All the left wingers I know believe the debt was caused by years of deregulation of the financial industry (wall street and banks), coupled with 2 wrong wars that weren't payed for, excess defense spending, corporate welfare, and the Bush tax cuts. Christians had nothing to do with it. The spending on "lazy bums who won't work" pales in significance to the above mentioned hemorrhage of money we pay in taxes.

@philfromearth I am against corporate welfare for the same reason. But if we raise taxes businesses will have a harder time payinhg and hiring workers. Speaking from my own experience as a small business owner.

We are struggling to make ends meet and these big corporations have never had it so good. Profits for them are at an all time high. As for them hiring workers they are going to China and the third world for labor where those people are forced to work for nothing in awful conditions. @mainestategop (cont.) This is a true story. When I worked as River Manager for a whitewater rafting co. I got all my plumbing supplies from the local hardware store. The owner (Bob) worked behind the counter everyday. Whenever I had a project I'd go to Bob. We would talk about my project and he would make suggestions as to how to complete the task. His suggestions would more often than not, save me money. Wal-Mart moved in and put Bob out of business in about a year. (2 cont.)

If we keep carrying these big corporations, banks, and billionaires around, we'll not keep our freedoms or our money.

The conservative Supreme Court ruled that trans-nationals, being equal to a people, have 1st amendment rights allowing them to buy elections, thereby keeping the tax burden on you and me.
