@PokerPlum Doing so was beneficial for them: when WW2 started Britain and France were more powerful than the United States. So, they decided to hang around in America so that their competitors in Europe would've weakened enough. Luckily enough, Japs attacked them but the bastards didn't understand that running towards yanks with bayonets wouldn't do anyone any good. If Japs would've used modern tactics and better code language, they would've won Midway and thus the entire Pacific campaign.
Type 45 is, if not better, certainly a different take on air defense, and very good at what it does.
Fact is, however, it will spend a lot of its time escorting USN carriers and other allied task groups.

As far as the US staying out of things, well we did give you all 50 destroyers, food, supplies ect. The launcher/missile system was designed by brit/french/italy, and the other two nations didn't want to use US missiles.

At the moment the Royal navy is very poor. Their carriers are ancient, the technology is from 1987, the only hope for the Royal navy is to get Merlin, Seahawks, X-35 VTOL aircraft and put them on the Nimitz class Carriers, then build 5 Type 45 Destoyers and Frigates.

If we had the same kind of funding the US military has on top of our world leading training, we'd put everyone else to shame. the USA scares the shit out of the chinese. we defeated the russians in the Cold War. We faced the Germans and did a hell of a lot more during D-Day, while also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific. Britain didn't fight WWII on its own. You would have lost if the USA hadn't come, and you also had lots of assistance from the Canadians and the Soviets.

Sword, Gold, and Juno were split between you, the French, and the Canadians. We also attacked Pointe du Hoc. We also did this while also fighting the Japanese. You were only fighting in Europe/Africa.

@THUD086 What 'weak spots' would these be in Daring's air defence exactly? When it comes to AAW, Sea Viper is a far more capable system than the Aegis system on a Burke. One Daring is a much better air defence ship than one Burke, where the USN has it's strength is it's network of air defence ships, that collectively overcome the individual ships flaws (or atleast flaws when compared to the T45), your ships work for your model but in terms of individual ships... the Type 45 > Arleigh burke.
@rvfharrier I never said weak spots in its air defence. The problem is its defence against other ships. It has no torpedo launchers, and has to launch its Stingray anti sub torpedo from its helicopter. And if the helicopter is lost, or unable to launch, then what?
It also has no defence against a ship launched anti-ship missile.

It's an air defence ship... it has 48 (space for 72) Aster missiles as defence against anti surface missiles. Anti submarine is also irrelevent, it's an anti air warfare ship, ASW is covered by the Type 23s and soon to be Type 26s. The Type 45's purpose is to provide a blanket of air cover over a task force that no aircraft/missile can enter, a job it does better than an Arleigh Burke or a Ticonderoga.

In 1941, unlike the US, we were busy fighting Germany in Africa and preventing an invasion of our homeland, we couldn't spare much.

So, they decided to hang around in America so that their competitors in Europe would've weakened enough. the only potential problem I see is that HMS DARING has a high electronic and physical profile. It doesnt matter whose ships are better, as long as they work. As far as the US staying out of things, well we did give you all 50 destroyers, food, supplies ect. We would love to bring our troops home, but everybody seems wants to have our involvement someplace. If you dont want us next time ask the Chinese or russians to be peacekeepers.

The launcher/missile system was designed by brit/french/italy, and the other two nations didn't want to use US missiles.
We have however, made our destroys longer, so in the future they can accommodate the SM-3 system/tomahawks....
If not, a aster 45 is under development for anti-ballistic purposes... And, as it wont be restricted by the START treaty, could be decent... but ill wait and see!

At the moment the Royal navy is very poor. Their carriers are ancient, the technology is from 1987, the only hope for the Royal navy is to get Merlin, Seahawks, X-35 VTOL aircraft and put them on the Nimitz class Carriers, then build 5 Type 45 Destoyers and Frigates.

Franco-Anglo cooperation has produced the Type 45 and Horizon warships, no America needed. We will only grow our partnership as outlined in the Green Paper. no, British scientists built the nuke first, they were sponsored by the British and allowed to work in the US as Britain was unsafe (due to being bombed).
Also, Britain had a defense plan ready for when the Germans invaded (an umbrella system), so it wouldn't have been easy for the Germans, and there is a strong possibility that if opereation Sealion did go ahead then it wouldn't have succeeded.

