  • Thank you for the information!!!

  • @crystaly01 thank you for taking the time to comment...my best jamie

  • go chinchillas

  • @1999driftwood I agree!

  • Does no draft mean a ceiling fan can't be on?

  • @BESTPAINTBALLA they cant be in a draft like from a window or a window fan

  • james i have some questions my brother and i baught chinchillas from a guy that couldnt take care of them one is 3yrs old and one 2 and i ahve been very frustarated around mine and when ever i let him out to run around the room he makes me run around trying to catch him for a half hour he dosnt seam to trust me yet and it hase been about 5 months pleas help me with my ordeal i hope to hear from u soon u can email me at jp101183@aol.com thank you!!!!

  • @pallmark1997 I get thousands of letters and you probably know I am a professional music composer ( for TV ) and a music producer. Im sorry I cant email you

I have a forum (you can find me there and over 700 other experts)

its free ...you have to be 13 or older luckysplace(dot)net

It can take years for them to trust them

  • @pallmark1997 you can start with this

    NEVER CHASE A CHINCHILLA

    NEVER GRAB A CHINCHILLA

    NEVER YELL AT A CHINCHILLA

    they have terrific memories

They are prey animals...( animals that are hunted by others)

It is their instinct to run

It took 6 years for Tiki to trust me

and still he would run away just like a normal chinchilla

  • USA!!!

  • Your videos have always helped me :) i remember a year ago watching this without a chinchilla, now a year later i have my little guy next to me, u have helped me alot and i still loveee watching your videos! Thanks again!!! -Horsewolflover & Vinny

  • I love this video! This video has many comments about chinchilla. Where do you get a chinchilla. You should add more chinchilla videos.

  • @Chinchilla040431 thanks ...I have 107 videos on here .,.many with chinchillas

and there are 5 of these care videos

thanks for taking time to watch and comment...my best jamie

  • I have a plastic hide is that ok

  • @Rockstarcasey09 please replace that with wood

I just got a letter today from two people whos chinchilla died from plastic ingestion

To be honest if he is not chewing .. (check it carefully) there is nothing to worry about

but please monitor. Plastic is TOXIC to chinchillas

  • Chin-Proof. These things are adorable.

  • @MrJynxFTW they sure are ...and yes yes yes ..CHINPROOF or lose your stuff!

  • @jglaser333

I wish I could get one of these, but I spend too much time with my chameleon as it is :).

  • @MrJynxFTW I want to compliment you..

so many chinchillas end up lonely cause people dont think through this stuff as you have. Give that chameleon a hug for me!!

  • I am about to get my first chinchilla. It's a good thing I saw this video or I wouldn't know what to do. I decided to get one since I am socially awkward and needed a companion besides my monster dog. I know to keep my door shut when I leave the house. I might message you with care questions.

  • @ravens825 appreciate that there are 5 of these so please watch and see if you can pick up some more. If you would like me to respond to questions please message me on my forum Lucky's Place luckysplace(dot)net (its free to join) thank you..good luck

  • my chinchilla sit's on my shoulder. i love him soooooooooooo much

  • @thatsmetimes3 yep..mine too! I used to walk around with him up there

but I got so many letters from people whos chinnies fell and hurt themselves

I only let mine on my shoulder if I am sitting!!

  • By chew toy do you mean like toys or sticks

  • @twixyzable chew sticks

  • I want to get a chinchilla

  • @twixyzable they're a lot of responsibility and for a long time ...but worth it

  • ooh and how do you get them not to chew on the wheel?

  • @XXFancyPantsJrXX you dont use plastic wheels ever, you can not STOP them from chewing that. Please invest in a CHINSPIN ...( at quality cage)

  • My chinchilla watches tv with me

  • @eeveelutionspikachu mine too...glad to hear that!

  • How many Rose hips should I feed my chinchilla, many people say 1-2 a day and many say 1-2 a week which one is it?

