No the motor was a Merlin 76 ( off of a mossi, port wing) with original carb setup. Jerry had it down to a art on how long he could keep it inverted before the motor quit. Once at Reno ( 81 ) in SL721 he made a inverted pass about 50ft anlong the crowd and had the motor quit, overprimed and shot flame 4 ft out the stacks, quit a character : )
dave,does jerry have that that thing converted to fuel injection? i think i read somewhere those things were sketchy rolling them with normal aspiration

Love the Merlin V12's sound. Mustang and Spitfire had similar engines, and were both Supercharged
