I honestly could've learned this song when i first started playing, and i played really easy shit like tool... and how old are you? 20 something? i feel bad for you, you should sell your guitar and actually get something out of it.
@Hatesmonkeys666 He never said he was amazing. It's just a fun riff to jam along to even though it is easy as shit. I like to jam to the whole album even though it's really easy.
I had to stop this 3 times because i laugh so hard. Where the the fuck is the complexity in this? I cant believe people have trouble playing this bands "music"
@loosifur I bought this guitar from Sam Ash and paid $999.00.. Mine is the FM408 but it has since changed to the FM418.. As far as I know the guitar is still the same but the model # is different..
@lectwar Meshuggah's riffs aren't technical or hard to play at all. Their rhythmic structure is predictable, but messes with your mind until you get used to it. Frederik's solo's aren't hard to play either, as long as you can do some tapping. But all of this doesn't mean that they don't make good music.
@xpguardian well id like to see a video of you playing them then. The only songs by them ive tried learning is bleed and combustion. The solos are really difficult and a little more than just tapping. And yes songs like bleed are mostly rhythm but bleed is much more difficult because of how fast the rhythm is. i doubt you can play either. prove me wrong
@lectwar Bleed isn't a technical song. It's all about endurance. The rhythmic structure is simple but arranged in a masterful way. Bleed and Combustion are anomalies. Meshuggah don't usually write like that. Chaosphere is their most technical album to date, and the only thing technical about it is the extreme thrashy syncopation that characterizes the album. it's about the pick hand not the fret hand.
Also, i CAN play Bleed. But I have nothing to prove to you, nor do i have the time to prove it
@xpguardian ok...but i never said they are technical. not once did i say they are. just difficult. Just that i say something is difficult doesnt mean technical
@lectwar No one even has to post covers, its easy dude you only make yourself look stupid by saying its hard, i honestly tried learning bleed and another song, shit is way too easy i thought metallica was easy, but damn i cant talk shit about them after seeing meshuggah.
@drkenun Of course its easy when you're relying on people to take your word for it. I actually wrote Speed Kills by MAB. But you'll have to take my word for it ;)
First. I have an Ibanez RG 7-string. you can see it in my video covers on my channel. I dont do very much leads either but im not a strict rythem player. Second how much did this guitar run you for and would you reccomend it. Anything you dont like about the ESP 8-string
Sorry for the late reply Dude.. I paid $999.00 for this FM408.. I would recommend this guitar if you don't like the pickup placement on the ESP 608b and if u don't wanna shell out $1800 for the RG2228.. But if u have the cash I would say get the RG or better yet look into having a custom 8-string built.. I own the RG2228 also and I love that guitar more than my wife..lol.. But if u are looking for a 1st 8-string then I think the FM is a great guitar until u play the RG or something even better..
if u notice all of Meshuggah's riffs sound a lot alike...but hot damn, those guys have some stamina! i feel so bad for Tomas Haake, having to keep up with them.
huh, if Tomas haake has to keep up with them, he dont have stamina, i think he has alot more then they have! It's pritty easy to do what they do if you know what your doing, you see it's not that fast neither difficult riffs, the beat is what is complicated.. And I suck at that! Still I think it's amazing music!
Dude I am Strictly a Rythym player, so I don't do alot of leads and crazy note bends unless it's part of the main riff of the song I am playing.. And with that being said, I haven't knocked this guitar out of tune once.. Of course I check it everytime I play.. But it's about the same as any other guitar I have owned.. It holds tune really well.. Later Dude..
I have never attempted that song at all..lol.. To be quite honest I think that sounds like the hardest one on the whole album.. It would take some time for sure..
its actually not his fault haha. the fucking album plays the same fucking riff throughout every track!!!! its scary i know but thats Meshuggah for you
Right On Bro..lol.. It's not like I wrote the riffs or the riff..lol.. I am only playing a cover of the stuff that they wrote.. You know what, I know that riff goes on forever my I actually like it.. And if you listen closely the riff does change as the song goes along.. Later Dudes..
