  • Thumbs up if you thought it would be the homeless guy with the golden radio voice from America!

  • haha Bud Leavitt is my grandfather! No joke! Ted Williams was Bud's best friend.

  • This is his longtime friend and fishing buddy Bud Leavitt, sportswriter from the Bangor Daily News. JJ Nissen is a Maine bread company, located in Portland.

  • Good Info. I will add it to the keywords.

  • No. Nissen bread was distributed in the North East (Mostly Mass and Conn), that's why Ted Williams was thier spokesman. The "Canadian" was just a variety they had.

  • If this is the one I watched them film it was shot at the Samoset Resort in Rockport Maine.

  • The other gentleman is Bud Leavitt.

  • Perhaps, but it was widely sold in Maine and NH. These commercials ran frequently in the late 80's and early 90's. There were several other J.J. Nissen commercials featuring Williams as well as the other gentleman.

  • Ted Williams was a shrewd businessman, as well as a crackerjack ballplayer- he knew the value of his name and image plastered on any product would increase its value (and his)- this ad for J.J. Nissen in Canada must have been one of the most lucrative towards the end of his life.

  • Was J.J. Nissen a Canadian brand of bread?
