Thanks, QueenBeatlesWings...So much of the Beatles recordings has been well documented. It's just this demo and those recordings of Paul with Donovan that has me stumped as to the recording dates. I always assumed the demo Goodbye was recorded sometime at the end of 1968/beginning of 1969 since Hopkins finished version came out a short time later. Thanks again for the input.
Goodbye is a song written by Paul McCartney (but credited to Lennon-McCartney) and performed by Mary Hopkin. It was released on March 28, 1969 and it reached #2 in the UK singles chart, prevented from reaching the top position by the Beatles' single "Get Back".
The song was produced by Paul McCartney and arranged by Richard Hewson.
[edit] Paul McCartney Recording
The song was never officially released by the Beatles, although there are bootleg recordings of Paul McCartney singing the song.
@AcrossTheCyberspace it was during the Beatles days, not too long before the band's breakup . it was recorded in 1969, around the time the Beatles Get Back was #1 on the charts. I believe this was an outtake from the Beatles White Album sessions in 1968.
Such a talented man! I'd love him to do this at a concert some time...amazing!

Yeah, entertainers think they stay young forever, but they don't. Its ashame people get old but its inevitable if one lives long enough.

August 23, 1968, I believe is the demo date.
Paul always loved to play acoustic.