Hey Dude.I am guessing you mean the general picking pattern right?Well I never noticed a specific pattern myself. For me it was a combination of memorizing the riff and being a drummer myself, once I learned the drumbeat I just figured it out. Sorry I know that isn't much help, but that is what makes the beginning of the album cool. The riff is more or less the same thing but it is also changing through the first 3 parts.I would say keep playing along with it and you'll get it Dude.Later..
I guess other people have asked, but how's the string tension on the F#? With a 25.5" I'd expect it to be very floppy. Tried the RG2228 and I thought the tension sucked on that one, and it's 27".
Hmm.. I don't know if this feels the same for other people but to me the FM string tension feels about the same as the RG.. Just my opinion of course.. But I'd say if you didn't like the tension on the RG then you won't care much for the FM cause if anything, it would be a little floppy compared to the RG.. You can always put on a bigger set of strings to help the tension though.. Thanx for the comment.. Later Dude..
Yeah, I got mine from SamAsh, too. I'd recommend calling around for prices--you can probably get it lower than advertised. Get quotes from several dealers, then ask whoever you want to buy it from to beat the lowest quote.
.......LMFAO....... Well thanx Dude, I guess.. No I'm not a bouncer or anything.. Actually I think I look a little bigger in the vid too.. I guess it's better to have that kind of a prescence than to look like a wuss so I will take that as a compliment.. Later Dude..
I guess you could use bass strings if you had to.. Just search for "Just Strings" on google and go to that site.. They have everything you will need.. You just have to buy a 7-string pack and then an extra single string to use for your top F string.. Later..
Meshuggah explain their new string setup in some recent interviews. They've gone thru a few different tunings. The new setup includes a bass string or 2 on the bottom I believe, requires a fair bit of setup tweaking to make it sound a decent note.
Nice, sounds great. So damn thick. Nice :) I have to buy that quitar too. :D Or the Ibanez? Mhm...I don't know.... well I don't have the money yet :D time to think about it^^
Hey Thanx for the comment Dude.. I also own the Ibanez and I will tell you straight up that the Ibanez owns the FM408 hands down.. Every comparison you have read is BS.. The only thing that is the same is the pick-ups.. Besides that, the RG2228 kicks the ESP's ass in every way possible.. And that's coming from a dude that has bought both of them.. lol.. Later Dude..
Ok speaking only in compairing the RG2228 to the FM408.The Ibanez 27" scale alone is good enough. The lower notes are much clearer sounding and they don't sound too muddy. You can actually play power chords on the top 2 strings and you can hear the notes you are playing instead of relying on single note riffs all the time. Also the double locking bridge is a bonus for the RG.I am sure that the other ESP 8's sound killer because they are 27"scale also. But as for RG8 vs. FM8.The RG8 wins period......
okay thank you very much, ill take those all into consideration. i am a esp fan, but ill deffinatly take your point :) ill check out the other esps, and may have a look at the shecter one :D
Don't listen to these dicks dude. They're just jealous. I own the Ibanez, and it's awesome, but don't rag on this dude just because he plays better than you.
Dude unless you have played both guitars then you probably don't realize how good that ESP really is.. My "Choice" was the Ibanez BTW but it wasn't in stock at this time so I bought the ESP, so what? Oh yeah the Ibanez, I bought it about 2 weeks ago so now I own them both.. Yes it is a better guitar but the ESP is not a poor decision by any means..
word your better than that micheal kid but yo i wanna see someone play their really complex, off kilter, different phrase every measure shit. you bassically now know how to play that one lame riff for five minutes
First of all if you listen closely that one riff isn't the same all the way through the 5 minutes and next if u want more complex then look for my "Combustion" cover on my page and finally, who's Micheal??