  • @TMTVHD great question...moderation... I see nothing wrong with 1-2 a day

There are purists all over the internet chinchilla world...just be careful

Stay away please from bad stuff, nuts, seeds, raisins etc

Im so glad you do your research the chinnies deserve our best

  • @jglaser333 yes I actuialy decided to purchase one chinchilla to see if their the pet for me and I love him. His names cheeky and if I have him out he's in my hood or on my shoulder he loves my be blowin on with a blow dryer and loves to be fed cheerios thank you for responding-

    Alison Webb.

  • @Lamblove1 thats wonderful Alison I am happy for you and cheeky. I do want to suggest to people out there reading this...please do not purchase a chinchilla to see if they are the right animal/pet for you. You may not be as fortunate as Alison.,..then what happens to the chinnie who needs , love, home, a chance, and a family. Chinchillas are NOT toys and they are not like I Phones...you buy them and exchange them. Chinchillas ( and all pets) are living breathing beings with a soul..

  • will you make morre videos please:)

  • @TheBibby101 thank you for asking...

what would you like to see?

  • Also, sorry for the second question, do they get/do they need to be treated for fleas?

  • @polomarey they dont get fleas...

the temp should be between 65 and 75 ..but the humidity is equally as important

add the temperature and the humidity ..chinchillas will be safe if the total is not more than 140 ...preferably lower. Air conditioning and low humidity is a must..open windows and fans do NOT remove humidity

  • @jglaser333 Thank you for the reply! I guess they are not for me!

  • @polomarey one of the reasons I have my free forum LUCKYS PLACE luckysplace(dot)net and did these videos is so I could protect and teach about these amazing animals. I thank you so much for being smart about this decision

So many many chinchillas go to homes and when the people find out about their needs they are given up. They arent RIGHT for many people. Thanks again and happy holidays My best jamie

  • @jglaser333 I'm really considering on getting a Chinchilla, But I really want it to be comfortable in my home. Considering I live in hawaii, The weather can be a bit on the hot side. I do have a air condition in my room. But, do I have to keep it on all day? Will a fan help?

  • @Bboylimited hi there...no a fan wont help for several reasons

air conditioning is the only way for their health. a FAN doesnt lower the humidity and humidity is a factor in the overall temp. You see they need about 65-75F or so

and the humidity can not be higher than ...60 or so percent... the total of TEMP and humidity should not exceed 135-140. Yes you will most likely run air quite a bit. Also FANS can create drafts ,.,..and a chinchilla can not be in drafts Good luck

  • @jglaser333 Thank you, I appreciate the quick replay ! And for the humidity. Do you think a dehumidifier will help lower the humidity in my room ?

  • @Bboylimited its supposed to but still air conditioning is your best bet

its expensive to have chinchillas ...done the right way

  • What temperature should the room they live in be kept at? A friend wants to give me two Chins, but he keeps his house very cold by my standards. I live in South Florida and I keep my windows open 8 months of the year. Is it true they need it to be very cold or they get heat stroke?

  • Hey, I have a huge cage with two degus in there. The cage feels really empty and I was going to get a chinchilla in with those to guys and I was wondering would they get a lot? I heard that it's ok for them to live together.

  • @IamGodzillaRawr Please do not mix animals

Degus are NOT chinchillas, they dont come from the same place , they dont act the same, PLEASE DO NOT MIX PETS.. save for another cage

  • hi

  • suscribe

  • hey is it a good idea to give my chinchilla like sticks for it to chew on something

  • @finallyamazing23 go to Luckylogs(dot)com thats the kind of thing you should be giving. Only certain kind of wood is ok and its imperative to give your chinchilla things to chew on . Their teeth constantly grow.

  • I am considering getting a chinchilla, I currently own 2 rabbits (one male and one female-both are fixed as I work at a vet clinic), and was wondering when considering a chin for a pet is it better to get male or female? As with rabbits, females are more aggressive and territorial, and was wondering if this is the same with chins?

