Man, I think this was completely made in RPG Maker, probably VX or whatever the newer one is called. While that may be a testament to the power of RM, I am sincerely disappointed that I am seeing a whole ton of the default settings used in this game. I suppose I'm also very impressed that a game made in RM is getting this kind of a response. As a whole though, I would love to this kind of thing more often, but perhaps with a little more customization. Make your own music, battle system, etc.
@DanielLaneDC I'm sorry, I think this came across dully negative towards the game. I say well done on many fronts. There is certainly a marvelous degree of detail demonstrated and having not actually played the game, I'm sure there's much to see that I simply haven't.
@DanielLaneDC well at the time I didn't have the budget to afford more custom graphics and stuff. But as you can see the battle system HUD is neat. There are also custom message window, menus and other stuff in there. You can go check the game out at our site. There is a free demo. The full version is just $3.99 so you can check that too. There is also a DLC pack for just $0.99 - and it includes new quests, maps etc. Overall for the low price the game is selling I think you get a lot of value.^^
@chaos5482 thanks for the comment and I'm happy to hear you like the game.
As for the things written below here are some answers to your notes:
- To open the world map you need to press "Space". Before that you must check if in the options the "X" button is assigned to "Space". To do so press "F1", go to Keyboard, and from the drop down menu next to "Space" select "X". This is mentioned in the beginning of the game - the tutorial text.
- To select the next or previous character in the screens for weapon equip, skills and status, use the keys "Q" and "W". "W" will display the next character's items/skills/status. "Q" will display the previous character's items/skills/status.
- What do you mean by "Autorun function"? The function to assign tasks to characters and they to perform them automatically during combat?
- The cursor is related to the battle system interface but thanks for the suggestion.
lol... for some reasons i like games like this thatt are built with that rpg builder i think... like laxius force and deadly sin..... hahahah i dont know why... but it looks good.
I'm glad you liked the game. Also you finished the game in quite a record time. I guess you have experience playing jRPGs. As for Hero's Tale 2 I'm thinking of it.
I didn't finish it that fast the first time. Since then, I've had a lot of fun attempting to speed run the game. My record time at the last save point (after defeating the final boss) is 1:44:44
better then FF13

Nice battle menu xD
Too bad I've got absolutely no idea how to script.

@MirageVelondor well, I have no idea too. That's why I paid a guy to let me use his script in my game.

@drebenk Well, he sure did a great job! xD

Great game! I highly recommend it!
A few interface related gripes (to perhaps consider for the sequel):
- Keyboard shortcuts for the menu options are sorely missing (save, load, map, status, etc.)
- A feature to switch between characters within menu screens (e.g. status or equipment) would have been nice.
- An autorun feature would have been much appreciated.
- Better cursor memory would have helped (e.g. it's annoying that the default is "attack" even for the mages).

By autorun I mean that the character should run by default with a toggle for walking (if at all) rather than the other way round.
chaos5482 2 years ago
OK, you're right there's a shortcut for the map. I would have liked to have one for items, save, load, status, equipment, skills, quests, and awards.

@chaos5482 that's pretty fast mate. ^^ I never attempted to finish it in such a short manner. My fastest time was around 4 and a half hours.
If you finish it in a time under 1 hour please make a video and upload it here. I'll be really happy to see it. ^^
drebenk 2 years ago
I doubt that <1 h would be possible.
I'd be interested to see if anyone can do it faster than I did...