Thank you.. The camera is a Flip Video camera that I bought at Wal-Mart for like $150.00.. I agree, it does produce a decent sound even when used this way.. This vid though does seem a little too bassy but yeah it's ok sounding.. Thanx again.. Later..
Even if I told u you probably would never bother cause it's somewhere in Eastern Ky. in the middle of nowhere..lol.. You would sooner save up the gas money a have enough to buy one..lol.. Actually my 8-string is not one of the Carpenter models though.. Yes it is almost identical but it's not advertised that way.. Mine is the FM408.. Carpenter's models are the 608b and the STEF8 I think.. Anyhow mine is the cheapest one of the 3 at almost a grand.. I'm glad u like the guitar dude.. Later..
almost identical depends on how you look at it though, 27" scale length compared to 25.5" is a pretty big difference for most, although other than that the only difference I know of is the inline headstock on the others (and of course the lack of a neck pickup on the stef model, and instead a middle one) nice playing btw :)
What I meant in terms of identical was the actual look of the 3 ESP 8-strings cause looking at the body they are identical.. But today I will have something a little different cause today I will own the Ibanez RG2228!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!
I do have a full 8-string pack that SIT sent me when I registered my guitar on their website but I don't know if they sell them like that on a regular basis.. So yes I plan on buying a coule sets and doing it that way.. Thanx for the comment.. Later..
Yeah I know.. It's strange though cause while you are playing the same riff during the 3 tunes, it slowly kinda morphs into, I guess a different mood would be the right word.. It would be cool if you could tell the difference in songs other than all 3 being the same idea guitar wise.. It's all good cause they more than make up for it near the end of the album.. Later Dude..
Thanx alot Dude.. Switching to 8 strings from 7 wasn't that hard at all.. I will say though there's no way I think I would want to try 9 strings.. It is hard enough to make power chords on the top strings on and 8 string and its seems it would be damn near impossible on a 9.. Thanx for the comment..
Oh wow this vid is great to see. I've been wanting to get an 8 string for a while and hope to get one in a few months. I was looking at the RG2228 but then saw the FM408 on the ESP site. But I think I'd prefer a 6 string baritone just to play rhythm things like this on. Do you think a 6 string baritone (27") would easily handle the tension of the strings at that tuning? I like strings to be tense as it is, if they're loose it feels horrible to me.
Hey Dude.. Personally I have never played on a baritone neck but I'm sure that a 27" scale would handle the low tuning with no problem.. Thanx for the comment..
All the songs are hooked together to form 1 continuous 47-minute long peice.. They are more like sections or chapters rather than seperate tracks.. I fucking love it no matter!!! Later Dude..
The scale isn't even a factor at all.. I can tune this guitar as low as I want and the strings feel perfectly fine.. I was kinda torn between this guitar and the 608b but I decided on the FM408 because I like the 4 tuners on each side of the headstock and because it was like $150 bucks cheaper..
Yes they would if I knew any..lol.. No seriously I do know a few parts of that beast of a song.. Maybe one day I might do a vid of random "I" riffs.. Thanx Dude..
My amp is a Line 6 AX212.. I've had it about 5-6 years.. I don't think they even make them anymore.. Anyhow the amp model I use is the Soldano.. The rest is all EQ.. Thanx..
Hey tahnx for the comment dude.. I'm still trying to learn more Meshuggah in general not just Obzen.. I'm sure as everyone knows though, that stuff is about as hard as anything I've attempted on guitar.. Anyway I will do some more vids as soon as I can get my shit together on this 8-string.. Later..
that would rule. there aren't many 8 string meshuggah covers on here. everyone meshuggah fan on youtube is depending on you! lol :)
To get you started on Ozen, I'd recommend learning, Electric Red, Obzen, Lathargic, and Spiteful Snake. Those are my personal favorite to play. I'm going to upload some vids of me doing them when my new 7 string ibanez rg7321 arrives this coming week. (had to learn them on a 6 string, don't ask me how lol, basically an octave higher...)