  • @xxbunbunloverxx with chinchillas it is really up to the animal's personality. Female chinchillas are also more territorial . I have 2 males and 1 female (separated completely of course...I discourage and wont breed) My female chinchilla wants more one on one time, and is more "emotional" the males ...are like juvenile delinquents ... I love them LOL my best Jamie please do not house the chinchilla with the rabbit and Rabbits carry airbone diseases that can kill chinnies

  • I wanna get a chinchilla I've been caring for one on our school farm for a year and I'm in FFA I want to breed for a project:)

  • @Lamblove1 I wish you luck

as you know I am against nonprofessional breeding of chinchillas

    thanks

there are 10's of thousands that need homes..

breeding them for a project? they are living social creatures that can live 20 years or more. You ready to do this "project" for 20 and more years?

  • I have a chinchilla and I give her lots of things to chew on but sometimes idk why she chews on the plastic tubes :(

  • @KAaosD3vi what plastic tubes are you talking about..

There should be NO PLASTIC in the cage or accessible. Plastic can be toxic, and at very least can impact the digestive system etc. Please remove all plastic ...thank you!

Chinchillas will chew just about anything ... so its your job to make sure "anything" is safe for them...my best Jamie

  • got my little guy last year for christmas, hes so awesome.

  • @StuntDoubleTheatre they are really special...and amazing beings that have lots to teach us. I am completely blown away by chinchillas...

    Merry Christmas!

  • @jglaser333 hes out running around in his dust somewhere... i hear him pitter pattering along the floor

  • @StuntDoubleTheatre my 3 are doing the same thing...

I wish my life were that simple LOL

  • what tempature should a chinchilla be in? i might get one for christmas! plz respond!!

  • @imanotbeliebereva ideal temp is from 65 -75 F but you need to factor in humidity as well ..it should never be more than 140 total ..so if it were for example 70 degrees F and 80 percent humidity its considered dangerous. Fans are not good ,...you must have air conditioning for chinnies if you are in a warm climate. Merry Christmas

  • Thank you for posting these videos, they are extremely helpful. My husband got me one for Christmas this year after much research by the both of us, but you take the information to a whole new level. We are using what we learn to be good chinchilla parents to Ollie :)

  • @nightcat6562 Thank YOU!! Please consider joining my free pet and chinchilla forum Luckys Place luckysplace(dot)net my best Jamie

  • Ty for the addvise

  • dear jamie,

you are one of my rolemodels. you are very inspriring. mwe had two chinchillas and both died. one was not even 3 and one died of an UNKNOWN cause. if u had any idea of anything, please respond. thanks:)

  • @Thehoagie99 thank you. I am not a doctor but a music producer/musician etc. Even if I were a doctor I couldnt diagnose your pets over the internet. Im sorry to hear about your loss. I just lost my 5 year old Furnando ... after a necropsy we found he had a stomach rupture and blood around his liver (that wasnt supposed to be there) Since chinchillas are prey animals they normally do not show illness till its too late. Once again I am very sorry you lost your chinnies Jamie

  • That's good to hear! I hope everyone is safe too!

  • I'm sooo sorry for your loss of furnando...he will be hapy in heaven with the angels. I hope understand that I have empathy for you.... if u were planning on getting another chin I hope it is as healthy as can be!

    From

    Alex

  • @PolakSinger Thank you Alex... I have Furdie (Furdinand) who was Furnandos cage mate, and Baron , who is like 13 years old or more and I adopted a young female chinchilla called Princess a few months ago. Its a crazy house with chinchillas in 2 rooms..and 3 giant cages. No plans to have more right now.

  • @jglaser333 im planning on getting a new 3 month old chinchilla and i dont know what to name it. It will be white and since you have been such a help to me so i want u to name it.

    Thank you

    Alex

  • @PolakSinger thats wonderful news! Why dont you ask on Luckys Place (my forum)

people will give u ideas. I, honored by your comment

but I like to get to know the pet before I suggest or name them. Id be glad to help you once you have your new family member. Feel free to write me at luckyrecording at aol(dot)com

  • I wanna rescue a chinchilla. Does anyone know a rescue place I chicago? Plz tell me! Thanks

  • @PolakSinger call RED DOOR animal rescue..they can direct you in Chicago

  • very helpful. thanx!

