@GamerAndReviewer Every car can have some problems but Skoda's are very reliable. Its partly because it had to be driver in Siberia and desert temperatures. Its built on simplicity really and thanks to that its not breaking like many other brands. Same logic is used in Tatra (also czech). We cant forget that Germans like Porsche stole many early technologies from Czechs during WW2 where Czechs had 100% better tanks than Germans and much more reliable.
I know a lot of taxi drivers where I live who have bought Skoda Superbs. They are now expensive to buy,( up to £26,000 for the top models) plus some have experienced problems that have kept them off the road for long periods.
@BillDFC I agree, you'd be much better off with a Mercedes. It's not just a case of better quality, Mercs have far better residual values, too. Plus, they don't have the major image problem thats plaguing Skoda.

We have skoda's at my work and we kept if for 8 years and everything is getting broken.. I have a 26 year old bmw and still everything works.. Even the elektrics.(if i would have a merc it would be the same i'm sure of it). So point proven..

First of all, he didn't compare their dynamics (ride, handling, refinement) and engines. Plus, as regards to build quality, the C-Class was tested over 15 million miles; in fact, it is doing superbly (lol) in customer satisfaction surveys.
I also can't understand where he got the residual values from; at that time, the worst/best residuals of the Skoda were 36%/43%, C-Class were 40%/46%; today the C-Class is even better!
I like the combi version more, but the sedan in some colours is not bad, too :-). With light interior, it looks perfect. They make them 15 km from where I live :-).

This is a flawed comparison. Comparing a front wheel drive large sedan to a rear wheel drive mid size sedan means both cars are dynamically on different playing fields. Front wheel drive in a car of the Skoda's league reaks of cost cutting. However when you take the Mercedes out of the comparison, the Skoda does have a lot of appeal. I especially like the sound of the estate version (Skoda Superb Combi).
@bsdpowa the mb is more expensive, class difference is minor, and it's not like comparing a3 to the 5 series, so don't be so drastic about it, c class is the right car to be compared with superb. the point is how skoda grew it's building quality and standard standard. anyways, i'd take mercedes :)

Compact: Golf(Jetta), Octavia(Yeti), A3 ... MID size: Passat, Superb, A4 ... upper MID: A6,... luxury sedan (upper): A8, Phaeton ... ... Now ... A4 competes with BMW 3 or MB C class as the A6 competes with BMW 5 and MB E class and A8 competes with BMW 7 and MB S class. Hence you can compare suberb and MB C class.
Octavia is the Skoda-version of Passat and A6 (that's equal to MB E-Class and BMW 5). Superb is actually a rival to S-Class and BMW 7. Skoda Fabia goes with VW Golf and Audi A3.
@xuser48 You are wrong Octavia is on a golf floorpan and the golf saloon is called a jetta you can get a golf estate as well. the superb before this one was exactly the same as a passat, this superb goes against vw passat audi a4 bmw 3 series etc. the fabia is on the same floorpan as a seat ibiza and vw polo. the ibiza cupra, fabia vrs and polo gti all are pretty much same car with same engine and different body.
Both Octavia and Superb are based on the Golf platform, but that doesn't mean that they are Golf-equivalents. Golf components are made in a larger amount than Passat or Pheaton components which makes both Octavia and Superb cheaper to build. Octavia is Passat size and Superb is a larger model than that.

We have skoda's at my work and we kept if for 8 years and everything is getting broken.. I have a 26 year old bmw and still everything works.. Even the elektrics.(if i would have a merc it would be the same i'm sure of it). So point proven..

First of all, he didn't compare their dynamics (ride, handling, refinement) and engines. Plus, as regards to build quality, the C-Class was tested over 15 million miles; in fact, it is doing superbly (lol) in customer satisfaction surveys.
I also can't understand where he got the residual values from; at that time, the worst/best residuals of the Skoda were 36%/43%, C-Class were 40%/46%; today the C-Class is even better!

@repo4 Hello. I must reply - You are wrong - If we (Czechs) want to say Paris (in original), we say "Paris". Translated expression is "Paříž". So it is London - "[Lan:dn]" vs. "Londýn". But company name is untranslateable - Škoda is anywhere at world Škoda, so as Honda, Toyota, BMW, ..., but the pronounciation differs and that is my point.
You may also be dissapointed if you see some dumbasses like these ones calling for example "Rolls Royce" with some stupid accent.

This is a flawed comparison. Comparing a front wheel drive large sedan to a rear wheel drive mid size sedan means both cars are dynamically on different playing fields. Front wheel drive in a car of the Skoda's league reaks of cost cutting. However when you take the Mercedes out of the comparison, the Skoda does have a lot of appeal. I especially like the sound of the estate version (Skoda Superb Combi).

@bsdpowa I'm sorry but Skoda Superb IS the same class as the C-class MB. Both are mid size sedans. These cars share same platform within the VW group: subcompact: Polo, Fabia ... Compact: Golf(Jetta), Octavia(Yeti), A3 ... MID size: Passat, Superb, A4 ... upper MID: A6,... luxury sedan (upper): A8, Phaeton ... ... Now ... A4 competes with BMW 3 or MB C class as the A6 competes with BMW 5 and MB E class and A8 competes with BMW 7 and MB S class. Hence you can compare suberb and MB C class.

Octavia is the Skoda-version of Passat and A6 (that's equal to MB E-Class and BMW 5). Superb is actually a rival to S-Class and BMW 7. Skoda Fabia goes with VW Golf and Audi A3.

@xuser48 You are wrong Octavia is on a golf floorpan and the golf saloon is called a jetta you can get a golf estate as well. the superb before this one was exactly the same as a passat, this superb goes against vw passat audi a4 bmw 3 series etc. the fabia is on the same floorpan as a seat ibiza and vw polo. the ibiza cupra, fabia vrs and polo gti all are pretty much same car with same engine and different body.

Both Octavia and Superb are based on the Golf platform, but that doesn't mean that they are Golf-equivalents. Golf components are made in a larger amount than Passat or Pheaton components which makes both Octavia and Superb cheaper to build. Octavia is Passat size and Superb is a larger model than that.
Fabia is Golf size.
