I spent a massive amount of time playing this. The things I remember most is the open world which I spent so much time just wandering around in. I don't think I ever knew how I was supposed to progress. Loved it so much, though.
I found a boxed copy of this game (complete with manual) in my cupboard earlier today. The funny thing is, I don't remember where I bought it from or why. I've never owned an Acorn machine, so I didn't buy it for that. There's a chance it may have been included with a bunch of Spectrum ZX games I bought years ago. It was just on its own. Strange.
@dcikaruga Yeah I really struggled with this (although I was quite young when i played it), but I think there was a few cheats for it thats the only way I ever finished it!
This is brilliant. It's like it's 1994 all over again. Me and my family had many hours of fun on this game, we never finished it though :(
My Acorn Archimedes died a death years ago, but it's nice to remember Pandora's Box, Chocks Away, E-Type, Starch, Saloon Cars, InterDictor etc etc....not forgetting Holed Out of course. Thanks for posting this!
This was my favourite game when I was younger. Still got the disks kicking around somewhere, if only my Arc still worked. :( 4th Dimension did some wicked games back in the day, I had E-Type, Chocks Away, Saloon Cars, White Magic and Arcade Soccer.
I absolutely loved this game as a kid. Got totally stuck at the cauldron part for a very long time, I finally figured it out and beat the game. The ending was disappointing as I recall ;) Great game though!
i could not wait to get home from school to play it, but no could not get anywhere. does anyone know if you can get an EMULATION????? WANT TO PLAY AGAIN
I got to the forest section but the things to work out were far to difficult. No I did not finish it. Has anyone done one of these for starch and Moonquake as I loved Moonquake I think I managed to complete as it was only 10 levels long, but if someone know any different let me know?
Wow! I had this game as a kid - I used to love the 4th dimension games, this was one of my favourites though I never managed to finish it. Are there any good emulators out there?
Wonderful. It's great to see the game again. Sound wasn't our forte when we wrote Pandora's Box, but the graphics still look good. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks from me for posting too.. I agree Chris, we must have spent about 10 minutes squeezing sound in. (had to leave room for pretty graphics!) We also did Carnage Inc. and it would be excellent to see that if you have it.
@cfludger Duz anyfink achully appin in da gayme or diz yiz jus ran arown walkin inta peepil? i member plyin dis game wen woz lil bt memberd it ta b mor funny n intrestin. i woz 8. we ad 'pandaraz bax clab' waz jks trust! we luvd it.
@cfludger I remember spending hours playing this and stuntracer 2000 as a kid they were happy days!! I always thought the graphics were good and unique in some respects. Well done!
Wow, thanks for this video! I remember admiring the screenshots of this game in Acorn magazine ads circa 1992, but somehow never got around to buying it.
The game seems pretty silent, though (which isn't necessarily a bad thing for the game's atmosphere), and the sound sample that plays when the wizard runs into someone seems to be the same one that can be heard in 4th Dimension's "Arcade Soccer" (released in 1990) when you tackle another player. :)
I'm on a right nostalgia trip today. I loved this :D

I miss this game so much.
Did ANYONE ever finish it? Me and my family refer to any game we can't finish as a Pandora's Box game nowadays.

Wow thanks for posting, Pandora's Box had a lovely style and a charm of its own. What other games did you do and I'll try and video them!
