Absolutely laughable. If you're unarmed, and up against a guy with a knife, run for your life. Literally. Or try to find some improvised weapon. Bottle. Bar stool. Tree branch. But with your bare hands, you're gonna be ground beef. If you want to see what a knife does to meat, look up the Cold Steel videos here. A big bowie will chop your hand/finger/arm right off.
any1 that goes up against a knife must expect to be cut(those who don't are just plain stupid) And also these techniques are trained slow at first, but must be trained at full speed after a while so that they are more realistic ( watch some Krav Marga vids and you will see. Training muscle memory allows us to react a certain way without thinking. like driving and doing an emerency stop. you dont think about it you just do it.

Run fu? what if you are not able to run, backed against the wall, or if ur with ur family. you gonna run if the other guy means to do you damage? These are some good techniques, and practiced regularly for muscle memory can make the difference between life and death.
then it all depends on whether the person with the knife *really* wants to cut you up, doesn't it ? if they do, there's bugger all techniques like this are going to do to save you. you cannot train these kinds of techniques to work against an unpredictable and determined attacker. practice the 'muscle memory' of these techniques and all you are going to do is put your hand up in front of you, expectantly waiting for your motionless opponent to slowly swing his forearm into your hand. uh .....

Personally I wouldn't risk any of these techniques. I've trained in this system too and I've never been able to pull these off against a noncompliant partner, nor have I seen anyone else do it. Let alone in a frenzy. Running will work only if the attacker is dazed, damaged, or distracted, assuming you're faster is not a good idea. De-escalation is the most important martial skill.
