The uniqueness of their lyrics, sounds, and appearance clearly would suggest their empowerment as humans and musicians. What message exactly? I've listened to quite a few of their songs and their lyrics are pretty vague. This is not to be confused with ambiguous or mysterious. At best I'd call it free associative writing, at worst I'd call it random art school cliches stitched together. Trust me, I've tried to "get" what they're talking about. If they do have a message, they're failing miserably to display it. Writing is an act of communication and their writing style just isn't suited for it.
