Es increíble tal dulzura y emotividad... esa suerte de determinación ante la adversidad que emana de la obra de Beethoven... cómo expone, cómo la da a conocer y la hace sentir en el propio corazón de uno el maestro Arrau.

Cuando la gente algunas veces pregunta ¿por qué le consideraban el mejor intérprete de Beethoven? es precisamente por todo esto y mucho más. No ha habido otro pianista que interprete a Beethoven de forma tan cabal, íntegra y bella... su Beethoven es simplemente exquisito.

Do you know where can I get a copy of the concert in DVD? It would be the perfect gift for my father. His parents were Arrau's disciples and my dad met him many years ago. He was so fortunate to see him perform.

Hope you can help me. I have been trying to get a copy of this particular concert for quite some time.

Maestro Arrau was just wonderful. Maybe the greatest performer!!!

Although around 80 here, Arrau's tonal depth and ability to impart 'meaning' to every note are still unique. He is a true emperor in this work!

The concert took place on the occasion of his 85th birthday. Three years later he died in Mürzzuschlag, Austria.

And finally we come, IMO, to the best of the three. He was a bit past his prime, technically, but not much. He still had plenty of technique left. And, musically, he was at the top of his form. And such a great heart.