Lastly, I'd also recommend searching for the Rare Trax CD for the remix of Concatenation. It destroys the fast version on Chaosphere. It's slower and deep. it's the way the song was meant to be heard! i think they redid it with 8 strings, or maybe 7. dunno. it's good.
Dude I'm still using the strings that came on the guitar.. The top string is a .68.. So far I've had it as low as drop E and I don't really plan on trying any lower cause you can't hardly distingush anything your playing.. The scale has not been a factor to me at all.. But also I figure that a thicker gauge top string will make a good axe even better.. Thanx for the comment.. Later..
dude how can you play with the arms of your chair on?it's so awkard and it makes me anxious cause i don't want to scratch my guitar with them :-( it's a pity for such an expensive guitar
Man it never bothered me cause I got used to playing that way.. I agree on the scratching cause I'm always worried about tearing my shit up.. I guess even though it's a risk I just try to be careful..
The guitar cost $999.00.. I haven't had to buy strings yet but I'll just buy a regular 7-string set and get an extra set of baritone strings so I can put a .70 on the top.. I am still working on the Meshuggah tunes so give me a while and I will ut more on here.. Thanx for he comments.. Later..
Is this guitar good for shredding, solos and that stuf?? Or only Meshuggah-stuff?

Ok speaking only in compairing the RG2228 to the FM408.The Ibanez 27" scale alone is good enough. The lower notes are much clearer sounding and they don't sound too muddy. You can actually play power chords on the top 2 strings and you can hear the notes you are playing instead of relying on single note riffs all the time. Also the double locking bridge is a bonus for the RG.I am sure that the other ESP 8's sound killer because they are 27"scale also. But as for RG8 vs. FM8.The RG8 wins period......

okay thank you very much, ill take those all into consideration. i am a esp fan, but ill deffinatly take your point :) ill check out the other esps, and may have a look at the shecter one :D
gotnoodle 3 years ago
Don't listen to these dicks dude. They're just jealous. I own the Ibanez, and it's awesome, but don't rag on this dude just because he plays better than you.

How much did you get that ESP at? I am looking to get one..

Thanx Dude..
bone777 3 years ago
The Ibanez 8 is so much better. You definitely chose poorly.
LAFighter 3 years ago
Dude unless you have played both guitars then you probably don't realize how good that ESP really is.. My "Choice" was the Ibanez BTW but it wasn't in stock at this time so I bought the ESP, so what? Oh yeah the Ibanez, I bought it about 2 weeks ago so now I own them both.. Yes it is a better guitar but the ESP is not a poor decision by any means..
bone777 3 years ago
word your better than that micheal kid but yo i wanna see someone play their really complex, off kilter, different phrase every measure shit. you bassically now know how to play that one lame riff for five minutes
log1c420 3 years ago
First of all if you listen closely that one riff isn't the same all the way through the 5 minutes and next if u want more complex then look for my "Combustion" cover on my page and finally, who's Micheal??
bone777 3 years ago
I surely hope you don't mean catachlysmichael who did the perfect cover of bleed? haha. probably not
gaunten 3 years ago
I don't think so either.. That dude is killer!!!
bone777 3 years ago
that riff is fucking killer bro..its heavy as fuck. i would play that riff for hours if i could.
roflVJlol 3 years ago
Yeah Man I think so too.. It's a perfect opener for all the even better riffs that follow later on in the album..
bone777 3 years ago
class act dude, well done!

dude that sounds fat, really good sound for over a vid cam or whatever. youtube in general.
