  • lol the drummer is in underwears lol

  • if i was there i would go nuts

  • waitin at the bus stop....yeah man

  • cool indeed....bowie n tin machine rocked you pussies...

  • COOL!

  • Im sorry but david bowie is a giant sham! He absolutely ruined one of my favourite songs! And the whole world agrees! I almost got sick .. He completely vocally raped the song in every sense of the word .. And jesus the music sounded like a toothless person eating an apple.. Yeah.... Horrible .. Jus horrible.. Who the hell does he think he is tryna attempt to cover such a song like that? Im sorry but hes a major douche ! And the only reason he is even known in the world is because he dresses li

  • Is the drummer in his under pants???

  • 100000 times I prefer the original version of Roxy Music! David Bowie has not been able to exploit the rich melody of this song, he made a draft where everything is mixed. I love David Bowie, but for me there is no doubt, the most great, most creative, most innovative, most creative, pure genius, the best is Bryan Ferry!

  • Looks like we have dullard's w/ low quality sensory equipment on board. Roxy Music 's versions are cool ...so is this one. Just cuz you don't like it doesn't mean it isn't fucking great. Reeves is a unique and highly evolved guitarist, (and provides a damn good buzz if you have a decent set of neurons) . Your poorly informed opinions reveal glaring deficiencies in your shitty little brains.

  • OMG This is the BEST Tin Machine/ Bowie ever!! met him on that tour! Thanks for sharing! XOXO

  • pathetic cover.

    no feel whatsoever.

  • @uriberry pathetic indeed

  • Although I love David Bowie, his performance of this song is zero, Bryan Ferry has been done to the divine

  • *dies*

though the song has been made into noise.

    but I still died.

  • hi ....the idea of a cover is totake a song and play itas a new version...son...that's the idea of bowie and co.....roxy music song like very much....but this version is totally different..that's simple....let's enjoy or reject it!!!

  • @Anmovich reject it

  • Well, it's different...

  • Summary: Bowie Rocks. Roxy Music Rocks. This Song Rocks. This Version Sucks.

  • Is ignoxious a combo of ignorant and obnoxious?Or is it a word for needing attention?Post on the Roxy Music and leave Tin Machine alone then.

  • I'm a big Bowie fan, but jeezus, they could have come up with this without dragging Roxy's brilliance into it.

  • What a bunch of f*cks commenting on this,...Tin Machine tears Roxy Music a new hole...Hunt and Tony Sales are awesome and Reeves can show off anytime he pleases,...no goddamn appreciation.

  • @bloodythinandfast Roxy didn't need a "new hole" torn.

  • @ignoxious They got it torn anyway,no doubt.Tin Machine took a tired tune and gave it some much needed life.

  • @bloodythinandfast Taking something beautifully sublime and turning it into noise is not giving it life. If it needs to be explained then you'll never get it.

I'm a Tin Machine fan but this is just wrong.

  • @ignoxious a bit dramatic?Sublime?I understand people like what they like,...there seems to be very little space for respecting opinions on here,...you like it??You can have it,I'll take Tin Machines version, end of it,stop wasting my time, okay?

  • @bloodythinandfast LMAO. There are too many things wrong with this post to even begin insulting your taste in music.

  • Lost ! that's the only word for thsis. Lost .

  • Killed a great song

  • not cool

  • Bowie first approached Ferry in 1973 to cover this classic...The Great One said no!

Waits almost 20 yrs...and manages to fuck it up completely!!..Terrible

  • LIke- but like Roxy Music's version better. Great Lyric's by Bowie tho

  • @IsThereKris - What do you mean with great Lyrics by Bowie?? Both Lyrics and music were written by Bryan Ferry for Roxy Music's first album. That is really something else!

  • Bowie and Reeves really worked in so many tracks !

  • I am a massive fan of Bowie....but this cover of a Roxy Music classic is simple an embaressing load of Bollacks.

