  • yes lawdy! I remembered my entire childhood as I watched this clip and realized all the fun I had..

I now realized how YouTube is a blessing and how much the internet made me relive it, even for a short while.

  • NOOO

i didnt know we needed a freezer

    :(

    dangggg

  • HAHA x]]]

    weirdo :]

  • oh wow i know how to make juice popsicles now! YAY

  • omg i remember seening this when i was little but where

    lol on tv but idk

  • how old is this !!!!!!! lol

  • them kids are ugly

  • I totally made these.. However it took too long to freeze and I ate it as slush.

  • ghetto icepops FTW!!

  • Those are some ugly ass kids.

  • Oh yeah? Then your mama is ugly too!

  • i effed up our kitchen trying to do this after i saw it. perfect case of a kids imitating what they see on tv.

  • I totally agree! I wanted these kool-aid style and was disappointed at the tupperware version we got! This way seemed more fun.

  • This totally inspired me as a kid.

  • Lol, wouldn't the straw bend under the pressure of the ice pop? They should've used wooden sticks instead.

  • Ya not only that but they were crooked then after they froze the straws were magically straight.

  • Ghetto Ice pops are awesome

  • im scared

  • "Ghetto",..LMAO!

  • I said this back in the 70's and I will say it again now 30 years later..those kids are scary looking!

  • i think the last one may have mild downs :|

  • no one was stirring the juice, it stirred itself.

  • Serious craving for ghetto pops...

  • i make these for my son in the summer time

  • whats the song thats playing before the juice pops come on? i reckognize the blue guy...

  • ah..juice pops... I used to have so much fun making those when I was a kid..thing is, we used toothpicks and ice cube trays instead..

  • Those are some scary looking kids.

  • This is a classic clip I remember growing up. Sesame street has always been diverse and aimed at more urban kids. That's why the faces are unique.

  • I actually wanted to do this after I saw it. So My mother and I took Tupperware popsicle molds and froze Juicy Juice in them. Ahh, the grapey-appley-cherry memories!!

  • wuzzup with those faces?

    daaaaamn.

  • pgl :)

  • Oh my goodness! I remember this from twenty something years ago. Thank you so much for posting!

  • huh? what's wid da water???

  • I actually remember cracking up about this with my friend when we were kids, must have been about 9 I reckon. We walked around the whole day going "Juice, a pitcher, cups and straws" and speculating on what a pitcher was (we call it a jug in the UK).

  • Love the ghetto "Chile, here's what we need".

  • lol i know. i loved that part too.

  • I wish I had telekinetic powers to make popsicles with.

  • nice diversity for the kids

  • who would pot in grape juice popsicles? let me spell it out for you...electric kool-aid acid test. 'nough said.

  • i rememeber THIS one!!

  • frozen xtasy yippee!

  • Yeah! "ghetto Pops"! But you gotta admit that this showed a frozen concentrate used, not Kool aid, or for the very pressed for 8 cents, Flavor aid for four cents.

I love how this and other "kiddie educational" programs in the 70's strongly killed off ethnic prejudices because it wasn't common to have all races on one show as main focal point people, but it's sad that now and days the folks at sesame street decided to sanitize these old gems entirely. A mistake.

  • Wow, this brings back memories

  • oh my god :)

  • I want to make some ghetto pops too!

  • woah! that blue muppet in the first few seconds that got cut off in the start looks like jaime hyneman from mythbusters. pretty kewl!

  • omfg!lol he does!I wonder if there is a adam,tory,kari and grant one! :P

  • were not retarded PBS

  • yep remember this... Yes I miss the "old" ones too. :(

  • dude it calledfuckinmg suger man

  • My how those kids giggle. LOL, popsicle weed?! :-P

  • lol

  • There must have been something in those popcicles that made those kids begin to laugh.

  • omfg,that was creepy!what is it pot?

  • ::sniffle:: Thanks. I loved this one.

  • I think that one reviewer was right, sesame street is a hollow shell of what it once was.Elmo has taken over nothing's left but the memories on youtube.

  • I remember both this and the "Time for Timer" PSA mentioned. They're both good! By the way, what song was that at the start of the video with Ferlinghetti Donizetti in it?

  • It was the one with Grover break-dancing.

  • They should post that song on YouTube.

  • I hardly think flimsy straws would be strong enough to support a big block of frozen juice. And I noticed a continuity error, too - the straws were just leaning against the sides of the cups when in the freezer, yet in the dead center when the kids had them. The "Time for Timer" PSA featuring orange juice, toothpicks, plastic wrap, and an ice tray is head and shoulders above this amateur production. Yet, I still give it 5 stars because I am happy to see it again. =)

  • I blame all my crooked homemade popsicles on Sesame Street!

  • Thank you, thank you! This is awesome.

  • i just wana let you know that you posted this comment 3 years ago.... :)