Doddus 3 years ago
Thank you.. The camera is a Flip Video camera that I bought at Wal-Mart for like $150.00.. I agree, it does produce a decent sound even when used this way.. This vid though does seem a little too bassy but yeah it's ok sounding.. Thanx again.. Later..
bone777 3 years ago
MESHUGGAHHHHHHHHHH, fuck Im so jelaous of you having the 8 string esp from carpenter. Tell me where you live, hahaha.
sevenbla 3 years ago
Even if I told u you probably would never bother cause it's somewhere in Eastern Ky. in the middle of nowhere..lol.. You would sooner save up the gas money a have enough to buy one..lol.. Actually my 8-string is not one of the Carpenter models though.. Yes it is almost identical but it's not advertised that way.. Mine is the FM408.. Carpenter's models are the 608b and the STEF8 I think.. Anyhow mine is the cheapest one of the 3 at almost a grand.. I'm glad u like the guitar dude.. Later..
bone777 3 years ago
almost identical depends on how you look at it though, 27" scale length compared to 25.5" is a pretty big difference for most, although other than that the only difference I know of is the inline headstock on the others (and of course the lack of a neck pickup on the stef model, and instead a middle one) nice playing btw :)
gaunten 3 years ago
What I meant in terms of identical was the actual look of the 3 ESP 8-strings cause looking at the body they are identical.. But today I will have something a little different cause today I will own the Ibanez RG2228!!!!!!! Finally!!!!!!!
bone777 3 years ago
yeah ok, that's true
sounds great man, I hope you like it.
I'm a lefty myself, so only custom for me... except the agile intrepid, which I ordered. :)
gaunten 3 years ago
Do they sell packaged strings for the 8?
Or do you buy a normal packet (6) and buy the two heavier gauge strings separately?
Great cover. Meshuggah own
negative1ons 3 years ago
I do have a full 8-string pack that SIT sent me when I registered my guitar on their website but I don't know if they sell them like that on a regular basis.. So yes I plan on buying a coule sets and doing it that way.. Thanx for the comment.. Later..

bone777 3 years ago
wtf that's 3 songs? It's only 3 riffs.
coolio436 3 years ago
Yeah I know.. It's strange though cause while you are playing the same riff during the 3 tunes, it slowly kinda morphs into, I guess a different mood would be the right word.. It would be cool if you could tell the difference in songs other than all 3 being the same idea guitar wise.. It's all good cause they more than make up for it near the end of the album.. Later Dude..
bone777 3 years ago
ur a very cool guy for covering meshuggah. and even cooler for ownin an ESP 8 string :P
i play a 7 string LTD m-107, do u find teh jump to an 8 is easy or difficult? thanx
RossWildish 3 years ago
Thanx alot Dude.. Switching to 8 strings from 7 wasn't that hard at all.. I will say though there's no way I think I would want to try 9 strings.. It is hard enough to make power chords on the top strings on and 8 string and its seems it would be damn near impossible on a 9.. Thanx for the comment..
bone777 3 years ago
Oh wow this vid is great to see. I've been wanting to get an 8 string for a while and hope to get one in a few months. I was looking at the RG2228 but then saw the FM408 on the ESP site. But I think I'd prefer a 6 string baritone just to play rhythm things like this on. Do you think a 6 string baritone (27") would easily handle the tension of the strings at that tuning? I like strings to be tense as it is, if they're loose it feels horrible to me.
Thanks for the upload!
mpeskett 3 years ago
Hey Dude.. Personally I have never played on a baritone neck but I'm sure that a 27" scale would handle the low tuning with no problem.. Thanx for the comment..
bone777 3 years ago
finally someone one didn't use a ibanez
guitaristman23 3 years ago
..lol.. Not because I did'nt try for the Ibanez before I bought the ESP.. It's cool though.. It has been a cool guitar.. Later Dude..
bone777 3 years ago
Bad ass album.
My guitarist always wants to cover it but cannot tune low enough...but then I can do it by tuning UP on my bass HAHA!
Ahem anyways, that's pretty bitchin man...would love to have an 8-string but I'm currently looking for a Baritone.
Best Album by far too...just like a raging bull all the way...a very distorted bull too.