Dont know what went wrong here... Bowie, is usually great with covers.. but this is emotionless crap. He does nothing but trash the original song. I'm baffled by this perfomance.!!

  • Not that bad of a remake. Sounds better on the Tin Machine album.

  • love you David, but you have taken apart bit by bit one of Roxy's best recordings.

  • bowie is usually amazing. but here, he is not. TERRIBLE cover of roxy music's best song..

  • Seriously??? The song is a classic but let us all focus on the most important part, BOWIE IS SHIRTLESS!! WTF!!! LOL @ maz

  • I love Bowie but this cover is awful.

  • Боуи без рубашки и ударник в трусах???? :О

  • Bowie doing Roxy? Never knew this. He's cool but prefer the original

  • I would Cum all day! YESSS!!! :)

  • LOL whatever... Lets get to the real point here who gives a good god damn fk if the song blows. David Bowie has no shirt. Song? What song?

  • @mazfusion Have you ever heard the Roxy Music version of this song? Maybe you wouldn't think it sucks if you actually took the effort to listen to the original.

  • @mazfusion m a big fan,but always listen, not many but he made some shit songs like ""lucy can Dance"" and his albums ''Tonight ''and ''never l m down'' he didn't like it very much either !! Thank you Reeves Gabrels ,without TM

no ''outside.1,he was thinking of retiring during the ''glass spider tour,he burned that spider on a field down to the ground, when the tour was done, remember the pictures and interviews during and after that time !!

  • wow. i love bowie but this blows. viva roxy music.

  • C'mon folks...it's a cover track...this song really fit's Bowie' style...it IS abbreviated, but still has a lot of feeling....

  • i LOVE reeves gabrels- i'm sorry, i know... but he's a hero

  • Between The Squeeze, Roxy Music and Todd Rundgren I came up on this one....

I had NO idea that this was a Roxy Music song (shame on me). So I only heard Tin Machine play it. When I hear the Roxy version... it blew me away. But since I heard it hear 1st (thought it was original) I can't get over how simple the Roxy version sounds.

  • Wow. That's a first. I had no idea Tin Machine had covered this song. Great passionate performance, but I have to wonder what they were thinking with this arrangement! I guess they would have been viified by Roxy fans, no matter how they did it. It's hard to mess with perfection, the original.

  • OK why? Everything good about this song was obliterated in this version.

  • why does david bowie sing the fucking wrong lyrics!?!?! that shit drives me nuts. and yes.. two huge egos.. now all we need is for elton john to cover this song.

  • This is a pretty poor performance. I love the song as they play it on TMII...but they sound like they're just f**king around here. Not very inspiring.

  • great song sung by 2 huge idiotic ego's

  • Abominable. From someone who should know better.

The original was a great song partly because the second part of it was pared down - the fact that it streamlines itself down to just piano and drum before Ferry came back in with "Shake your hair girl..." is the whole reason the song was such a classic.

Bowie demolishes that, and removes everything that made this a classic. Why?

  • WOW!

    Fuck!

    WOW!

Especially ~ 1:20 - They take it up a notch & around the corner.

The last minute of this song has always been my favorite.

Thanks for this Great share Maz!

  • best roxy music song.

  • Blimey, i might have liked this if it hadn't been a Roxy song.

  • Call me crazy but I actually think this is kind of awesome.

  • can't the poor lad afford a shirt anymore?

a whole washday shot to hell...

  • it's not about that. and you know it, funny man ' )

  • OMG wordt thing I ever heard. Just cos he's Bowie doesn't make this good. It's worse than the worst amateur pub band - and they all sound drunk!

  • Well, this is okay in its own right, but it's run roughshod over everything that made the original so indelibly intersting

  • And i ran across a monster! .....who was sleeping by a tree, and i looked and found the monster was ME!.....

  • He slaughtered it

  • yes he did ,, but its still good,

  • Iggy Bowie!

