In response to those commenting about her short dress, you haven to put the dress in context -- she's attending the "Tinker Bell" premiere! Hence, the miniskirt and wings. "Tinker Bell" did not fly around in an ankle length skirt. As Ariel grows older, she'll look back, and probably be embarrassed for having worn this thing and blame her publicist.
