the psp is capable to get to 666MHz by using the normal processor and the media engine(another processor running at 333 MHz)

PSP is newer than the PS2.

PS2 have to run in a higher Resolution.

That is not accurate.

PSP CPU speed is natively designed for 333mhz, 222mhz is a downclock.

The core difference between PSP and PS2 is that the PlayStation 2 got ALOT better GPU, which is basicly the only important factor here.

And the additional Xbox CPU speed doesn't make the system twice as good, it only makes it theoreticly twice as fast as it was accompanied with a GPU stronger than a bunch of PlayStation 2s piled together.

Sony cut down the speed becuase of just that; the battery. Same goes with the PSP Go having a processor designed with 480mhz, but will be tuned down to 222mhz and 333mhz depending on application.

There isn't much different archintectures to talk about - there is no core magic, they are just using different hardware configurations, it's nothing more exotic than that.

The PSP Go will use the 333mhz frequency in those games that requires it but the processor is out of the box capable of running in 480mhz, which is nothing too amazing considering you can get a PDA running well over 620mhz on an ARM processor.

The unit is capable of 480mhz. I don't see why you're making so much fuss about it. It is a nice future headroom, but it will until then have a 333mhz lock - and there is always need for stronger hardware seeing how the unit struggles in many 3D applications. Whichever frequency the two DS processors run it's not really relevant becuase it's a different system not pushing the same amount of pixels (even on two displays) and doesn't run the same audio- of polygon rates.

Ofcourse Sony wants a bigger future performance headroom. 222mhz to 333mhz ment ALOT. 333mhz to 480mhz might not be ground-breaking, but it can give any application alot of extra performance which the unit will start to need.

not only a 222mhz lock but also the GPU was locked. That's why more blood could be rendered in GOW:CoO with 333mhz/166 more than the PS2. The PSP also has 2 GPU's, 1core and 1 with special things like hardware cliping, texture compressor etc.

The PS2 has twice as many poly's but it renders at higher res. so that's why PS2-PSP can look very similar.

First come out the Gran Turismo HD then GT Mobile, but i think the PSP are not to powerful to run GT4, because the PS2 has a 300Mhz Processor and the PSP have a 333Mhz but limited to 222Mhz to save battery power, then if GT4M come may be have their limitations.