  • i dont like this version, too fast, too rough, but i like the other songs from david bowie.

  • yeah,dave...that's how you kill a song.

  • love you David!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tinny and try hard! See Roxy Music's one, much more layered.

  • Very good cover, but it still well below the original. It just doesn't have as many layers as Roxy's

  • Crash it into the wall, boys, it's built for speed.

  • I never knew.Dylan doing it next would be nice.

  • A Chubby Checker version would be good.

  • not necessarily bad, but different. i love bowie, but i like the original version better.

  • Love his vocal performance. Not so sure about the overall version.

  • Interesting version!

  • Thanks for posting this live clip. I saw Tin Machine on Arsenio when the second Tin Machine album came out back in 1991. Bowie always wanted to do a Roxy Music cover. It took him over twenty years at the time to do it. Good choice. Roxy is difficult to cover but he did an excellent job.

  • Not a bad physique for a 45 yr old

  • remake/remodel in the blow zone

  • *Face Palm* Oy Gevalt!

  • For me it is not butchering at all... They put the song into Tin Machine Style and damn it rocks!

  • this shit hits!

  • TM is one of rock and roll's all-time most underrated bands. Truly a great 2-year period for Bowie; helped him rebound from his 80's hangover and rediscover what he likes about music.

  • GREAT VIDEO & BEATIFUL SONG

((my bowie is different from yours))

    don't you wonder sometimes 'bout sound&vision ?

    by ASHESphoto . IT (( c o m e ))

  • david bowie as iggy pop

  • love this !

  • How many in the audience do you suppose knew the original version of this? If Bryan Ferry can reinterpret others' songs, it's OK if Bowie decides to remake/remodel one of his.

  • Kudos to you comments. Of course 1972 Bryan Ferry wrote & preformed the original with Roxy Music. This is simply Bowies thanks & tribute to one of the all time greatest bands in the history of music.

  • Oh, and just to mention, wow, a bunch of old guys pretty much schooling anybody that cares to pay attention. Show me any young ones that can bring that kind of poise, class and style to the stage. I submit that they cannot.

  • The first Roxy Music album was one of the first records I bought when I was a teenager and one of the even fewer that I still have (I feel a little silly because I do not own a turn table to actually play it). For me, Roxy Music just hit a nerve with me (and I know many others) and I just love the music. Now, with respect to this cover. I know the original all too well, and, well, goddamn, this cover f'ing rocks. If you are going to cover a song, take it to a different state. That they did!

  • What in god's name was going through Bowie's mind when he decided to butcher this wonderful song? Shame on him!

  • I don't think its a butchering. Its just a reimagining. Its "If There Is Something" on blow.

  • I don't know if some bullshit top-40 guitar shredding improves this Roxy music song much

  • magazina I agree, I kinda hate Reeves Gabrels guitar showing off, he doesn't listen to what a song needs, just looks for any opportunity to wank in it.

  • Reeves Gabrels thinks ALL songs require some wank....his wank specifically.

I honestly think he's painfully overrated....when you look at his discography it shows he's a studio gun.

NEVER wouldv'e made bank by himself...but I'm sure he got the gig because he can sight read the chart correctly first time through.......sad that THAT is all it takes to land a gig like Bowie...but it is.

  • @mazfusion @magazina - Disagree with both of you, but that's just my opinion.

Do you really think Bowie would have a lead player with him he didn't think was good for the music?

    Just curious . . .

    Cheers anyway

  • Comment removed

  • @magazina The acoustic version is better, except he's got his shirt on ... so I prefer this one gahaha!

  • This prooves Bowie's a music fan but as with his cover of Pablo Picasso he needs to try harder to do the song justice .

  • Good cover, I don't like it nearly as much as the original though. Ferry's vocals are just irresistable. Not that Bowie's aren't, but it's very different, the whole song is. Still, good cover.

  • AWESOOOOME! Great cover!