  • @flamingninja550 thank you for watching!

  • @flamingninja550 you're very welcome

  • Damn, they don't like to be cuddled.......I just got a little sad.

  • @oddersisadog we all know that feeling... they can take it just for a little while , some really hate it

but most love scritches... (petting in circles..little strokes)

  • This is a very good video for people who are new to the chinnie world....good job

  • @ChinnieShop thanks ...I really want the best for these wonderful animals. I appreciate your comment!!

  • can you get one in europe I rly want one they r so adorable :O

  • @ver4eto98 where in Europe are you? They are everywhere , especially the UK. The issue is that in some places proper vet care isnt available and supplies for a happy life can be slim as well. Thanks to the internet you can pretty much get anything now.

  • Hey, I just got a chinchilla for my three kids. He's 2 years old, bought from someone who didn't want it anymore and clearly didn't give it much time. He is settling in already with more toys and decent food/cage furniture. One thing that concerns me is him chewing things when he is out. Have yours ever tried to nibble your guitar? Mine can nibble what he wants, but the guitars are off limits, ha ha. Do you think he might take a fancy to them or are they safe enough?

  • @1978BenF If he's already showing a penchant for chewing it, put it away. Watch wires, cords, anything that could harm an infant and several things that seem safe like cedar wood and treated woods. They are determined and just because you say no, does not mean they will listen. In fact they probably never will. Your guitar is really not safe, he'll nibble on the wood and then he'll start going for the strings. My brothers chin DESTROYED his gibson hummingbird.

  • @1978BenF ok ..first Im going to ask YOU to be the chinchillas guardian, Chinchillas are NOT a good pet for kids. They arent animals that take kindly to loud noise, rough housing, they cant be trained or do tricks for the most part, they poop all the time, and need their cage cleaned, and exotic vets. Please take the main responsibility..they are not toys. Secondly a chinchilla will chew ANYTHING keep it away from anything you do not want chewed. NO means nothing to a chinchilla Tnx

  • Hey J! For training, what should I use for treats....... And how many...... Let me know and KEEP MAKING VIDEOS!!!!!!!!!

  • @greygreydomoluva thank u. Treats should be in moderation and healthy. Use unsweetened cheerios, gogi berries, shredded wheat, you can also make homemade oat cookies (like in my vids) . Please give tiny amounts. They can sorta be trained but it takes months every day , for 30 minutes or more a day. Most of us just let them be who they are.

  • @greygreydomoluva NEVER put a chinchilla in a tank please. Tanks do not allow for proper ventilation, you can not put shelves in a tank and way more. Pet stores are there to sell their animals and with all due respect they dont know their Ass for their elbow regarding animal care,...especially chinchillas. Look at the Ferret Nation 182, or Chinchilla mansion..those are the cages you need....and still you have to make shelves.

  • J, I'm thinking about getting a chinchilla. Should I buy a cage or a large tank so poop doesn't fly everywhere. When I go to the petstore they are in tanks.... Let me know...... btw I LOVE TIKI<333333

  • J, you know what I find out about folks who want chinchillas, because they are so soft and fluffy, they think these are the pets for cuddling. They get disappointed quickly when they find out these are not the pets they thought they were. Although my chinchillas tolerate petting, they would rather be running free and playing. I personally think any potential chinchilla owner need to thoroughly do their research before getting one. Btw, the Chinchilla Mansion is awesome. I own 2 of them.

  • I really wish. I took better care for my kiwi and took more pictures... he ended up dieing from a stommach disease. Fyi when they r sick theyh will not show u they are until they r VERY sick. Once they are acting sick, they are very sick. I miss my kiwi. I'm sorry my chin...* kiss*

  • @PolakSinger Oh so sorry, do u plan to get another chinchilla?