Sword, Gold, and Juno were split between you, the French, and the Canadians. We also attacked Pointe du Hoc. We also did this while also fighting the Japanese. You were only fighting in Europe/Africa.

We also attacked various places in Normandy and had controll over the skies, which made it possible for D-day to commence.
We were also fighting in the pacific.

you guys didn't do anything significant in the pacific. we took on japan almost by ourselves. only a few countries fought japan other than us, such as Australia. We were the ones who did almost all of the fighting against japan. we were the ones that forced them to surrender.

In fact, my neighbour is a Lt Col throttle jock, I'll ask him what he thinks when I see him. Come to think of it, the whole fleet world wide was grounded not so long ago because of major airframe failure. All mended now. :o)

Correct me if I'm wrong ol' boy, but the PAAMS Sea Viper isn't even on board the ships yet. The testing so far for that missile has proven a failure as of last year, according to your Register.
We're quite content with our Arleigh Burke class destroyers that are more than what we need, and we have plenty of them, compared to what, a total of six Darings when they're completed?

@THUD086 What 'weak spots' would these be in Daring's air defence exactly? When it comes to AAW, Sea Viper is a far more capable system than the Aegis system on a Burke. One Daring is a much better air defence ship than one Burke, where the USN has it's strength is it's network of air defence ships, that collectively overcome the individual ships flaws (or atleast flaws when compared to the T45), your ships work for your model but in terms of individual ships... the Type 45 > Arleigh burke.

@rvfharrier I never said weak spots in its air defence. The problem is its defence against other ships. It has no torpedo launchers, and has to launch its Stingray anti sub torpedo from its helicopter. And if the helicopter is lost, or unable to launch, then what?
It also has no defence against a ship launched anti-ship missile.

It's an air defence ship... it has 48 (space for 72) Aster missiles as defence against anti surface missiles. Anti submarine is also irrelevent, it's an anti air warfare ship, ASW is covered by the Type 23s and soon to be Type 26s. The Type 45's purpose is to provide a blanket of air cover over a task force that no aircraft/missile can enter, a job it does better than an Arleigh Burke or a Ticonderoga.

Enigma used by the Polish business comunity was a much different beast to that used by the German military , as were the codes, and yes, we captured both.(Dont believe that film U 570,..the makers of which were refused a release untill they put in the credits WHO captured the machines and codes)

It can counter both aircraft, and sea-hugging missiles, like an Exocet.

Considering British and commonwealth troops outnumbered US forces (and thats without factoring in other non commonwealth,european allies).Then take into account the fact that you fat pussies sat on your arses until 1941 (and had you have bothered to use the RADAR we sold you when the japs struck at pearl you wouldnt of then either! didnt use it because you didnt know how to work it lol) there was alot of fighting done before you even arrived!

@Saxonsoldiers Sorry I'm late for the party. Ah stupid, Malay (with Singapore), and Hong Kong were captured by the Japanese when the Pacific war had just started, and stayed in Japanese hands throughout the whole war.
India was not in the Japanese plan of things, Burma, right next door was, and that wasn't liberated from Japan until 1945 with American combat troops.

@THUD086 Actually it was a British theatre, you had a very very small part in it! The chindits and the main part of the British Army liberated Burma, not you! And on malaya-British and Australian troops liberated it! @Saxonsoldiers Malay, and Hong Kong were in Japanese control during the entire war. Over 100,000 Empire troops were captured, and some went on to build a railroad for the Japanese in Thailand.
Maly (including Singapore), and Hong Kong were never liberated by Empire, or its troops.
They weren't liberated until after Japan had surrendered, courtesy of a couple of A-bombs.
Get real. Obviously you don't have a degree in WW2 history.
Shove those degrees up where the Sun never shines.

@THUD086 As for your Pacific WW2 argument, stop looking at the numbers and look at the situation. The British had hardly any aerial/naval support and no tanks, the Japanese had an abundance of all of these things and ground the defence down despite being outnumbered. The exact same thing happened to the US in the Phillipines, or did you choose to forget about that? In 1941, unlike the US, we were busy fighting Germany in Africa and preventing an invasion of our homeland, we couldn't spare much.