wats up wit the first couple tracks on dat album i just bought it 2day n i thought somthing was up wit my cd
poopsinhispans 3 years ago
All the songs are hooked together to form 1 continuous 47-minute long peice.. They are more like sections or chapters rather than seperate tracks.. I fucking love it no matter!!! Later Dude..
bone777 3 years ago
thats wat the snakes eating eating eachother on the cover must mean one thing that is continious thnx
poopsinhispans 3 years ago
How is the standard 25.5 inch scale for an 8 string? I'm thinking about one except the Stephen Carpenter model 8 string, since its 27 inch.
plaguex1 3 years ago
The scale isn't even a factor at all.. I can tune this guitar as low as I want and the strings feel perfectly fine.. I was kinda torn between this guitar and the 608b but I decided on the FM408 because I like the 4 tuners on each side of the headstock and because it was like $150 bucks cheaper..
bone777 3 years ago
Some "I" riffs and parts would be awesome to see ;)
DShinryuu 3 years ago
Yes they would if I knew any..lol.. No seriously I do know a few parts of that beast of a song.. Maybe one day I might do a vid of random "I" riffs.. Thanx Dude..
bone777 3 years ago
your guitar sounds just like the song XD
what distortion or amp are you using?
keysersoseiezk 3 years ago
My amp is a Line 6 AX212.. I've had it about 5-6 years.. I don't think they even make them anymore.. Anyhow the amp model I use is the Soldano.. The rest is all EQ.. Thanx..
bone777 3 years ago
nice, but why no Obzen? i play the best songs on obzen on guitar every day. i highly recommend it. and u already got the 8 string! ur all set!
LordHines420 3 years ago
Hey tahnx for the comment dude.. I'm still trying to learn more Meshuggah in general not just Obzen.. I'm sure as everyone knows though, that stuff is about as hard as anything I've attempted on guitar.. Anyway I will do some more vids as soon as I can get my shit together on this 8-string.. Later..
bone777 3 years ago
that would rule. there aren't many 8 string meshuggah covers on here. everyone meshuggah fan on youtube is depending on you!
LordHines420 3 years ago
Lastly, I'd also recommend searching for the Rare Trax CD for the remix of Concatenation. It destroys the fast version on Chaosphere. It's slower and deep. it's the way the song was meant to be heard! i think they redid it with 8 strings, or maybe 7. dunno. it's good.
later, and keep-up the great work.
LordHines420 3 years ago
Thats nice! Im thinking about getting one to add to the collection. Its hard between Esp and Ibanez.
OrdoAbChao32 3 years ago
I'm looking to get one of these. Do you find that the 25.5" scale is too short for down tuning? Or is that easily fixable with a thicker gauge?
limpdogskip 3 years ago
Dude I'm still using the strings that came on the guitar.. The top string is a .68.. So far I've had it as low as drop E and I don't really plan on trying any lower cause you can't hardly distingush anything your playing.. The scale has not been a factor to me at all.. But also I figure that a thicker gauge top string will make a good axe even better.. Thanx for the comment.. Later..
bone777 3 years ago
dude how can you play with the arms of your chair on?it's so awkard and it makes me anxious cause i don't want to scratch my guitar with them :-( it's a pity for such an expensive guitar
ObscuredInside 3 years ago
Man it never bothered me cause I got used to playing that way.. I agree on the scratching cause I'm always worried about tearing my shit up.. I guess even though it's a risk I just try to be careful..
bone777 3 years ago
The guitar cost $999.00.. I haven't had to buy strings yet but I'll just buy a regular 7-string set and get an extra set of baritone strings so I can put a .70 on the top.. I am still working on the Meshuggah tunes so give me a while and I will ut more on here.. Thanx for he comments.. Later..
bone777 3 years ago
also how do u buy the strings for it, is there and 8 guitar dtring pack somewhere and idk if u take requests but bleed would be AWESOME!!!
abysslord16 3 years ago
how much did that cost