  • @PolakSinger I am so sorry to hear this. Even with expert care ...things happen

My Furnando just passed away from a stomach rupture. He showed no signs till the day he died and it was too late to save him, though the specialists sure tried.

  • So chinchilla dont like PeoplE to Cuddle them .....sigh Any ways So Chinchilla hAVE to Dust bath everyday but what if they get extreamly dirty ....they still have to Just use dust bath .......And not water

  • @LitedPixel NEVER water

de4pending on your chinchilla, the humidity etc ..a dust bath is imperative

some people do 2-3 times a week

I do every day , but I live in a dry climate (Utah). Dust baths keep the chinnie happy,. de stressed, clean and healthy

  • wow cool thanx !!! for the info im new owner to a chinchilla femalewe named her lizy she is great my kids luv her great video again thanx for the info :)

  • @JOsEGoMeZ211 my pleasure !!

  • @jglaser333 love your video explained everthing i wanted to know thank you, i was considering getting a chiny but I know there very sensitive to loud noises and I heard that they can drop their fur completely when they are frightened from such things, so what would you do in situations such as bomfire night, when loud fireworks are going off?

  • @000ThatsLife000 I keep the windows closed, the air conditioner on for air. Yes they are sensitive to loud sounds, they are prey animals and on top of that their hearing goes to 30,000 khz ...humans only hear to 20,000 and most of us only hear to 16,000 khz... Try not to expose your chinchilla or any animal to loud sharp bursts of sounds

  • @jglaser333 thank you I'l keep that in mind

  • @000ThatsLife000 you're welcome

  • @000ThatsLife000 jglaser is correct :) I keep my windows closed anyway because I don't want drafts on them. My chinchillas are mostly calm with regular household noise, music playing, tv on in the background, etc. When it's too quiet it's spooks them out. When I suddenly walk into their room when the rest of the house is quiet, they take off and run under the wheel until they sense it's me then they come out to greet me :) I also have to watch any sudden jerky movements, this spooks them too

  • @TINYmoviemagic below 60 F

  • @TINYmoviemagic chinchillas are really sensitive to sun, and heat ,,its gotta be perfect between 65-75F or so

no direct sunlight... also they are prey animals ..just about anything will kill them..the short answer is NO ..do not bring them outside. No airline allows chinchillas as carry on, they do not do well in cargo, the temp and so on is not right...the short answer...NO do not , can not ,bring on airplanes without it being risky to its health

  • i got my chinchilla a few days ago and i hear many people say they arnt the type to snuggle but al mine dose it lay on me and cuddle my arm is there something wrong with him

  • @dchowderr thats wonderful...you guys are bonded already

is he mounting your arm or just getting on it?

from your comment I would say you are a very lucky chinnie guardian

  • I got a chinchilla about two days ago!!!! His name is bon bon. He doesn't like to come up to me unless I have food :/ help!!! What do I do? How can I get him to trust me?

  • @bubblygirllove101 congrats

Chinchillas are prey animals ..it can take months , even years for them to trust u

and they wont ever trust you completely in the way you have written. Speak softly, use baby talk,, turn on the TV for it, dont yell, or grab and much more. Having a chinchilla is NOT like owning and loving other animals/...

  • I am going to get a baby black velvet

  • I rescued my chinchilla! He's like my son!

  • Thank you for posting this. It's very helpful. =) I have one question. What do you think about Sun Seed Sunaturals Natural Chinchilla Food? Is it good?

  • @narusaku4eva19 Oh ik! lol I used this since i first got my Chinnie :) She liked it but she favored the treats in it rather than eating the pellets. So i switched to Oxbow which only has pellets and she loves it. I recommend Oxbow. Not that Sun Seed Sunaturals Natural Chinchilla Food isnt a good brand it just has to many treats in it.

  • @TheKirby629 Ha ha. OK, thank you. =)

  • @narusaku4eva19 thanks...I dont use anything but Oxbow , but recommend Mazuri, Bephar, Science select etc

though Sun seed makes a good mouse food..

I think you can do better than their food ...much better

remember no seeds,,,no nuts, no fruit, or veggies ..unless its for rehab

  • @jglaser333 OK. Thank you. =D

  • Thank you for posting this :) I'm going to adopt a friend's chinchilla pretty soon, so it's good to have a bit of knowledge about to take care of him ahead of time.

  • @handmiadenofgod thank YOU!! There are 5 parts to this video series , please see them all

Owning a chinchilla is a long, expensive, and amazing experience. Please MAKE SURE you are ready for all it takes. Thanks ,.,.jamie

  • thank you thank you. I really want a pet & this would be a good fit for me since i cant have a dog. I appreciated your advice!! Please do more care videos please xoxox

  • @annettepuleo thanks very much,. There are 5 parts to this video series ..please watch

and also consider joining my free forum LUCKYS PLACE luckysplace(dot)net

  • I just got my chin, her name is Neffe, I play and spend time with her everyday, she gives me kisses and jumps on my hand already. I want to teach her more tricks, like not running directly to the closet when I take her out and staying in a certain area. Do I do that by withholding food for a bit and then slowly introducing it again? Is that the only way?

  • @TheSpanky8199 You know ...sometimes I want to flip out..I get 1000's of mails on youtube

where the (())(*&*& did you hear to withhold fodd??? THAT IS ABUSE ...THAT IS CRUEL,

whoever told you that is just awful . CHINCHILLAS do NOT do tricks, they are not circus animals

they are amazing creatures and you should be extremely happy that your chinchilla trusts you. Very good start

Let me repeat this LOUD AND CLEAR...Chinchillas can not be trained like dogs,...they dont know what NO IS

  • @jglaser333 i wasent suggesting starving her of course... i was suggesting giving her time to get a bit hungry so she would be interested in the food. but yer right she's not a dog.

  • @TheSpanky8199 You said: "i wasent suggesting starving her of course... i was suggesting giving her time to get a bit hungry so she would be interested in the food. but yer right she's not a dog."

Giving her time to get 'a bit hungry' can KILL HER! They need food going through their body 24/7 They have very sensetive digestive systems and a little abuse like that can cause huge damage. You want her to do tricks? No you're the one that does the tricks for her. I suggest you close your closet.

  • i want a chinchilla and i know how to take care of one and i want to prove my parents i can, but there isn't a store that lets you rent them fro a few weeks so i might not get one

  • @megatruble22 RENT THEM??????????????????? WHAT???

    you dont rent LIVING CREATURES

  • @megatruble22 Seriously?!??! RENT THEM OUT?? Chinchinllas have a beating heart and can love and care for you they're not machines where you can just Rent Them out >.> They need a lot of time to earn your love and trust. How would you feel if people rented you out to random strangers and get treated poorly??? Without the right food, shelter and care?? Even if they did rent them out that is just WRONG.

  • i have a cockatiel and i want to get a chinchilla. would they be able to be in a room together at the same time?

  • @Snivy4 yes,.,,as long as your cockatiel doesnt yell all day long

do NOT put the cage ABOVE the chinchilla cage ,,,as they are prey animals and this will freak them out and make them very nervous

  • How long does it typically take for a chinchilla to warm up to its owner?

  • @MichaelKeehls a few days and then a few years. They are prey animals ...they dont ever loose the need to run, but they do mellow. I have a 13 year old, and he sits on my chest and watches TV, sleeps on the bed

but if I touch him to much or go too fast he is gone like the wind. You cant "tame" a chinchilla

you have to live by their rules.

  • @jglaser333 Gotcha. Thank you!!

  • Will they chew the bars on their cage like hamsters do?

  • @xkittykatxrawrx if they want out or if you ignore them...yes they might , yes

  • Can you just completely make their bedding of timothy hay?

  • @dchowderr no!!!!!They eat Timothy hay..you want them to eat food that they pee , poo , and drop dust on?

    NO NO NO please

spend 8 dollars on some good quality fleece

  • @jglaser333 understood

  • can you feed them grapes

  • @MrsJuliaStelly no seeds ,... Its not something we normally do no veggies , no fruits...but it wont kill them

  • I saw a pair for sale for £150 for both ($200?) is this a good deal? There at Pets4home which is allot like petco in the US (Been to a petco in TX) ???

  • @nortalus yes its a good deal. I was at Petco this morning and they had one there for 160 dollars plus tax

why not consider rescuing one from a shelter...there are so many in need of homes

  • @jglaser333 Awesome! And really? D: That's allot for one, but then pet stores like this are always expensive. Pets4home is OK. But they don't sell cats :c and there as involved with charities as in the US.

I would really consider that^^ but I would probably have to go capital-side. Would be cool, I'm adopting a kitten soon from a charity.

Oh, I just asked my friend if she knew what a Chinchilla is. She said it's a type of Mexican food XD

    Thanks!

  • im wondering how cold should you keep the room that your chi cilla is in?

  • @OptumonGirl between 65 and 75 F and a humidity not more than 50 percent,...the formula is

temperature plus humidity ...should never exceed 140

  • Now this a good video! This the best "Care video" i have ever seen. I've never seen someone take time to answer peoples questions and comments.

My question is: My parents fight like an old married couple (and they are pretty old actually), and my dad has a very loud yell. Does yelling make Chinchillas stressed out?

    Again, awesome video man!

  • @darkfire814 sure appreciate your comment THANK YOU... I learned to respect chinchillas (and all animals) there is so much that people dont know,, that I didnt know, still dont know

I wanted to share what I felt was important and glad you find it helpful

Yes...loud noises can bug them just like it could bug us,...

Chinchillas hear to 30,000 khz )..high pitch sounds would bother them more probably

  • OMG i love this .. but the sleep during the day .. ??? runied it for me .. rely .. ??

  • @Murphypresents yes,.,.and up all night

    thanks for watching

  • I miss my chins:((

  • @RachelAndrea3 I know how that feels

  • How can I tame my chinchilla? Whenever I try to pick it up, it runs away.

  • @bubblidreamz Chinchillas are PREY animals. It is there instinct to run away...however

if you let them be boss, you can have an amazing bond. Think of it a different way...

what would you do if you were it, an animal that is hunted by so many animals, birds and humans

then that human wants to lift you in the air a GIANT wants to pick you up you see?

  • @bubblidreamz put yourself in your chinnies mind space. You need TONS of patience. Chinchillas are NOT cuddly, do not like to be pet etc. You have to work hard, with sensitivity to create that special bond...and they will always want to run and hide

  • Hello, I have 2 questions. Are Chinchillas stinky? And also How often do you have to clean the cage?

    Thanks.

  • @loonalover613 chinchillas do NOT smell, their poop doesnt smell, they have no dander, and you have to clean the cage at least once a week, the floor around it every day, and you need to let them out EVERY DAY

you will be cleaning poop for the next 20 years ,.,..its part of being an owner

if you see this series PART 5 (taking good care of your chinchillas) you can watch me cleaning

that should help and also maybe change your mind about having chinnies

  • is the ink on cardboard boxes safe?

  • @Chris0makes0movies usually it is, its not made from led etc

If possible I would use cardboard etc without glue, labels, and writing

  • 4:07 that is the most adorable picture EVER!!!

  • @stuffedlegoguy461 thanks for watching and commenting

  • Hello! So, I have two questions about chincillas. 1. Can you use fleece or other blankets as bedding? (And wash them 2 or 3 times a week instead of buying pricey bedding?) And also, how big do chinchillas get? I'm looking into them before deciding to adopt. (learning about needs and care.)

  • @youruinedit390 you are very smart to research,,,please watch my 5 parts of this video series

I use FLEECE ,,,no bedding (wood , paper etc) I wash it once a week

they can get to be fairly large ,.,like a small rabbit

they come in all sizes, and frames
